Best Applications

zonic the hedgehog

HUR HUR USER TITLE
Not sure if this belongs here (although I think it does),
but what are the best applications for these categories?

-Photo Editing
-Digital Art
-Video Conversion
-CD/DVD Burning
-Video Production
-Virus Protection
-Firewall
-Media Player
-TV on your computer
-Miscellaneous

Here's my favorites in some of the categories:

Media Player:

BSplayer

Particularly useful if you're the kind of person who likes subtitles. It also plays
RM, AVI, MPEG, and other files if you have the right plugins.

VLAN Player

Very useful for those who don't want Quicktime. It basically plays the same files as Quicktime, but has other good features as well.

CD/DVD Burning

Nero

This is the CD/DVD burning program I use. It's INCREDIBLY FAST. Definitely something to get even though being a bit on the expensive side (here's a hint, search the internet for the cracked version ;D).

Alcohol 120%

Don't use it, but I've heard it's another good application for CD/DVD burning as well.

If anyone has suggestions for good applications, be sure to post.

Web design: Notepad (rules!)
Audio ripping: Audiograbber
Web browser: Mozilla Firefox
Spyware/adware/hijacker removers: Ad-aware SE professional, About:Buster, SpywareBlaster, HijackThis.
Image viewer: ACD See 8

If you want my 2 personal favourite all-round programs, then they are MS Paint and Notepad.

As for Video conversion, TV on your computer, and all the others that I've missed, I can't say since I don't use any of those types of applications.

Kal-El

Mush! Mush!
Photo Editing: Either Paint Shop Pro or Gimp.
Digital Art: " "
Video Conversion: Don't really use that. I could ask my brothers for opinions.
CD/DVD Burning: " "
Video Production: Not sure. I may find out since we are making a DVD. :p
Virus Protection: Whatever I'm given.
Firewall: " "
Media Player: VLC LAN or WinAmp. I use WinAmp for music and some videos and VLC for DVDs.
