What do you think is the best translation in consoles for Nintendo?

I can't deside from the NES to SNES, or the SNES to the Nintendo 64.

The Super NES was truly a great piece of work. It took care of the pixelated graphics of the NES and made games with very good graphics at the time. This is were we got Super Mario World, Earthbound, and Super Metroid and those games were truly state of the art.

But the SNES to N64 was also great. Not only did it change from 2D to 3D graphics, but it changed the gameplay to a different perspective. It changed from a side-scrolling adventure, to an interaction with everything you see around you. Ocarina of Time would be a great example. Even though the N64 graphics would not be considered great now, they were fairly good and they were fully functional.

The N64 to GCN was rather good as well. It got the kind of blocky graphics of the N64 and put more texture, realism and detail in each of the graphical designs. For example, Mario did look a little blocky in the N64, but on SSBM, they gave him a better shape and even went down to but texture in his overalls.

The GCN to Wii is alright, but it doesn't amaze me as much of the others. They seem to go for a little bit more realism, but it isn't as big as a step from blocky to highly detailed. Still, they have but a good amount of effort to make the good graphics better.

Might add a poll later.

Maybe the Wii/Revolution doesn't amaze you/us because we don't know EVERYTHING about it. And the current graphics of the wii were simulated by 2 gamecubes (A rumor, not 100% sure) so they have the time to give us a surprise.

I mean what about it so far. Otherwise (and I could be wrong), I think that the Gamecube to Wii wouldn't be as great as an approvement as compared to the predating transitions.

I'd say NES to SNES. I don't know if people remember, but the SNES was capable of producing 3D graphics via the FX Chip, so the transition to the N64 doesn't seem quite as spectacular with that in mind. The SNES, meanwhile, not only made a major improvement in the quality of 2D graphics from the NES, but it accomplished several other things for its time, not the least of which being the afforementioned 3D graphics. To go from extremely blocky, limited-color 2D graphics, to being able to display 3D seems like quite the leap in my book, and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

SNES to N64 was a pretty big leap in my opinion. Although, they did have 10 years to work on it.

The Eject button on the SNES was cool, too bad it wasn't on N64. :p And the fact you had 4 controllers is pretty cool.

Yet Japanese apparently mod their SNESes to play online still. That must be saying something.

I must say though, SNES did have some pretty good games. N64 games were doughy at times. One particular game I'm not a fan of was F1-Pole Position. It really sucked.
Super Mario had to be the best set of games for SNES. Alot of the newer Marios have strayed off the "World 1 Level 1" thing I've noticed.
Super Star Wars was a good set as well.

I think the NES to SNES was the best leap. There was a lot more colour and the graphics were less blocky. I thought it was very good considering it is a 16bit system.

SNES to 64. The jump from 2D to 3D was huge. Thats the biggest for me. Next would probably be Gamecube to the Wii.

I feel the same way.NES had sone blocky garphics but the SNES had some detailed enviroments for being a 16 bit system.Especially some games like Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario RPG.

I think the biggest console change was probally SNES to N64. That leap was huge. Next to that is probally going to be GCN to Wii.

did everyone just completely disregard my comment on the FX Chip, or what?

I think NES to SNES was the biggest. Not because of the graphics, because of the games. There was F-Zero, Earthbound, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World and I could go on

N64 to GC. The N64 Games disappointed me, and how most of its games sucked really slapped me in the face because of controller layout. Thank god GC has more better games.

SNES to N64. Yes the N64 was somewhat of a letdown in retrospect, but I still say it was the biggest just because of the leap to a whole new dimension, which has been the biggest leap gameplay-wise Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda themselves were introduced.

I have to say though, I somewhat discounted the Wii since it hasn't been officially released yet. It certainly does have a huge amount of potential, though, and I can tell already this will definitely be the biggest leap since the 3d graphic interface.

SNES is my favorite all-time gaming platform, but I don't consider it's leap from the NES to be nearly as big.

I know Super Mario RPG used this technology, but did any other games use it?
