That was a satisfying battle. Kind of wish that they'd tone down that CGI background though. It's good to see Ash depicted as a competent trainer again. I wouldn't like it if many of his victories relied on overnight training, but seeing it here early on showed that he can think of strategies to win without relying on luck or plot convenience.

I loved how Serena gave Satoshi some encouragement, which actually came in handy at the end of the Gym match when things started getting tough for Pikachu.
