Battle Pyramid wild pokémon guide

Based on the defunct Pokefor site which contained a page about Battle Pyramid wild Pokemon encounters, this is meant to present as an active site as a topic.

Wild Pokemon Determination
The Pokemon you battle depends on which floor you're on, and which round (set of seven floors) you're on. The first six floors have a low encounter rate, then the seventh doubles the encounter rate.

To know which Pokemon will be on any given floor, find the floor on the chart below, then look at the numbers listed. Then, look for the Pokemon listed further below for the desired round's results. Match up the numbers with the Pokemon.

Floor 1: Rate=4% 1 1 1 1 2 2 3 3 3 4 3 4
Floor 2: Rate=4% 2 2 2 2 3 3 4 4 4 5 5 4
Floor 3: Rate=4% 3 3 3 3 4 4 5 5 5 6 5 6
Floor 4: Rate=4% 5 5 5 5 6 6 7 7 7 8 7 8
Floor 5: Rate=4% 5 5 5 5 6 6 7 7 7 8 7 8
Floor 6: Rate=4% 6 6 6 5 7 7 8 8 8 8 8 8
Floor 7: Rate=8% 8 8 7 7 7 6 6 6 5 5 5 5

*Claps hands loudly*

Yes, this is an excellent guide. It really tells me what to look out for in the battle pyramid cause often times, I've been confused about what pokemon appear on each round. I thought that on the first round, you only fight electric pokes, or ones that can directly inflict paralysis. But then I saw vileplume and I was like WTF! But, this page really does explain things quite well. If only I can get past round 7... Me thinks this should be stickied.

Thanks folks, I thought it would take me much longer to put this guide together as I'm sure I'll have to add in any further reports and Misfortune teller warnings. There are some great topics that should be stickied and would normally add them to my signature but there's this 750-character limit. I may edit one of my old replies in the Recently Happenings topic and make it a bookmark page.

I am also still working on another guide as that seems to be a struggle trying to put that together. I've asked MetalMario & WhiteWizard42 for permission to use their references so far.

So EE, have you actually gotten that far in the pyramid? Lord knows I haven't even gotten close. I've only beat seven rounds in the pyramid, and came close to winning my eighth round, but I got owned by a starmie, which poses a problem whenever I face one besides my own. Do you have a good strategy agsinst starmie, other than a blissey, cause they don't stand to well up against everything else.

Expert Evan

Old Fogey
The farthest I've actually made it to was the 13th round and the trainer pokemon that swept my team and ended my run was a starmie. The problem with starmie is its high speed and special attack which makes it highly desireable to have on the team but such a pain to have to face. While a special defense wall like blissey is most desireable. here are some options to consider:

gengar with EVs in speed & sp.atk knowing thunderbolt (slower gengar gets OHKO by psychic)
snorlax, standard curselax
slaking, knows shadow ball

Yes, facing starmies is an unbearable pain for me. I could never beat one actually. Even the gengar I saw at the same level as my starmie couldn't outrun it, but maybe that's because they weren't trained. I don't really know a good time to take in blissey, as I'm about t do the eight round in the battle pyramid again.

I was going to post a report in PB88's topic about round 7, but a dragon tamer's rhydon got in the way on the 7th floor as it was too quick for my lapras to try to do surf on it, and houndoom was ineffective of course. medicham fainted 4 times and I ran out of the revive and max revive items. I did update with misfortune teller's round 1 warning.

Zera

lolforumz.
looks impressive, wish i had it before i dominated the pyramid, :'(

Expert Evan

Here are items I recommend:

sacred ash - revive entire party
lum berry - cures any status
revive - obvious
hyper potion - 200 HP restore

choice band - increases attack x 1.5
shell bell - recovers HP
focus band - prevents fainting at 30%

some Pokemon I recommend:

starmie with natural cure
blissey with aromatherapy, softboiled & natural cure
houndoom with flash fire
lapras with water absorb & thunderbolt
metagross
heracross with guts
gengar with special attacks
slaking for the advanced rounds

Great guide, EE. Could you give me permission to use this guide on my site (I'll give credit)?

I had slaking, milotic & metagross when I successfully completed round 10 and gold brandon. Metagross' meteor mash comes in quite handy and milotic needs all the defense it can get to survive the likes of armaldo & aerodactyl, then to surf down moltres.

Expert Evan

My guess is round 21 would go back to the static/paralyzing pokemon of round 1. That's amazing to make it to round 18 as it seems you have to be prepared for anything thrown in your way of have tremendous luck on your side.

I usually beat starmie with starmie, mines a modest, but with no flawless, that's why I plan to train one next week, stupid school gonna start this monday for me in new zealand

man slaking is a B8888 to train. Mine's level 92, took two days. probably cuz I can't give it lucky egg. I switch too much for it to be economic.

deucalion that is the man, I doubt I'll ever get to that.

Hey you guys, I got up to the silver round and that's it, I will continue soon, what should I use for the round after brandon? I have access to everything staple on hand at level 100, {I usually use heracross, metagross and starmie, should I continue with this? (metagross is agility one and starmie is bolt beam except with psychic and surf)}except: blissey, snorlax, weezing and forretress

Have a nice day!
Why thankyou Expert Evan, but it is my Pokemon that should be thanked. In the early stages Linoone Picked Up heaps of useful items untill my battle bag was full. Muk was, and is, the most useful member of my team. His Stench, in the Battle Pyramid, lowers the chance of a battle on floors 1-6 to 1 battle per 100 steps, and on the floor 7 to 1 battle per 50 steps. They may be rather mundane Pokemon, but for the Battle Pyramid they win the vote every time. I have now just finished round 19. According to your guide I just have to beat up a bunch of normal-types to defeat every Round! Anyone got any suggestions for my team. In third place I'm going to have Muk, but any ideas for 1st and 2nd place for Round 20?

WhiteWizard42

Master Breeder
i'd suggest medicham, if you have one. brick break/hi jump kick your way through all the wild pokemon. and blissey is always awesome, for the ability to heal status effects and share HP. (heal bell/softboiled)

y'know, salamence does the same thing, since emerald gave intimidate and keen eye the same out-of-battle effect as stench. if you have a salamence with brick break, that'd probably be the best choice here (if you want to replace muk).

Great guide, but I can't understand how you got that far! I've only gotten to the Pyramid King silver battle and lost! (earlier today!) But it's always good to know what's coming your way, and now, thanks to EE i do know!
