As the title says, what do you think are the 3 best and worst things about each saga so far? Here are mine (not necessarily in particular order):

Indigo
Best:
1. Original series that started the craze.
2. Many memorable episodes e.g. Pikachu's Goodbye, Bye Bye Butterfree, The Path to the Pokemon League, etc.
3. Charizard!
Worst:
1. Ash not earning many of his badges 'properly'.
2. Ash and Gary didn't battle once despite being big rivals.
3. The nature of his loss to Richie.

Orange Islands
Best:
1. A nice short saga.
2. Ash actually winning a tournament.
3. Charizard finally obeying Ash.
Worst:
1. Brock was replaced (even though I didn't mind Tracy that much).
2. The gyms were not that interesting despite being different (I liked the last one though).
3. No evoutions (lol couldnt think of anything else).

Johto
Best:
1. Brock returning.
2. Ash defeating Gary.
3. Charizard returning despite being released.
Worst:
1. Too many boring fillers.
2. Only 1 evolution.
3. Ash starting to lack a true rival as Gary started to change and not appear much.

Hoenn
Best:
1. Misty being replaced by May.
2. Contests were a good addition.
3. More evolutions.
Worst:
1. Ash lacking a true rival.
2. Max was annoying at times and should have got at least 1 pokemon.
3. Ash not using any of his old pokemon (except Pikachu).

Battle Frontier
Best:
1. Some really good battles.
2. Many of Ash's old pokemon used throughout the series.
3. Another 'victory' to go with Orange Islands.
Worst:
1. Max (see Hoenn Worst #2).
2. No sign of Glalie (only Hoenn pokemon not used during the entire saga).
3. Contests weren't as interesting as Hoenn in my opinion.

D/P
Best:
1. A true rival at last with Paul and also a comic relief rival with Barry.
2. Many epic battles including Ash vs Paul in the league.
3. A proper villain with Hunter J.
Worst:
1. A very long saga.
2. Lack of good rivals for Dawn.
3. Ash losing to an overpowered trainer in the league after such a great performance prior to his loss.

Best Wishes (So Far)
Best:
1. Much faster pacing.
2. Ash catching many pokemon.
3. Team Rocket not being annoying.
Worst:
1. Ash being significantly rebooted undoing all the progression made during the past few sagas.
2. No Brock (first time two brand new main characters).
3. Trip an inferior rival to Paul.

And to rank the sagas from best to worst:
1. D/P
2. Battle Frontier
3. Hoenn
4. Best Wishes (So Far)
5. Orange Islands
6. Indigo
7. Johto

Besides Ash vs Paul,I can't think of one good thing to say about D/P
I'm sorry but I hated that whole saga.

I didn't hate the whole Saga. But I do agree the Sinnoh saga was very long and boring with to much filler. I also hated Dawn and I also hated Brock at that point too.

Witchan

Shauntal, FTW!
Here's what I have to say about Sinnoh.

Best 3 things:
Ash vs. Paul
Team Galactic's Saturn
Brock (those are the only characters that made the Saga interesting, IMO)

Worst 3 things:
Interactism (sorry, but the interactism in Sinnoh was dull and boring, especially when two girls interact with each other
Dawn (I find her boring, so that goes without saying)
Lack of better rivals for Dawn

Trapman

Bazinga!!
I agree on most points. Ash becomig a noob again happens every new region but yeah, in Unova he became an even bigger noob than before.

Dax

Legend
Kanto:

Best:
- Comedy
- Pacing
- Group Interaction

Worst:
- Pointless releases and captures
- Ash never earned most of his badges making him unworthy to reach the league. Easy to enter when they gave them to you.
- Gary and Ash's rivalry wasn't developed how it should

Johto:

Best:
- ... League
- ... this is hard since there isn't a lot that could be considered good... Cyndaquil?
- ... Whirl Cup

Worst:
- Misty being incredibly boring and useless ( and please don't come and reply with the same argument that you post in every thread, I ask as a favor. I think we all get it now. We don't need a reminder. O_O)
- Incredibly boring with senseless fillers
- GS Ball? Lack of evolutions? Should I keep going?

Hoenn:

Best:
- Introduction of May
- Great League and gym battles
- One of the best handled teams

Worst:
- Max
- Brock being useless
- Team Magma and Plasma's development and conclusion

Sinnoh:

Best:
- Dawn, Paul, Hunter J and Barry. The introductions of these new characters was quite refreshing and were handled amazingly.
- Ash's best team to date. Truly shows Ash's skills as a trainer.
- Team Galactic.

Worst:
- Rushed League.
- Dawn's rivals.
- Brock as usual did nothing.

Will comment on BW once I see more of it.

JennaJayfeather

Gangrenous Creature
For some of these I'm going to go rather nostalgic on, because I never really started to analyze the show until I joined the forums. Darn forums messing up my peace and happiness :p

Kanto
Best:
- Comedy
- Ash, Misty and Brock
- The Pokemon

Worst:
-Pacing
-Gary (I just didn't like him >:-( (he was mean to Ash. Ash was my hero back then XDD)
-Plot (really when I look back nothing much happened -.-; )

Johto

Best:
- The Pokemon
- The league
- Had some enjoyable fillers that I rewatch even now :p (everyone bashes it for that XD)

Worst:
-It was pretty long
- GS ball (I'm still waiting to know more than it's "round")
- Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charizard and Misty leaving

Hoenn

Best:

- May and Max joining the main cast
- Contests and May's rivals
- Ash not having a rival (it made him seem more mature)

Worst:

- The Team Aqua and Magma plot
- Steven Stone (I wanted him to do more)

Battle Frontier

Best:

-May, Max and Brock continued to travel with Ash
- Ash battling the Frontier Brains

Worst:

- Voice Changes...I don't know if I'm allowed to say that, but honestly it ruined the show for me. My life came crashing down T_T and I just watched reruns of Kanto - AG until DP

Sinnoh

Best:

- BARRY! :D loved his character to pieces
- Paul and his rivalry with Ash
- Chimchar

Worst:

- Ash, Dawn and Brock as a trio
- Dawn's rivals
- I just got bored with the saga as a whole -.-;

Best Wishes

- Dento :D
- Iris
- Only having new Pokemon

Worst:

I can name things that I think people would think would be the worst...but honestly those things don't absolutely bug me to tears. I rather like BW as of right now...

Gracidea

Aroma Guardian
Indigo
Best:

An amazing fast paced saga with some of the most memorable and funny episode.
Great chemistry between the most recognizable trio.
Magmar Vs charizard was one of the most memorable battles in the anime.

Worst:
Ash earned very few badges by winning.
Ash released his first Pokemon capture.
Giovanni didn't battle Ash for the Earth badge.

Orange Islands
Best:

A very under appreciated saga that was different and fresh.
Creative ways of earning badges like the Race between Blastoise and Lapras.
The epic showdown between Drake's Dragonite and ash's team.

Worst:

The GS Ball was pointless and didn't go anywhere.
Misty not really evolving her Psyduck in Bye bye Psyduck.
Releasing Lapras.

Johto
Best:

Brand new generation of Pokemon
Fresh new region and Gym leaders.
The Pichu brothers.

Worst:

More fillers than episodes that are relevant to the plot.
Lack of evolutions.
Misty didn't get Poliwrath.

Hoenn
Best:

New traveling companions.
Brock returning.
Very different designs in legendary Pokemon.

Worst:
Thunder Armor.
Max was a pointless addition to the show.
Had very mediocre Gym battles that are not very memorable.

Battle Frontier
Best:

Returning to Kanto.
Charizard Vs Articuno.
Misty returned for a few episodes.

worst:
The change of the actors impeded my enjoyment.
The battle with Brandon was badly exacted.
The matches wasn't very memorable.

D/P
Best:

A brand new Rival.
An interesting new trio.
The best league yet with some amazing battles and fluid animation.

Worst:

Cynthia toward the end made no seance and there was really no interesting development.
Dawn and Brock part ways with Ash.
giving away Gliscor.

Zino

Ice Cream Truck
Okay, so...

Kanto
Best:
- Original trio & family feeling
- It's still funny
- Indigo League

Worst:
- Not too many caught or evolved Pokémon
- Ash didn't really "win" all his badges :''D
- Pokémon releases! D:

Orange League:
Best:
- Tracyyyy<3333
- Ash actually won something
- Pokeshipping BD

Worst:
- Kinda fillerish
- GS ball
- Only 4 leaders to beat

Johto:
Best:
- New Pokémon
- Still felt like family + I enjoyed the episodes
- Silver Conference (was the final league's name even that? xD Haven't watched Johto in a long time...)

Worst:
- Needed more rival battles
- No real plot with awesome evil teams (I think... I might be wrong!)
- Again, only one starter evolved

Hoenn:
Best:
- Contests. I wasn't big fan of them first but now I actually enjoy them
- Drew & Harley & Max and surprisingly May (used to hate her, but after watching BF last week I kinda fell for her, she's sweet<3)
- Team Aqua & Team Magma thingy (even when it wasn't very good)

Worst:
- No rival for Ash
- No Misty DDD:
- Kinda boring episodes sometimes

Battle Frontier:
Best:
- Ash won it! Awesome Frontier Brains
- Not so many filler episodes outside of battles and contests
- Return of Charizard, Bulbasaur and Squirtle

Worst:
- May won sometimes too "easily" because of the tight schedule
- They didn't meet all the awesome Kanto people again D:
- Team Rocket getting really old already. . .

Diamond & Pearl:
Best:
- PAUL !!! <3 Best thing in Pokémon world
- Team Galactic and all the awesome side characters
- Mature!Ash

Worst:
- Dawn! D: The most annoying thing ever and makes DP pain to watch
- No more family feeling (thank the above)
- Too long wait between the gymmatches

Best Wishes:
Best:
- Serious Team Rocket
- Oshawott, Kibago + all the other awesome Pokémon + Iris & Dento
- Shooti! I can't believe I didn't like him in the beginning...

Worst:
- Ash not being mature anymore (but I like him in this anyway! xD)
- Missing of the Team Plasma (excluding those episodes)
- Can't think of anything else, since I love this Saga so far!<3

Kanto

Positives

-English dubbed wise, it had an awesome opening.

-Had good comedy

-Ash got better as the series went on, battle wise I mean.

-Ash had a lot of cool Pokemon.

-The music was really good.

-Pokemon the First Movie

-Loved how they did the league here.

-Brock had personality still.

-Animation was fun to watch.

-Team Rocket {Butch/Cassidy} are introduced. Really liked the introduction too, Ash/the gang getting thrown in prision due to them for a bit pretty cool.

Cons

-Richie {Did not like Ash clone, the fact that he beat Ash himself at the end was horrible.}

-Misty {I hated her attitude towards Ash}

Orange Islands

Positives

-For an anime only saga, it had some epic episodes, such as the one where other Team Rocket took controll over the Pokemon.

-Team Rocket {Butch/Cassidy} Returning more epic than ever!

-Animation got better.

-Team Rocket {Jessie/James/Meowth} Get more episodes. They are twice as funny too.

-Tracey comes in, I liked him ^

-Ash won.

-Had a lot of intresting gym battles.

Cons

-Tracey didn't get a lot of episodes, he only got one or two.

-Tracey didn't get a lot of development.

-Ash had no rivals this time.

Jhoto/Champion

Positives

-Had a lot of fun/funny fillers.

-Team Rocket was very funny.

-Ash V.S Gary {It was awesome} he didn't even need Misty or Brock's help here.

-The ending to the league.

Cons

-Too many fillers.

-Not that many rivals.

-Misty/Brock didn't do a thing.

AG

Positives

-Introduction of May {Thought they did a really good job too}

-Contests in AG { The way May got into them was cool}

-May's rivals {Harley/Drew} Were epic!

-All the people for a day were fun this time around.

-Ash was really mature here.

-Ash was a mentor to May/Max {That was fun}

-May/Max's brother/sister relationship was cute and new to watch.

-Ash's battles/gym battles were great and exciting {No pitty badges either}

-May V.S Drew

-Ash V.S May

Cons

-The episode May won against Ash at the start of the series, the people in her town were so annoying, they were booing Ash and cheering May and he lost just by that and May didn't even say any thing. Ash was doing great here too dispite all of his Pokemon being tired from the last few battles, worst idea ever!

-Max {Horrible character really}

-Ash had no rivals!

-I think contests got more screen time =/

-May's ending was horrible, she didn't even cry. You couldn't even tell she was Ash's friend, heck Max had a better ending than she did.

D/P

Positives

-Dawn {Loved her character, my favorite female main character}

-Ash/Dawn's friendship {They had the chemistry and they really helped each other out}

-Ash/Paul's rivalry was epic!

-While some say the league was a bit rushed, Ash V.S Paul and Ash V.S Conway were the best.

-Some arcs such as the tag team and school was fun.

-Enjoyed some of the characters such as Conway/Barry/Angie.

-Ash's arua is still being used.

-All the Pokemon.

-Dawn's ending was ten times better than May's, you actually saw how much the group cared for each other.

-Hunter J/Ash's battles were intense.

-Hunter J

-Team G was delt with better than the last evil teams.

Cons

-Brock did nothing, he even started to notice.

-Brock/Dawn's friendship, oh wait there was no friendship.

-Team Rocket had no humor this series.

-Dawn's rivals were boring.

-Contests were not as fun this time around.

-Dawn did not win the Grand Festival, shame too cuz that would have been a great send off.

Black and White

I know its still going but.

Positives

-Ash/Iris/Dento have great chemistry.

-Animation got better.

-Love Ash catching so much Pokemon.

-The enitre trio have rivals maybe???

-Ash/Trips rivalry has been fun {I'm one of the few who thinks so.}

-I like how they are dealing with Iris/Dento even though they are sidekicks.

Cons

-Oak/Ash's mom don't visit dispite being in the same region dang.

-Team Rocket has no humor and whenever they appear they do nothing these days.

Floatzel rules!
There are many things in the anime that I like, but a bunch of stuff that I really cannot stomach, here are all of the things I like and dislike about each saga.

Original series

Best:
-Ash, Misty, and Brock
-Comedy
-Team Rocket
-Character development

Worst:
-Ash not battling Giovanni
-Ash losing the league
-Electric Soldier Porygon, enough said

Orange Islands

Best:
-Tracey
-Gen 2 Pokemon
-Ash winning the league

Worst:
-The fights with Cissy and Dani were not really battles at all
-Barely any episodes focusing on Tracey
-Barely any focus on the GS ball at all

Johto

Best:
-Brock is back
-Gen 2 Pokemon
-Wobbufett

Worst:
-Dumping the GS ball
-No new rivals
-Filler that dragged out forever
-Ash losing the league again
-Dumping Misty

Hoenn

Best:
-May
-Drew and Harley
-Contests

Worst:
-Max, he did not even need to exist, his character was pointless
-No new rivals for Ash
-Boring, not very memorable Gym battles
-The Groudon vs. Kyogre episode, and they were done before Mossdeep city when they could have waited until Sootopolis
-Thunder Armor, it was not needed, and was completely pointless
-May losing the Grand Festival
-Ash losing the league..... again

Battle Frontier

Best:
-Back in Kanto again
-Better animation
-Less filler
-Getting rid of Max
-Ash winning the Battle Frontier

Worst:
-Team Rocket changed their motto
-Getting rid of May
-Boring, not very memorable battles

Sinnoh

Best:
-Paul
-Pokemon Hunter J
-Barry
-A more mature acting Ash
-Epic, memorable battles

Worst:
-Focusing less on Ash and his Gym Battles, and more on Dawn winning contests
-Piplup, just Piplup
-Team Rocket changed their motto
-Brock barely did anything, he only caught two Pokemon, and then just sat there
-The plotlines got too repetitive
-Team Rocket got boring
-Ash never met the Frontier Brains or challenged the Sinnoh Frontier, he just met Palmer in one episode and that was it
-The filler, seriously, the FILLER
-Dawn losing the Grand Festival
-The league was rushed
-Ash losing the league again, this time, to a guy who had two legendaries, seriously, TWO LEGENDARIES, whoever was running the tournament was obviously asleep, since Pokemon like that are normally not allowed in tournaments

Best Wishes

Best:
-Less filler
-Getting rid of Brock
-Iris and Cilan
-Character development
-Oshawott and Axew
-Epic, memorable battles
-Changing Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny's outfits
-Less repetitive plotlines

Worst:
-Ash acting like his Season 1-2 self, putting all that character development in previous seasons to waste
-Serious Team Rocket, mainly because they just did not seem like Team Rocket at all, they acted like competely different people,
-Putting Team Rocket back in the white uniforms with no real explanation why
-Skipping the Team Plasma episodes (for now)
-The complete abscence of N (for now)

Kanto:
Best:
-Group dynamics
-The humor
-imo, just the right length, I felt like 80-ish episodes was pretty good.
Worst:
-Despite being a main rival, Gary was rarely seen
-Ash not actually 'earning' half of his badges
-Lot's of pointless releases (Butterfree, Pidgeot, Primeape)

Johto:
Best:
-The Whirl Cup
-Ash and Gary's League Battle...
-???
Worst:
-GS Ball not being resolved
-Misty not doing as much as she should've, along with the way that she left
-Too many fillers

Hoenn:
Best:
-The introduction of May and Contests
-Drew
-Ash having a pretty good team
Worst:
-No rival for Ash...
-The Team Aqua/Team Magma finale
-Brock staying and not doing anything

Sinnoh:
Best:
-Dawn and Barry, character wise
-Ash and Paul's rivalry
-Team Galactic
Worst:
-WAY too long
-Brock not doing anything again, and kill me for saying this, I don't care, the fact that Misty didn't appear.
-Very rushed League, and no return to Pallet

And... I don't really feel like doing Unova when it's not done yet.

Your Big Buff Bro
Kanto-
Best!
1. The whole main beginning of the series! The first episode was quite a treat with the introduction of Ash and Pikachu.
2. The entertaining jokes and banter that happens from time to time. Just cracks me up. xP
3. Ho-Oh foreshadowing the future of the franchise; for generations to come. :0

Worst...
1. Ash not winning most of his badges properly.
2. Fast/Slow/Mixed pacing.
3. Ash releasing his Butterfree, Primeape (given away) and Pidgeot. So sad. ;-;

Johto-
Best!
1. Bayleef and Totodiles' adorable gimmick characteristics.
2. Heracross :3 Although he didn't appear as much as I wish he could have.
3. Ash feeling the pain of how ridiculously tough Whitney is, as she is in the game.

Worst...
1. Misty leaving. I'd add Brock but he comes back in Hoenn. I just hate goodbyes.
2. Kingler getting hurt, thus making it unable to enter the League.
3. Expected events getting dropped; mainly just the GS Ball plot. But oh well, live and move on.

Hoenn
Best!
1. Contests. They were pretty cool to watch.
2. Harley. This guy is amusing in so many ways.
3. Forming a 4 person group for the main cast. May was especially cool to bring in the show.

Worst...
1. Ash easily winning his Mauville Gym battle.
2. Misty's Togepi/Togetic being released to protect to Mirage Kingdom.
3. Ash not having an overall series rival. Morrison and Tyson are good but don't cut it close for being introduced late.

Sinnoh
Best!
1. Rivals; notably Paul, Barry, Conway, Zoey and Ursula.
2. The main gang's Pokemon characters. Almost all of them have a unique personality.
3. The interesting combinations in both contests/gym battles. It's neat how both of them even came together in relation from time to time. The form of it made the experience well amazing.

Worst...
1. Two long gaps between gym battles; Gardenia - Maylene; 30+ episodes, Candice - Volkner; 50+ episodes; almost an entire season length.
2. Mediocre events for anticipated major story arcs/plots.
3. Releasing Pokemon; this season was different, for I grew up with some of them in the Advanced saga (Cacnea, Dustox, Aipom/Ambipom). I say the same for Gligar/Gliscor but he's just in training. And he got to appear in the League.

KANTO
Best:
- Ash´s team
- Team Rocket
- Gym Leaders´s personalities

Worst:
- Brock
- Ash not earning half of his badges
- The begining of "We´ll battle/see each other again sometime", seriously, at the end of Kanto, I wanted to see Ash getting Primeape and Butterfree back and Ash vs. AJ and/or Ash vs. Giselle in the League

ORANGE ISLANDS:
Best:
- No Brock
- Ash vs. Drake
- Snorlax

Worst:
- Tracey´s treatment, come on, even in the only movie he featured, he barely said a thing
- Lapras´s release
- Crystal Onix ... come on

JOHTO:
Best:
- Totodile
- Whirl Cup
- Team Rocket arcs

Worst:
- Brock
- No Johto Elite Four
- No main characters rotation, I would liked to see Jimmy since the beginning

HOENN:
Best:
- May´s journey (that includes rivals and contests)
- Ash training more seriously (Dewford arc, Pikachu´s Iron Tail)
- Ash and May´s teacher/student relationship

Worst:
- Brock
- No Hoenn Elite Four besides Drake
- Team Aqua/Team Magma ending, they we´re developed great, but the end was crap, I was hoping something like Ash and the gang going to Sky Tower to awake Rayquaza

BATTLE FRONTIER:
Best:
- Kanto Grand Festival: May vs. Drew
- Ash using his reserves
- Frontier Brains being in the anime

Worst:
- Brock
- Kanto not being really Kanto after Saffron City and Mt. Moon, Crysanthemum Island?, Gardenia Town?, Mulberry Town?, come on, wouldn´t be the same turn that places into Seafoam, Celadon and Viridian?
- May´s and Max´s departure was really ... simple

SINNOH:
Best:
- Cynthia, she´s so awesome that she used her Garchomp as a weapon to threat Jupiter
- Wallace Cup
- Better evil team treatment

Worst:
- Brock
- No Battle Frontier and getting crappy fillers instead
- Aipom/Buizel trade, I wanted to see Buizel appealing at least once

UNOVA:
Best:
- No Brock ... AT LAST!!!
- Awesome Iris and Cilan
- Trip

Worst:
- I kinda miss a sidequest to Ash´s compannions
- No Cheren at sight
- It looks like postponed episodes will be postponed ... forever :S

Here is mine:
Kanto:
Best!
-slapstick humor and great group dynamic
-wacky plots like Island of Giant pokemon or unique mini arcs like Sabrina was.
-gym leaders having more outgoing personalities

Worst:
-pretty bad pacing between gyms
-half of gym battles being interrupted
-release of some pokemon too quickly not allowing them to show their full potential(like Primeape)

Orange Islands:
Best!
-being anime exclusive arc adding to unpredictability
-fantastic league with spectacular battle against champion
-inclusion of Snorlax

Worst!
-Brock being replaced after too short period
-Tracey not being developed at all not staying long enough
-lack of rivals for Ash

Johto:
Best!
-gym battles and battling in general being improved
-several mini-arcs like Whirl Cup,.Red Gyarados,Lugia etc
-interacting between group being on is height with Brock return being a welcomed plus too

Worst!
-Misty being replaced not being enough fleshed out as character with story being left unfinished
-too many fillers which coučd have been used for something more productive
-drop of GS ball

Hoenn:
Best!
-contests being added being nice touch to show offering something new
-Ash growing more as character being mature enough to take on mentor role using different approach toward battles
-Brock having someone to who he could relate having pretty good chemistry with Max

Worst!
-lack of focus for Brock and Max with some pokemon being terribly shafted
-Some of May contest battles being rather unrealistic
-fiasco of Team Magma and Plasma

Battle Frontier:
Best!
-different type of quest than usual gyms
-May contests got improved with more effort being out into them along with rivalry between her and others being little better executed
-return of some of Ash older pokemon like Donphan using mix of previous and new pokemon

Worst!
-lack of reference to older characters and places Ash traveled through with return to Kanto being basically different region with same name.
-some of Ash wins over Frontier Brains being unrealistic and questionable(like Pikachu incredible resistance over Regice or Charizard win over Articuno)
-Team Rocket starting to go nowhere

Sinnoh:
Best!
-Ash finally get proper rival like Paul
-big step forward in treatment of villains like Team Galactic or Hunter J
-return of some long time forgotten characters like Gary or even Jasmine. And of course May.

Worst:
-Misty being ignored like she never existed.
-interacting between DP group being worst compared to other regions
-too many episodes focusing on practicing attacks for appeals or training

Unova(so far):
Best!
-Dento and Iris being good characters offering some pretty good interacting
-Team Rocket finally being involved in some serious role becoming more competent with Giovanni return guaranteeing something big being to expect
-potential of Ash receiving female rival like Bianca who will not end up as failed attempt.

Worst:
-lack of older pokemon, characters or references to past in new region
-Unova seeming little like rehash of original series in some aspects defeating purpose of characters being added
-Ash while not being reseted like some like to think still being toned down little more than usual in battling experience. He is nowhere near like he was in Kanto but he isnt competent like he was in DP either.

Johto:
Worst:
- Misty being incredibly boring and useless ( and please don't come and reply with the same argument that you post in every thread, I ask as a favor. I think we all get it now. We don't need a reminder. O_O)

I would only like to hear reasoning behind this though.
As far as character goes i find Misty interesting personality wise in Johto just like she was in Kanto and OI.She showed ton of personality starting to mature having funny and enjoyable chemistry with Ash and others like Sakura,Egan etc.

But i agree about not doing nearly enough especially for such a long region, though to be fair she battled more in Johto compared to previous regions still mentoring Ash on some occasions having noteworthy moments.
Certainly more than i can say for Brock.

munchlaxboy

Catching up on XY
Though I am incredibly biased towards the Original Series (Kanto, Orange Islands, and Johto), I'll try to be as fair as my fingers (who are the ones typing this) will allow me to be.

Kanto

Best
- Character Interactions
- Every single episode was watchable, hilarious, and memorable.
- Short, Sweet, and Hilarious

Worst
- Kept me wondering if Goldeen/Horsea/Zubat were still alive.
- Ash vs. Ritchie
- League/Gym battles were either missing or too short.

Orange Islands

Best
- PokeShipping, PokeShipping, and more PokeShipping + the same great personalities of Ash and Misty
- Ash winning a League (Ash vs. Drake)
- Addition of Snorlax and Poliwag

Worst
- Brock being replaced (Tracey was just too bland.)
- Ash vs. Gary (That was a bullcrap battle.)
- Pidgeot being released (and never to be seen again).

Johto

Best
- The Orignal Trio was back and the character interaction was just as great as before.
- The League (Ash vs. Gary, much?)
- With more episodes, we got to see even more of our favorite characters and their Pokemon, who were bubbling with personality (Totodile <3).

Worst
- Got a wee-bit fillerish (pacing).
- Cyndaquil was poorly handled (should have evolved in this saga).
- Vulpix's goodbye (or, should I say, 'lack of a') was absolute bullcrap. That was Brock's main Pokemon (just watch the Johto League Champions intro), and it just leaves without so much as a single wave goodbye from Brock.

Hoenn

Best
- It still had some humor.
- Great Pokemon with great personalities (Corphish).
- May was OK.

Worst
- ...Where's Misty?... :(... Oh wait! There she is! And... SHE RELEASED TOGEPI!?!?!?! GAH!!!! (second most aggravating thing in Pokemon Anime history)
- Max was worthless.
- ...Am I supposed to care about Contests?

Battle Frontier

Best
- Old Pokemon got a nice return.
- Ash won again.
- Back in Kanto

Worst
- TPCI taking over and giving us the future horrible voices of the franchise. I could have made better sounding voices myself.
- Butterfree? Pidgeot? Kingler? ...Primeape? (missed opportunities)
- It took Ash three tries to win. Seriously?

Sinnoh

Best
- The League...wait, no...I can't think of anything else.
- Paul, I guess...
- GARY!?!

Worst
- THE MAIN CHARACTERS. Where is Brock and what have you done to him?! Dawn was annoying and bland (IMO). And Contests went from mildly entertaining to a snooze-fest. Also, is Ash always this stale and typical?
- Team Rockets sucks at everything now, including humor.
- Cyndaquil evolving in this saga was the third most aggravating thing I have ever witnessed (but that's a separate argument/tirade). Oh, and it barely did anything it the League. And where were Totodile and Bayleef? WTF!

Unova (have barely watched it, but...)

Best
- Kanto set-up
- Faster pacing
- Put Brock out of his misery.

Worst
- Serious Team Rocket? Lack of Team Rocket in every episode? WTF
- Ash sucks. Pikachu (though deprived of its electricity) can't beat an inexperienced, brand new Snivy. BULL. It's like everything before this saga never happened...
- And the most aggravating, absolute worst thing the writers have ever done: Ash is still 10. WHY?! Forget those past 14 years of development. It all NEVER happened. Based on the episode count and basic time tidbits here and there, Ash should have been 12-14. GAH! IT MAKES ME SO F'IN ANGRY!

Ranking (Best to Worst)
1. Kanto
2. Johto
3. Orange Islands
4. Hoenn
5. Battle Frontier
6. Sinnoh
7. Unova

ChaosMage

Izit cuz I is black?
KANTO

Best:
1. Great humour and character dynamics
2. A number of cool and memorable pokemon (particularly Ash's starters, Psyduck, Jigglypuff)
3. Many memorable supporting characters who left an impression

Worst:
1. Lopsided pacing- the first six gyms covered before Episode 40 and then a huge drought with mostly filler
2. Ash winning badges for silly reasons
3. Characters like Gary and Giovanni being set up as major adversaries and then not being very well utilised (most likely as a result of the show being extended past the planned 80-episode run)

ORANGE ISLANDS
Best:
1. Character development for Ash's pokemon, in particular Charizard. This is when they all really came into their own.
2. Several great new captures, like Snorlax and Poliwag (later Politoed)
3. A different take on the traditional pokemon gym formats, and Ash proving himself as a great trainer for the first time and not just a lucky sod.

Worst:
1. Not a single evolution for the entire cast
2. A hell of a lot of fillers, very few of which showcased anything we hadn't seen before
3. Absolutely nothing new for Team Rocket

JOHTO
Best:
1. Several Kanto characters returning. Even if their episodes weren't all that interesting and there were other characters I would have preferred to see more of, it still was nice to see Duplica, Todd, Ritchie and Aya again.
2. Some great additions to the team, although the writers seemed a bit too reluctant to let go of the Kanto mainstays.
3. Legitimate gym battles with no cheap wins

Worst:
1. Kanto pokemon hogging the spotlight in the Johto League
2. SO MANY BORING FILLERS!!!
3. Not enough Johto pokemon added to the main cast. Sure, we got Cyndaquil, Chikorita/Bayleef, Totodile, Noctowl, Phanpy, Heracross, Crobat, Corsola, Politoed, Pineco/Forretress, Larvitar, Togepi and Wobbuffet... but that's only 15 species out of 94 non-legendary 2nd Generation pokemon. Kanto and the Orange Islands featured twice as many 1st Gen pokemon on the main cast, and the two sagas added together were shorter than this one.

HOENN
Best:
1. The addition of contests, and the character of May to showcase them. We had a new type of training campaign and another storyline to balance out Ash's.
2. The brave move of almost entirely revamping Ash's, Brock's and Team Rocket's teams.
3. Spreading out the starters, allowing for Ash to capture a less predictable team.

Worst:
1. They never really did anything with Max apart from the occasional one-off pokemon friend. I didn't dislike the character, there was just a lack of devlopment.
2. Teams Aqua and Magma were a massive disappointment.
3. Ash lacked a long-term rival, despite Wally being an obvious choice from the games. Morrison could well have been good for a whole saga in retrospect.

BATTLE FRONTIER
Best:
1. Sceptile and Blaziken, who became Ash and May's big stars and the first fully-evolved starters on the main cast since Charizard
2. Good quick pacing after that slow start
3. Ash's most challenging opponents so far, which led to a couple of big evolutions and some long-awaited returns from old favourites

Worst:
1. May's contest rivals started to get a bit repetitive and the writers were relying on the brilliance of Harley a bit too much.
2. Several of the best Hoenn pokemon (Glalie, Torkoal, Skitty, Ludicolo, Chimecho, May's Bulbasaur) were written out early when it wasn't vital that they leave
3. That bloody Squirtle! I hate that thing so damn much!

SINNOH
Best:
1. Despite its length, it all felt very planned out and well-paced with plenty of twists and turns. Even the year-long gap between the last two gyms was jam-packed with great stuff. Hunter J, a more complex contest arc, plenty of evolutions and new moves/strategies... all contributed to a very fulfilling saga.
2. Some unexpected captures who turned out to be well-developed, likeable breakout characters (Mamoswine, Gliscor, Gible etc)
3. The entire Paul/Infernape storyline, which was masterfully done by the standards of this show.

Worst:
1. I know a lot of people liked it, but I felt let down by the Galactic storyline. Not enough Cyrus development, not enough time spent on the legendaries, surprisingly few appearances.
2. A bit rushed towards the end, with several characters not getting their dues.
3. The league didn't deliver on its massive potential. The Ash/Paul battle was great at moments but some of Paul's pokemon weren't at the standard which had been established for him (not to mention too much of the glory was given to Infernape), Ash brought over more reserves than the writers had time to show, Tobias wasn't developed and came across as a Deus Ex Machina when a simple flashback could have sorted that out... yeah, another two or three episodes at least would have been needed to do everything the Sinnoh league was capable of doing.

UNOVA (so far)
Best:
1. Ash seems to be capturing considerably more pokemon than any saga before, and often unpredictably. The emphasis on personality is continuing to show, and every pokemon on the cast is fun to watch.
2. Iris and Cilan have established goals and, in the case of Iris, it really feels like it's headed somewhere. They're also fun characters in general.
3. Team Rocket are only showing up when they're relevant to the plot and can really add something, while there are actual storylines occuring with the organisation. I didn't like the boring, super-serious Team Rocket but now they're back to a good balance.

Worst:
1. Ash's Pikachu and starters are dominating his team, and as much as I like them there's a lot of pokemon being sidelined and who will most likely continue to be sidelined.
2. So far we're yet to see N and I fear that we're going to wind up with another game character who gets shoehorned in and loses a dimension or two in the transition (like Cyrus)
3. Trip is like a less interesting version of Paul with a bit of Cheren thrown in... couldn't they just use Cheren?

So those are my thoughts

Juputoru

M-m-m-m-onobear?!
There's not really any discussion going on here, so I'm taking the liberty of moving this to Pokepolls.

Kanto
The good:
-Comedy!
-Lots of original plots that we never got to see the likes of again(ex. Ghost of Maiden's peak)
-Provided the most backstory we'll ever get for TR * the Pallet Town people.
The bad:
-Excessive focus on the starters+Pikachu, leaving all of Ash's other Kanto Pokemon to cry in their Pokeballs.
-The battles sucked. I can only think of two Kanto battles that were worth a damn - Charizard VS Magmar and Pikachu VS Raichu. The rest of them were terrible, particularly in comparison to the battles we get nowadays.
-Gary was a pathetic excuse for a rival. He never really battled Ash, and his personality was one-dimensional.

Orange Islands
The good:
-Creative takes on gym challenges. This could only be a blessing since the writers were still kind of bad at writing battles.
-Had a few really weird situations, like the island of pink pokemon & the island with the crystal Onix.
-Ash actually won a league! (even if it's one that nobody else in the Pokemon world seems to care about)
The bad:
-Tracey. He's always been bland, and he never got to do anything particularly imporant. He was just kind of...there...as a Brock replacement. Pity they never did much of anything with his sketching skills.
-Not a very memorable saga overall. Part of this is due to fillers, part of this is because it's not attached to any particular set of games.
-The writers didn't even pretend to give Ash a rival for this saga.

Johto
The good:
-Better battles than we saw in Kanto and OI.
-The animation started improving, particularly at the end of Johto.
-The League was pretty great, especially in comparison to what we got in Kanto.
The bad:
-The writers just could not bring themselves to let those goddamned Kanto starers go. There was no excuse for Bulbasaur sticking around for over two goddamned years into the series. As a result, all of the Johto starters got horrifically overshadowed and underdeveloped.
-Ash still didn't have any real rivals. Gary appeared all of two times before the League, and Casey wound up being a noncontender when all was said and done.
-Things got stretched out waaaaaay too long without much real plot to support it. The writers probably should have tried incorporating GSC's TR plot into this, but all we got was the Red Gyarados arc & the Lugia arc.

Houen
The good:
-Can...can it be? ...it IS! IT'S AN HONEST TO GOD EVIL TEAM PLOT! Oh sure, the TM vs TA plot got a lousy resolution, but what's important here is that the writers finally incorporated an evil team plot into the anime. This helped give Houen staying power, along with...
-Contests! These were a great idea; they gave May something to do, and let the writers stretch Houen out a bit without relying on endless fillers. We also got a lot of great one-shot contest rivals, which kept things fresh.
-Almost all of the Pokemon got actual personalities for the first time in the series! It's a miracle!
The bad:
-Harley was introduced far too late. Drew was okay, but his ~look at me I'm a mysterious, cranky bishounen rival~ schtick didn't provide enough chemistry to sustain an entire contest arc.
-The TA vs TM plot was handled atrociously. Not enough buildup to the climax, and the climax itself veered off in all sorts of weird directions. It also missed the boat in regards to incorporating some of Emerald's plot.
-Max didn't get to do much. The few moments he did get were cute, but overall the writers kind of dropped the ball with this one.

Battle Frontier
The good:
-Battles! Lots of great battles! Many of which involved Ash's reserves!
-The contest arc was better here than it was in Houen, even if there were a few bullshit moments in it.
-Sceptile <3
The bad:
-The writers kind of wasted the whole ASH IS BACK IN KANTO NOW thing by not making any Kanto stuff a focus of the episodes.
-What the fuck was with the string of dumb fillers between the Battle Factory and the Battle Dome? I remember hating it when I first watched this series, and it still looks dumb now. One of them involved A GIANT CATERPIE, for fuck's sake!
-Ash doesn't have any rivals. Not that he had any in Houen either, but still.

DP
The good:
-Ash has...rivals? And they're...memorable? They...actually do things? Is this still Pokemon I'm watching?!
-Holy plot, batman. We got the TG plot(which was handled much better than the TA/TM plot), the chimchar subplot, a bunch of miniarcs like the tag battle tournament, the stuff with Hunter J...DP is full of things happening, and it's awesome for it.
-Lots of nice characterization and character development. All of the villains were memorable and awesome, all of Ash's rivals were great, most of the Pokemon got time to strut their stuff, and we got a few recurring characters who were great(like Conway).
The bad:
-Dawn's rivals. Ursula was introduced way too late. Zoey was nice, but she doesn't have much chemistry with Dawn on her own. Kenny never got to do much.
-What the hell was with Ambipom's release?
-What the hell was with Tobias? Could the writers really not think of a better way to stop Ash from winning the League?
