Best EV's for Mewtwo?

I have two Modest mewtwos and I was going to try and atempt to EV train for my first time on mewtwo.

I still don't understand EV training fully but I'm learing from mod who watchs this forum :D now I was looking at smogon and in a mewtwo topic I found this.

HP: 415 | ATK: 318 | DEF:278 | SPD: 358 | SPL: 406

Amnesia
Psychic
Ice Beam/Blizzard
Recover

You don't mess with this set. Period. This thing is banned for a reason, its almost unstoppable. Its stats are so outrageous and it has no downside. Dunno what was going through the minds of the creators.

so what is this? is it really banned? and if so then from what?

I didn't know you could choose to EV train in so many diffrent ways o_O I am wanting to learn still before I take on my team that I am going to EV train when I fully understand EV training.

Latios
Mewtwo
Ho-oh
Lugia
Kyogre
Rayquaza

thanks :D

that mewtwo might be from R/B/Y days, because it's been a long time since amnesia was good.

just EV train it in Special Attack and Speed. 252 EVs in each.

best set, IMO, is:

mewtwo @ leftovers
modest/timid nature
- calm mind
- recover
- thunderbolt/flamethrower
- ice beam/psychic

i suggest bolt/beam, but the other two are workable.

Go with bolt psy, or beam psy. I know bolt/beam is MUCH more useful, but Mewtwo needs Psychic. A good rule is if it aint dark or Steel, it is about to die a horrible painful death to Mewtwo.

Yes, that first set is brilliant. Until you come across a Steel type. Here's my favourite set:

Mewtwo - Leftovers
Bold (+Def, -Atk)

-Psychic
-Thunder Wave
-Clam Mind (deliberate misspelling)
-Recover

Should you come across something resistant to Psychic, you can at least paralyze them and switch out.

What if your opponent holds a Lum Berry?

You must admit though, it's fairly useful on the Defense form of Mewtwo.

This is a myth, have you ever ACTUALLY seen one? It is talked about, but I am sure it does not exist. Mewtwo is not at all made to be on the defense, he is made to kill anything that moves.

that first mewtwo, in the thread creator's post, is the RBY mewtwo, as special defence and special attack were one stat, amnesia effectivly raised both special attack and defence 2 stages which made mewtwo destructive, especially as only electrode was faster then it.

anyway, for an in-game mewtwo;

Modest/Timid
~ Psychic
~ Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Flamethrower / Calm Mind
~ Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Flamethrower / Calm Mind
~ Recover
Evs: 6 hp / 252 spd / 252 special attack

some people might prefer not to use CM in-game as Mewtwo generally ohkos most things anyway without having to raise it's SAtk, especially with things being at a lower level then it is

WhiteWizard42 I really like your moveset alot :D but I can always swich out recover for psychic and use bolt beam.

NOTE:I know this isn't the right pokes that have the correct EV but I am just trying to explain myself and I don't know everything about EV.

Now lets just say that a spinda gives out one sp.atk point when you beat it. so I need to beat 252 spindas to get 252 EV like you guys said? but if I have the macho brace ( I already have like 10) I will only need to fight 126? (is that right?) and if I have the pokerus (which I don't have :/ ) will I need to only fight 63 spindas? so is that right or do I still not get EV training? and is it thae same for getting sp.def ( I think it was sp.def) and hp but for hp I will only need to fight 2 pokes that give out hp EV?

but remember I don't have pokerus. do I need pokerus or does it just make the process go faster but I don't need it if I don't have it? because its gonna take some time for me to get it.

I am still looking over who gives out like what EV and such.

oh, I didn't know which mewtwo was better?

Mewtwo 1
nature: modest

hp: 229
attack: 151
defense: 133
sp.atk: 243
sp.def: 131
speed: 191

Mewtwo 2
nature: modest

hp: 247
attack: 157
defense: 147
sp.atk: 261
sp.def: 134
speed: 202

the second mewtwo has better stats in each catgory. I will train the one that has worse stats for EV training because this is my first time EV training and I don't want to mess up on my good one.

thanks *just trying to get it all right before I try it and I don't want to mess it up)

with nothing: beat 252 of that stat
with pokerus or macho brace: beat 126
with both: beat 63

if you feed it vitamins in those categories, then you only need to fight 152/76/38, respectively.

but for hp I will only need to fight 2 pokes that give out hp EV?
HP EVs are the same as other EVs, i'm not sure what you're talking about when you say that.

you don't need pokerus, it just speeds the process up considerably.

what level are those mewtwos at? if you tell me that, i can tell you their IVs (to within a range of 2). practice on the first one if you want, just to make sure you get it, but once you do, EV train the second one too. wouldn't want those nice stats to go to waste.

as for what to EV train against: spinda/numel give SAtk EVs, so EV training on route 113 is good. just don't kill the skarmorys, you don't want defense. zubat (altering cave) give speed, but if you're not playing emerald you can go to route 118, everything in the grass there gives speed (except kecleon).

what I ment for the hp stat is sense its so low was there anything specail that I had to do for it. but I need to fight 6 ????? (what pokemon give out hp EV?) pokemon that give out hp EV, but sense I have macho brace I will only have to fight 3 right?

BOTH mewtwo's are at lv 70. so let me get this straight. (remember I don't have pokerus and I don't want to try and get it but I have the macho brace) so I need to fight 126 spinda/numel for sp.atk and 126 zubat for speed right? and of course 3/6 (still waiting for an anwser) of a pokemon that give out hp EV?

yes I am playing in emerald.

oh, before I forget I wanted to ask. so when I fight all of these pokemon and I max out my pokemon's stats what lv will they be at? will he be at lv 100 or like 90 or something? if not lv 100 should I keep training?

thanks a bunch :D I am starting to understand it alot more :D

with a macho brace, you only need to fight 2 whismur to get the 4 HP EVs you want.

beating low-level spinda/zubat doesn't level you up very much, so if they're now level 70, don't expect to see them go any higher than 72 or 73 by the time you're done with EV training. after you max out EVs (you can tell whether you have by talking to the lady next to the energy guru in slateport), it doesn't matter what you fight. just level it up to 100 however you want, even rare candies. it won't have any effect on final stats.

if your at level 70 at beat about 126 spinda, when you level up to level 71, you will see that the ev training is working, as your SAtk will probably go up anywhere from 7 to 18 points, while the rest go up about 2,3 or 4.
