• Hi all. We have had reports of member's signatures being edited to include malicious content. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and we can find no indication that the forums themselves have been compromised.

However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar logins on multiple sites, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

We always recommend using unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication if possible. Make sure you are secure.

Building website for beginners

Neocities is good for hosting, if you don't mind plain HTML: https://neocities.org/

Here's an ez HTML guide: http://www.lissaexplains.com/ It's a bit dated, but it still works well enough. I say if it still works, use it. You're just pushing everything towards a cliff named obseletion if you keep everything new. Word or warning, ignore the META KEYWORDS tag; it was just for search engines, & no legitimate search engine uses it anymore. META DESCRIPTION is still useful tho. Here's a direct link to their info on HTML: http://www.lissaexplains.com/html.shtml

Just start off learning & experimenting, & build what you can from there. I'd suggest creating a main menu & an update page first, then developing new pages from there. There is a way to add a menu top the top of your pages with jscript, but I'd have to do some figuring to remember how.

If you want to go old school, & you don't mind ads, there's AngelFire & Tripod, tho I get the feeling they may shut down soon. :(

You can make use of open source Content Management Systems available on the market. There are many CMS you can use to build your website. Some costs will apply at some level of the development for hosting the website, purchasing additional theme etc but compared to hiring professional help for creating a website it is considerably low.
