I just got Emerald yesterday. I decided to choose Treecko but I am unsure of what is the best nature. I only plan to use it for getting through the game, not competitively or in contests. Could anyone recommend a good nature and a moveset?

Brave. You're going to need attack moves and you can afford to lose some speed. That is if it is going to be the only thing you'd use. If not, it's up to whatever you're going to use. I've restarted and beaten Emerald 100 something times with only 1 of the starters. It's up to you. Modest isn't good if it's your only one as you're going to need Atk moves and you'll have a weak attack and get clobbered by the Elite Four.

Not at all. Modest Sceptile (unbred) can pull Leaf Blade/Dragon Claw/Giga Drain/Thunderpunch, one of the better unbred move combinations.

Personally, I'd recommend Modest or Timid for in-game, probably Timid over Modest for the Battle Frontier. DO NOT use Brave or any other nature that reduces Special Attack or Speed; those are Sceptile's strengths. I would also recommend that you consider rebreeding at some point to get Crunch onto a Sceptile (breed with Bagon/Shelgon/Salamence) as Modest/Timid Sceptile with Leaf Blade/Dragon Claw/Crunch/Thunderpunch is quite strong.

Back I guess??
Get anything, random good IVs are extremely hard to get and It won´t be EV trained correctly, so get any treecko now and breed it with a modest or timid ditto (holding Everstone) to frontier. It will save your time and natures aren´t SO important in-game.

Then you ask me, Why? here´s the answer:

A) You can´t get bagon before E4
B) You can´t get Move tutor who teaches T-punch Before E4
C) Dragon claw is a good move to be wasted in a pokémon un-ev trained with bad IVs.

you can get bagon as soon as you get the 8th badge, actually. all you need is waterfall.

however, he's right that worrying about good movesets for beating the E4 and in-game battles outside of battle tower/frontier is pretty pointless.

As I mentioned in the Recently Happening topic, I am currently breeding for a modest treecko with desired stats so I can at least use a TM for dragon claw as currently in the daycare are:

male mild seviper that knows crunch, flawless hp/sp.att/speed/attack
female modest treecko, flawless sp.att

The keeper shall be a modest treecko with wonderfully oustanding in abilities and flawless sp.att/speed or impressive in abilities and flawless hp/sp.att/speed at least.

I did finally get a modest male sceptile with flawless hp/sp.atk/speed and what appears to be 28-29 in sp.def but only 6-7 in defense, so I really have to watch out for poison or flying attacks with this one. I went ahead and taught it thunderpunch & dragon claw.

Modest.

It's special attack is it's strength, so abuse it as much as you can and don't worry about regular attack moves, but special.

It depends what you'll use it for. DO NOT use any +atk nature because it's a special sweeper and not a physical one. Mild or Modest or Timid is OK because it's fast anyway.

You are either in the wrong forums or being wrong on purpose[/sarcasm]

You can, but after the 8th gym. Otherwise the E4 would be impossible to get to.

You will be missed:(
Modest works best. I'm breeding for a modest Treecko myself. And you can use Seviper to breed Crunch on a Treecko as well.

Modest works better, since it gives Special Attack a slight boost. Since Speed has a 120 base stat, while Special Attack has a 105, the boost would be better placed in Special attack. Therefore, go Modest.

i'd say modest if u want sp. attk and timid if u want speed

Hasty reduces defense and Sceptile has 3 (am I right?) physical weaknesses
that will kill Sceptile.
