Betrayal

Umbreon

I had thought I could trust her; after all, our friendship was going along quite well. She was friendly towards all of us. Although... I don’t think she liked how much light my body gave off. There was nothing I could do about that, though, because I was born like that. Always destined to be different from others of my own species... it was a curse I was fed up with. My companions didn’t care that my body gave off so much light... they were used to it... and in the end, I learned to put up with it. But there was always a feeling of self-consciousness, knowing that I was the only Umbreon who had a yellow body and black rings.

My newest friend, Azura – an Articuno/Suicune clone, was fairly shy and only talked to me about her worries; she didn’t think she had enough courage to talk to Ninetales, Rapidash or Grovyle. In return, I looked after her and made sure she kept well away from Mewthree, whose occasional bursts of anger became more frequent now that Azura had befriended me. Ninetales, Rapidash, Grovyle, Azura and I were minding our own business the day Mewthree’s mind snapped and she killed for the first time. Grovyle wasn’t harming anyone; he was just sitting in a tree branch, when the branch broke, causing Grovyle to fall to the ground.

Mewthree levitated over to Grovyle, intending to kill him; she had a mad, insane look in her eyes. You will be the first to go. She said telepathically, her voice sounding harsher. She was no longer the Mewthree we used to know. The Psychic type Legendary raised her five fingered paw-like hand and clenched it together, forming a fist. This action immediately closed Grovyle’s windpipe and the Grass/Steel Pokemon’s body convulsed as his organs shut down. Ninetales, Rapidash, Azura and I watched in horror as our friend lay dying before our eyes... none of us could do anything to help him.

Grovyle took one last breath and passed on; pain and suffering for our dead friend showed in our eyes like stars show up at night. My pain, though, quickly turned to fury and I turned on Mewthree, angrily saying, “Why did you feel it was necessary to kill a fellow clone?” She looked at me blankly and I pointed one paw at Grovyle’s body. “We are all clones,” I repeated. “Why did you do it?” A long silence and then, Kill? What have I done? I can’t remember. I snarled a warning and began to advance on Mewthree. “You have betrayed clones all over the world. No clone would kill another unless there is a perfectly good reason for it. You know the rules, Mewthree!” My voice rose in anger and grief.

Ninetales, Rapidash and Azura came and stood beside me; their faces showed as much grief and anger as mine did. Ninetales’s reddish-purple fur was bristling and her right eye, which was blind, was narrowed dangerously. Rapidash’s deep violet-blue flames were blazing so intensely, his whole body seemed to be on fire. As for Azura... her ruby red eyes showed strong hatred for Mewthree.

Having sensed a powerful psychic aura, and also the death of a fellow Pokemon, I forgot my duties at the Ilex Forest and travelled through time to the correct place. Upon coming through the wormhole, I swung my arm in a circle, thus stopping time. I saw a scene I will never, ever forget. A dead Grovyle, with blood starting to drip from his open mouth... and that Pokemon that Mewtwo had told me about. What was its name again? Ah, yes – Mewthree, the so called Legendary whose psychic powers were four times stronger than Mewtwo’s.

I rewound time, wondering how Grovyle had died and I was shocked at what I saw. Mewthree was using her psychic powers to strangle Grovyle to death. I went back a bit further and saw that Grovyle hadn’t provoked Mewthree in any way. He was simply sitting in a tree branch, minding his own business. Satisfied that the attack was unmerited, I fast-forwarded time to the scene I had seen upon my arrival. I hovered over to Grovyle’s body and touched it with my small hand. Using Psychic, I lifted the body up into the air and used Heal Bell to bring Grovyle back to life. I then opened a wormhole and travelled back to Johto, with Grovyle at my side. To the rest of you, good luck. I said as I departed. And as I vanished, time unfroze itself.

Rapidash

Following the mystifying disappearance of Grovyle’s body, things seemed as if they were calming down. Boy was I wrong! Mewthree spent more and more time muttering nonsense about nothing and hiding in her mind. The next day was perfect; a clear sky with the sun shining brightly and a light breeze... what more could a clone want? But it all went wrong. I was peacefully eating some grass when something exploded in front of me. Startled, I looked up and then I heard a maniacal laugh from behind me. I turned my head, knowing what I’d see, but I was afraid at the same time.

Mewthree... again! “What is it this time?” I asked, keeping my voice as calm as I could. No response. She formed a ball of energy in her hands and deliberately nodded at me. Oh, boy. I’m in trouble, I thought and started galloping as fast as I could. Another evil laugh... I forced myself to run faster. The energy slammed into the ground behind me. I was so terrified now, and fear was clouding my vision. I called on all my energy reserves to run at a speed that was abnormal for my species. I smelt it before I had time to register that there was a lake in front of me. Fear still clouded my vision... I couldn’t stop! I tried to slow down but it was too late.

Again, I travelled back in time, wondering what had gone wrong this time. As with before, I froze time. I was absolutely disgusted at Mewthree’s behaviour. The victim this time was Rapidash... and from what I understood of the scene, Mewthree had forced Rapidash to run for his life, driving him into a lake. I swore silently and proceeded to bring Rapidash out of the lake. I shook my head, dismayed, and used Heal Bell to restore the horse’s life. With Rapidash at my side, I went back to my homeland and prayed to Ho-oh that no more deaths would occur. As soon as the wormhole had closed itself, time restarted.

Ninetales

With Grovyle and Rapidash gone, I had a bad feeling I was next. I would have thought that having killed two of her friends, Mewthree would be depressed. Depressed?! She’s not depressed... I think she actually likes killing. Suddenly, I heard Azura’s piercing call. Turning my head quickly, I watched as Mewthree advanced on Azura; with Umbreon doing the best he could to protect his friend. I released the fiercest snarl and bounded over to them, placing myself in front of Azura. “I wouldn’t do it if I were you.” I snarled again. Mewthree didn’t hesitate for one second... she formed an extremely big ball of psychic energy and hurled it at me. As soon as I hit the tree, and with the force of Psychic hammering me, I felt my life ebb away completely.

For what I hoped was the last time, I travelled back to Kanto, but this time, Ho-oh came with me. I froze time yet again and showed Ho-oh the damage that Mewthree had caused this time. Ho-oh witnessed everything and had sadness written on his face. I promised him I would restore the lost life and proceeded to do so. I flew over to the bloodied body of Ninetales, said a prayer for her and then used Heal Bell. Seconds later, Ninetales was standing up, alive and not a single drop of blood was to be seen on her fur.

I then prepared to open a wormhole and send Ho-oh, Ninetales and myself back to Johto. Just as I was about to enter the wormhole, I heard a plea from Umbreon and Azura. “Thank you for saving us, but please, take Mewthree away and let Ho-oh kill her. It’s so she can experience death for herself. But whatever you do, don’t bring her back to life. She’s caused too much damage. Thanks again, Celebi.” I agreed with them and replied, I’ll take her away and have Ho-oh kill her. Don’t worry, you’ll be safe from now on. With that, I turned around and used Psychic to bring Mewthree up to the wormhole. I mentally pushed her into the wormhole and then I followed.

Days later, I watched as Ho-oh used his Sacred Fire attack on Mewthree. Her telepathic scream was cut short as she died in mere seconds. I kept my promise to Umbreon and Azura and refused to bring Mewthree back to life. I hope life for Umbreon and Azura is much better now that I’ve returned Grovyle, Rapidash and Ninetales to them.

--- The End ---

The morale of this story is: Don’t trust anyone you don’t truly know. Otherwise, they’ll betray you... hence the story’s title.

O_O Okay. I read the other one. The one with all the clones? I don't believe I've posted there yet. So I'll review this.

The thing is, too much saving things and other things. And stuff. It's not constant. Plus you brought out the death of Mewthree with Ho-oh's Sacred Fire or something and I though Mew was the ultimate ruler. Mewthree had quadruple amount of power than Mewtwo and he is supposed to be stronger than Mew. So there I'm confused.

Otherwise it's pretty okay. Not a lot of things but the repetivity bores me. Plus Celebi talks way to different and it's weird and things. I'll let you figure that out for yourself.

This has a pretty good basic storyline. Although the repetitiveness was kind of ruining it. Like litestars said, the whole thing has too many of the same things. And you mentioned that the Grovyle was a Grass/Steel type? How did that happen? Was it part of the cloning that did it to Grovyle? Other than the story itself, there was the whole thing about the need of making the dialouge seperate paragraphs. The moral is great, though. It shows a lot of meaning through experience.

Too many things left unsaid. For the sheer number of perspectives you explore in this piece, it is much too short. For instance, how does Mewthree kill and then go back to being fine and dandy and then kill again and then go back to being fine and dandy? Explain how he's teetering on the edge of insanity. And why do the other pokémon not make a concerted effort to run the [heck] away before he kills again? Baseline: I don't get it. I just don't get it. If you expand this, it'll be a great story, but at the moment, it's illogical and does not portray it's intended meaning.

And I say this in the kindest possible way. I'd like to see you make this story great - the high quality of writing deserves a higher quality of plot. n_n
