Beginning Help

I will be starting my newly bought Ruby game a little later this evening. What pokemon would you recommend i use for the game? Obviously, it would be best to procur pokemon of different types to allow me the best type advantage throughout the game. Which 6 pokemon are best to have at the beginning of the game & which natures suit them best?

When replying to help me, please bear in mind that I must also choose one of the 3 starter pokemon, which would be best and which nature should it have?

Thanks guys.

<I will find you!
the team in your Sig looks fine, find a Lotad/Seedot thats Timid, and them for #6 Zigzagoon b/c its better to train one to a high level in the begining so when its a linoone you can pick up more rare canies and TM EQ

As of starting...Mudkip with Quiet/Brave

You're doing a question like Give Me A Team, this isn't allowed even in RMT forums.

Choose Torchic as the starter.

actually, since it's a ruby game, the pick-up ability doesn't depend on level.

I suggest torchic. a water type (wingull. lotad), and a grass type (seedot, lotad). They will get you through the first 4 gyms if trained right, and by then you'll be able to get more diverse pokemon.

Why torchic? What is so special about him? Also, is ralts all he's cracked up to be & if so, what is his best nature?

i dont like ralts/ gardevoir think its a bit limited but theres no denying the stats are impressive and i think modest would probably be best

His final evolution is a force to be reckoned with. It gains a fighting type, which negates the rock weakness.

In Red and Blue pidgey and his evolutions were incredibly strong. What is taillow like in Ruby?

Taillow is a aggresive and is a awesome Pokemon. He's the best beginning Flying Pokemon in the game. Don't get Pelipper, he, well... stinks. So I highly suggest: Torchic Taillow Zigzagoon Seedot ( Also, Taillow's EXP is really low so you can gain levels quickly. In the beginning of the game, you see a lot of bugs so.... GET TAILLOW!!!! HE RULEZ!!!!!!) End of opinion.

I'd say Poochyena for when it evolves inot Mightyena, you get the Intimidate abilty, which does come in handy for some battles.

But if you want one with a better move-pool and speed, take zigzagoon.

If you choose mudkip, get shroomish evolved to Breloom, since he is a hell of a great pokemon.

Oh,and the best flying poke in the game is definatly Skarmory Taillow/Swellow sucks.

Get a mudkip, swampert is easily the best of the staters, if you train it right it cant be beat, also get a tailow and a smoorish, and mightneva.

If you can get a Ralts train it. It's evolved forms are some of the best psychic-types in ruby.

ralts' problem is that it's really weak, until it evolves at level 30 into gardy. i usually end up training one anyway. and if you're planning to raise it to level 100, keep in mind that the gardevoir line takes more EXP to max out levels than anything else (1,640,000). and since you're just trying to get through the game, and ralts isn't a tremendously common poke, don't try to catch the right nature. only even try for a second one if your first is adamant or something.

skarm is the best flying type in the Gem generation, but it's not an early-game poke. taillow/swellow's second, so go for that.

i almost always grab the fire-type starter, just because there's so few fire-types in the pokemon games, compared to grass, and especially water.

Training a Ralts is worth it.
Ralts is one of the few Psychic types in the beggining of the game.
You can also find Taillow A LOT earlier than skarm.

Taillow and Ralts along with Shroomish and Torchic is a well balanced team early on that is sure to make you go far.

Torchic and Shroomish isn't really good.Since they evolve into fighting types, its incredibly easy to get KOed by 2 aerial aces on both.

My advice:get mudkip, shroomish, taillow, poochyena, ralts and any other pokemon.
