Both are fighting moves
the first one does 75 damages plus removing protective barriers like reflect
while the second one does 100 damages ultimately with no other effect

i have realized most of the move guide for physical sweeper/fighting pokemon use brick break usually, and i seldom see seismic toss on the list. while seismic toss has a greater base power, brick break is usually chosen ahead

what is the reason? is it really because of the benefit of removing barriers? is there really a lot of foe out there that would use reflect in battle?

what would you choose then when you are buildling a physical sweeper? Brick Break or Seismic Toss?

Thanks for replying

i would choose brick break because if your opponet was to use reflect/lightscreen ect..... it will not be weakened and it will break the barrier.

Seismic Toss can't be weakened either. It does a fixed amount of damage. With STAB anf weaknesses, Brick Break's power increases, while SEismic Toss doesn't. A fighting Pokémon really does 112.5 base power with Brick Break.

Decide by your pokemon's attack. Seismic Toss doesn't care 'bout Reflect and always does tha same damage. ST is suited on something with very bad attack status, like Chansey. Another thing is that, having fixed damage, it doesn't care about resistances, tch, tha downside is that it cares not of weakness either.

Unless yar fighting something resistant to fighting or unless your pkmn has a bad attack, ST's the way to go. Anything else == Brick Break.

oh? i thought the base power of seismic toss was based on the level of the pokemon so it becomes 100 when the pokemon reaches its highest level

so, it will always do 100 damage no matter what? yes? no?

Yes. ST does not have a base power. ST does amount of damage equal to the level of the user. So if you are level 34, the attack does 34 damage no matter how many times the opponent has raised its defanse or lowered your attack. If you are level 96, the attack does 96 damage no matter how many times the opponent has raised its defanse or lowered your attack. if you are level 100, the attack does 100 damage no matter how many times the opponent has raised its defanse or lowered your attack. Brick Break is just like a normal attack, with a fixed base power. I stock up BB TMs, because a lot of pokemon that I train can effectively use it in-game as a fighting move (such as Golem, Kabutops, Armaldo; all physical sweepers). I only have ST on my Chansey.

I would use Brick Break on stuff like Machamp/Breloom/Heracross, Seismic Toss is good on stuff like Blissey who can stall, I think all Fighters will be better with Brick Break since most of them have high Attack.

I should choose Seismic Toss, because Seismic Toss has got a higher base power.

hooray, it's Jetx!
Seismic toss is okay, but only if you have bad attack. And seismic toss doesn't have a base power by the way.

If I have high attack, I'd use brick break.

Brick Break on everything except Blissey/Chansey or a pokemon with terrible attack. Brick Break is good since it has 100% accuracy and is a powerfull fighting move. Seismic Toss is just for pokemon with no attack. For me Brick Break is the way to go.

I prefer Brick Break. I remember I gave it to my Mixed Sweeper Poliwrath during Leaf Green. I'm a STAB lover you see.

I like both moves, just teach Brickbreak to one of your pokemon and have another with Seismic Toss. I think both are useful if you use them right.

I would use Sesmic Toss on Blissey, everything else, Brick Break.
