Beat Up (the move)

Frost Nova

The predator awaits.
I was never really sure on how Beat Up really works: I know it's labelled a Dark type attack, but does it deal dark damage or special damage in general?

A detailed description of the full effects of Beat Up is highly appreciated.

i think it does 10 damage to your foe for every healthy, active pokemon in ur party based on their attack and defense...i dont think its a dark move at all.

i hope that helps

it is a dark type move, and i believe the only pokemon that learns it is Sneasil (spelling?)

sneasel. and yes, it's the only one that learns it naturally, but there are many who get it as an egg move.

what it actually does is that it has each non-statused/non-fainted (healthy) pokemon in your party perform a dark-type move at 10 base power on the target.

so if you have a shuckle, a houndoom, and a blissey in your party, and the houndoom uses Beat Up, each of the pokemon would take an attack on the opponent. shuckle's wouldn't do much, houndoom's would do massive amounts (relatively). it's based off of each pokemon's SAtk and the defender's SDef.

It is a special attack move because dark runs off of Sp. Att.

but how come its 2hko against blissey according to smogon? That makes me assume that they are acctually attacking with attack rather than sp attack otherwise how is houndoom ever gonna KO blissey in 2 hits with blissey's massive sp defence?

where does it say that beat up is a 2HKO on blissey? reversal, maybe, but not beat up.

first set:
Houndoom can hurt just about any Pokemon not named Snorlax. Beat Up 2hkos Blissey if your team is healthy and is suggested instead of Will-o-Wisp. Hidden Power Grass hits waters harder than Crunch and is your only hope against Tyranitar, however without Pursuit you won't be able to catch Alakazam, Weezing, Dusclops, Gengar, Celebi and other fiends on the switch.
