It sounds like an interesting feature, but there might not be enough memory to do it.
There's more than enough....
I don't think this is true though.
And that Jagged-Ear-Pichu is unique and won't even be able to evolve or some crap.
i dont think that would ever happen. pokemon sprites already take up most of the memory in pokemon games. if this were to happen, there would be no room for the rest of the game besides sprites because of the huge amount of memory needed. there is not enough room on a game card for all those sprites.
lets do the math.
there are 493 pokemon.
each pokemon has a shiny variation
91 pokemon have gender differences
overall there are 1077 pokemon sprites in the game
so trading the mutant breeds to Platinum will set them back to normal sprites?
The notched-ear Pichu probably just fit into the story. Remember that Richie had a different looking Pikachu as early as the Orange Islands(?) story arc, and since sprites don't take up that much space, it's likely that if they were gonna do varying sprites they would have done it last gen at least
It would take up to much space, why are we still discussing this?
this would be cool, but really as everyone has said it would take up A LOT of spece, and the more space the take up for pointless aesthetics, the lass likely Kanto will be in...
tons of Pokemon with tons of combination's with tons of animated sprites
this is not true.
I'm sorry, but I think the notch-eared pichu is an exception, all the evidence points towards it, it even has it's own sprite.
lets do the math.
there are 493 pokemon.
each pokemon has a shiny variation
91 pokemon have gender differences
overall there are 1077 pokemon sprites in the game
They have clearly added the overworld sprites for all of the pokemon, so it seems perfectly reasonable for this to occur.
No it doesn't, it just means more memory wasted on a useless feature.
Which only a few of us would actually use.
