Battle Tower team.

The Great Butler

Hush, keep it down
With the help of my Starmie Moveset thread, I've cobbled together a team that I think just may be able to go the distance to match 70 and the Gold Symbol.

Rhydon @ ??? nature (I've forgotten and don't have the game handy, but I believe it was Serious)
Ability: Rock Head
Held: Lum Berry
-Megahorn
-Rock Blast
-Earthquake
-Double-Edge

Starmie @ Modest nature
Ability: Natural Cure
Held: Shell Bell
-Psychic
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Surf

Heracross @ Brave nature
Ability: Swarm
Held: Salac Berry
-Endure
-Reversal
-Megahorn
-Earthquake

You want Evs?
Also with only 3 Pokemon, you lack variety.

*points to the thread title* Typographical error though, as this is a Battle Frontier team...

I only put three since it's only for the Tower, not any other facility.

Regarding Heracross.....it came out with 345 Attack at level 100, the strongest I have. (Except the Groudon with 350. But you can't put that in the Tower)

I feel uneasy about Choice Banding Rhydon. The way I've figured the battle with Anabel would go, I'd quake on turn one to KO Raikou, but then she'd send out Latios---jamming me up because of its ability. I'd much more likely go with SubPunching even over Choice Band.....

Ok, I get it now.

You could Sub Punch over Megahorn (Mainly cos your Hera Has it) and Double Edge.
Making...
Rhydon@ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Ability: Rock Head (Even though it now no longer matters)
-Rock Blast
-Earthquake
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
Even though this would leave you Susceptible to a Latios based death... He would have served his purpose by disposing of Raikou.

SubPunching's starting to look better and better the more I think about it......but still, that image of the Anabel battle is playing in my head, telling me I would need Megahorn on Rhydon also if I wanted to win.....

Strategizing for the Battle Tower is hard stuff, that's for sure.

That is basically what I said in my edit.

When he has done what he was needed to do, you can send in Heracross for a Megahorn based killing.
That stab=awesome!

Not really sure that you should have Rhydon, it has too many weaknesses, and really crappy sp.def. A Frontier team should try to limit weaknesses.

Starmie @ Modest nature
Ability: Natural Cure
Held: Shell Bell
-Psychic
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Surf

It's good.

Heracross @ Adamant nature
Ability: Swarm
Held: Salac Berry
-Brick Break
-Rock Slide

A few changes might make this team better. There are a lot of physical sweepers that are better than rhyhorn, such as Metagross and Tyranitar. Latios/Latias could be a better choice than Starmie, they can execute the same strategy for a starmie (two STAB moves and bolt-beam) and have the same number of weaknesses.

aipomkong

prophecy fulfilled
recover and leftovers on starmie over psychic

I'll answer these one at a time.

Eontios: I'm still rather uneasy on the idea of Choice Band. The image of the Anabel battle I see has Rhydon quaking Raikou off in the first two turns, then Latios coming out, Calm Minding, then wiping out Rhydon if Megahorn doesn't KO it first. Rock Blast is there to break Substitutes---you don't know how many times I've lost frustratingly to a Blissey that put up a Sub and promptly begun Double Teaming. Heracross, simply, has to stay an EndReverser, not because of anything I did---someone I mixed records with hacked to get a Slaking with no Truant, and EndReversal is the only way I've found to beat it. Agreed on the nature, but what of Rock Slide? I guess it could be useful, if I kept the Endure/Salac on it........

nooblet: We already had this discussion, I'm keeping Psychic. Shell Bell is there over Leftovers because of Starmie's excellent speed and Special Attack; when its HP drops, a strong attack will equal a strong recovery.

Nine Thou: Good point about Bolt/Beam. It seems that there is no way to really make a team without a large weakness to at least one tactic......
