i was thinking a breeding competion like a dog show or something
i think he got vulpix in an episode where they there was a breeding competion or something but then agian the dog show thing would be like a pokemon contest

And why should he steal Hikari's role away from her?

If Brock is in every Contest, Hikari won't be able to get her 5 ribbons in time. Hikari already stole Contests away from May, but Hikari doesn't need them stolen away from her too.

To me breeding =/= contests.

Contests are about performance, coordination, and stage-presence whereas breeding is akin to IV breeding in the games. Not necessarily getting a perfect 31 in each stat, but working with each individual pokemon's strengths and weaknesses and making them shine.
And in that line, I wish Brock would get a shiny pokemon. Shinies are a type of rare genetic mutation which I see would be perfect for a breeder.
But alas, Brock's probably only going to get about one more new pokemon.

I wish all the characters could be active in trying to reach their goals. However, the writers seem to disagree. Brock is just a pasted-on character and will probably always remain that way.
