okay I'm sure someone will laugh at me for this but what does the buddy and ignor lists do and why do they have limited space?

Read the part at the bottom.

And you can add as many poeple as you want to those lists, it isn't limited.
There is only just a limit on how many you can add at once.

 

[Prelude]

The space is always 2 more than you have.

If you have 0 buddies, then you have 2 spaces. If you have 1000 buddies, then you have 1002 spaces, and so on.

Buddy List - adds a + to the user's name on the Who's Online thing so you can see if your buddies are online

Ignore List - Makes it so that you can't see any posts from that person, and you won't see any PMs he/she sends you.

I'm not sure about the limited space but Buddy and Ignore lists are lists that you can put people on. Buddy lists just put a + sign beside the screen name you added and Ignore lists just hide the users posts when added. Hope that helped you. >_>
