Best Starter

Hehe... yeah im sounding noobish but I just can not decide which starter I should choose for Silver. Totodile is good because I can later teach it Ice Punch so I can easily beat my rival and Lance very easily. Cyndaquil is my fav and he has a better base stats and is an all-around great Pokemon. So who should I choose?

EDIT: I have beaten the game with both its just that they are both so dang good!!!111

Well, they are all good, and even though you didn't talk about it, I like Chikorita. But, if you want it to be easy, take Cyndaquil. I think it's the easiest to go with.

If you're deciding between cyndiquil and totodile, I'd go with Cyndiquil. Totodile is good though once it evolves into feraligatr, but the bad thing is that it has high attack, but medicore special attack, so its STAB attacks go to waste... :( It can still be a decent physical sweeper though, I've used it effectively. Typhlosion has great special attack, so it can make great use of STAB on fire attacks, which is why I reccommend it.

You know, Chikorita is good, too. Meganium may be weak in the attack department, but it has strong defenses, so it can be used as a tank if you need one :D

They're all about equal. Typhlosion is a fairly decent Special Sweeper or even a mixed one, Feraligatr's a decent Physical Sweeper (but with the capacity to utilise Hydro Pump or Surf equally well, just not other Special Attacks) and Meganium's a good defensive supporter. Depends what you need. Don't choose Chika if you're planning to sweep the game with your starter alone though... hmm... I may do that one of these days...

IT DOESN'T ****ING MATTER WHICH ONE YOU TAKE, JUST GET FIVE OTHER POKEMON THAT COVER WHAT THEY DON'T DO SO WELL AND IT WILL BE FINE.

Just get the pokemon you like best, you obviously don't want to use Chikorita from the way you talk so there's no point me telling you to get one. I really love Meganium.

If not, I say get whichever anime/manga one you like better. For example I love the anime versions of Typhlosion, especially Jimmy's - so I like that, even though I prefer Chikorita. While the anime version of Totodile doesn't do much for me so I don't really care for that one.

I like to start with Chikarita because there are better fire and water types in my opinion. But if you must, I'd say go with Cyndaquil because later you can get Staryu/Slowpoke/Lapras.

too... much...
Meh. Go with a Cyndaquil. They are usually better and easier to beat Leaders for the first halve of the game, then they go to normal against the Leaders in the second halve of the game.

Never chose Chikorita. It sucks the whole way around.

Totodile is about even all the way through the game.

Honestly, it your choice. Just go with something that won't take you forever to complete the game.*coughs**Cyndaquil**coughs*

As I edited in my first post I said I had beaten the game with both its just that I kept on going back and forth about who to choose. So I chose Cyndaquil and Im now in Celadon City getting my 12th badge :). Thanks guys!

Cyndaquil. Typhlosion + High Sp. Atk. + Elemental Punches + Blast burn = instant win.

lol Blast Burn in GSC. lol Blast Burn!

Seriously, like I said, pick what you need (or want, anything can work).
