The flareon and cacturne have inferior stats to what you will face later on (if you even reached there.) I'd suggest getting a better fire and grass pokemon. The starter fire and grass pokemon work fine hear. I'd suggest Blaziken and Sceptile. It might not be such a bad idea to get some pokemon such as Metagross, Walrien, and Tyranitar. As for Skarmory...
