[Beneath This Mask] A Poem

[Cano]

Sig [Cloud] Mugen
Here's another poem, by yours truly. ^-^

Beneath This Mask
By Eric A Maldonado

Beneath this mask is a face,
a face scarred by the past.
Beneath this costume is a body,
a body punished by time and emotion.
Beneath this shroud is a soul,
a soul tattered and broken by life.
Beneath this illusion is a mind,
a mind with opinions and ideals, formed by hatred and spite.
Beneath this lie is a heart,
a heart crushed by depression.

Beneath this mask is a face,
a face hardened through resilience and hope.
Beneath this costume is a body,
a body complimented with strength.
Beneath this shroud is a soul,
a soul mended by time and effort.
Beneath this illusion is a mind,
a mind with compassion and rational, formed by forgiveness and understanding.
Beneath this lie is a heart,
a heart forever beating by will alone.
Beneath this charade is a boy,
a boy willing to fight for his beliefs, because...

Beneath this mask is an idea...
and ideas are bulletproof.

=O That was amazing! I mean, really amazing! I haven't seen many poems that embody some kind of emotion like that. It had a lot of feeling and I believe it is so true in many cases. Just one question though. How exactly does it relate to Pokemon? Just wondering 'cuz its kind of in the Pokemon section and there weren't many Pokemon connections that I could pick out. Meh, that's just me.

The depth of your poem was amazing, and all the machanics seemed to be right. Your rhythm was on beat the whole way through and I wasn't ever thrown off. Some poems have interupted or broken rhythms and that just ruins the entire poem for me. Meh, yours went all the way through uninterrupted for me though and I commemorate you on that! I hope to see more from you soon.

Keep up the awesome writing!

Kutie Pie

"It is my destiny."
Maybe it's Mewtwo if this is here... Oh wait...Ash?

I don't know. Reminded me of the Phantom of the Opera. *watches* I liked this a lot! Very beautiful and...powerful. That's almost how I feel, you know? (I have problems that involves life and the world today. Guess I'm paranoid.)

Loved it! Can't wait for more! *passes cake and ice cream and hugs*

♥Kutie Pie♥ Please be kind to midgets!

The Great Butler

Hush, keep it down
I dunno, it hit me as a condensed version of the story of Darth Vader, but that's just your friendly neighborhood Great Butler for you. ;)

I'm awful at rating poetry, so I will just say I liked it. A lot. And you win a slice of the famous Butler Empire banquet cake.

Demise

...An orange blob...
Whoa, very strong words in description.

I don't get the last, departing line. Hmm...ideas are bulletproof...? It really doesn't relate to the story.

Thank you so much! It doesn't really have anything to do with Pokemon...does that mean I should move it?

Anyways, thanks again. I think I know what you mean about interruptions and broken rhythms, and I'm so glad that you like mine so much! ^_^ and don't worry, I'll post em as I write em!

I guess it could be related to Mewtwo...meh, why not?

Never seen it, ashamed as I am to say so. And I'm glad you liked it so much! (Me too! ^_^)

YAY! CAKE AND ICE CREAM! AND HUGS!

Yeah, I can see why it would strike you like that. However you can relate to it! ^_^

I don't think you are. There's not really anything to it, save stating how you relate to it and what it makes you feel. So I think you did I brilliant job! And yay, more cake! ^_^

Thankies.

It's important to the whole poem, because I was inspired by V from V for Vendetta. His exact lines were, "Beneath this mask is something more than flesh. Beneath this mask is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof." That's basically the message I was trying to convey, so that's why the last line is so important to the poem.

That's excactly what I thought, too! However, it fits for alot of people.

That line:

and ideas are bulletproof.

It reminds me of Molly Hale for some reason.. Hmm...
Molly...Hale...? I'm not too sure that I know the reference. But I glad you liked it...if I'm to assume those are your true feelings.

Thank you all for replying! Please, feel free to read my previous works, as well as my future ones as well! Bye now! ^_^
