It wouldn't surprise me too terribly if the new rival had a legendary, but I'm disinclined to believe the new information. Kaiba? Really?

I don't doubt the theory, though. But I don't support it either, since I don't know how Trip's character was received in Japan.

But isn't that the same thing? They're trying to phase him out because he isn't interesting/dynamic, and there will come a time when he'll stop showing up entirely. Not that I hate the guy; I just think it makes sense for the writers to get rid of him now that BW2 is starting.

I think the writers are gonna keep him for the league for their inevitable full battle. I just think they just don't know what to do with him because they've made a really weak character. I believe they tried to make him more interesting with the Alder thing but I don't think it worked out so they decided not to focus on him as much anymore.

I think this new rival is going to be on par with Trip and will have a rivalry built up with Ash from now until the League, so I really doubt they're going to have him battling Ash prior to the League with a Legendary already on his team.
If he's going to be a World Tournament-only rival then I could see that, but I don't think he's going to be.

I think he'll be in both the World Tournament and the League as a rival, maybe even in other episodes as well.

Basically, but phasing out is more... subtle. Even if that's the case, though, I think he'll still come back to get his character wrapped up, even if he doesn't appear anymore from now until that moment comes. A full battle against Ash in the League, like Endoplasmic Reticulum said, or something like that.

I never thought of this and it just now hit me: couldn't Shizui have Corphish? It's on the poster and the only reasonable thing would for it to be Ash's and that's stretching it. I think Shizui having Corphish would be great (even though I would like to see Ash's).

Hey, maybe it could be! I've never thought about that! It does make sense, him being a water type gym leader, still, there might be a chance that it could be Ash's .

So the rumor is that the new rival is named Kaiba and he owns Keldeo? Okay, where exactly did this rumor come from? For now I'll keep my expectations low, although I wouldn't mind it if it was true.

Either way, I just want him to be based on Hihihiroshi/the BW2 rival, and that's it. That is my only wish.
