What benefits does each one have? Also, how do you determine the "personality value"? I assume this is based on their personality (rash, hasty, lax, etc.) but can't find a place that states which ones correspond to what value (or if this is somehow happiness related?). Help?

Personality value is random, to my knowledge you can't figure it out.... until it evolves at level 7

I personally think Beautifly is better, but the movepool is limited. And neither of them are very good...
I took a beautifly to the E4 from the beginning of the game... knocked out against the 1st E4 member, but managed to Silver Wind a few dark types lol

Well what do you mean by benefits?
I can tell you that they both have the same base HP and speed. Dustox's defensive stats are the same as Beautifly's attacking stats.
For example; Beautifly's Sp. Att = Dustox's Sp. Def
In my opinion though, both are pretty boring pokemon and they are nothing more than the mandatory bug pokemon evolution that we get in every version. If you have to pick one, Beautifly has the more attacking stats so capture something that adds to its Sp. Attack, as for Dustox go for Sp. Defence raising natures.
Personally I'd prefer a Dustox, they learn psychic attacks and also learns toxic by level up. Both learn Silver Wind which is meh, 5PP isn't anything much and after that you have Mega Drain which is also pretty boring in my eyes. 10PP for a 40 Base Power? You could always teach it Giga Drain I suppose, but even then thats only 5PP.
If you must get one, try for Dustox, but I can't say about personalty values because all the ones I've captured have been Beautifly and that's before I discovered EV's and IV's etc.

I prefer beautifly. Its better looking. Lol. Plus, I prefer ofense over defense. The best defence is a good offence! ^^
I would pick Dustox cause of its defensive attacks such as toxic and such and i would preffer him also cause he's not part flying(meh, beautifly couldnt use Fly anyways). You could always get in trouble during Glacia. But if you want a Beautifly theres also a good side on that, You could wipe out some of Sidney's dual grass-dark types with Silver Wind.

Personally, I think Beautifly is better. Not like Beautifly/Dustox are good to start with anyway. Well anywho, Beautifly is prettier than the repulsive looking Dustox, and it has great sp. attack too. Dustox does have better defense and can stay alive longer than Fly, but it can't dish out any sort of damage...
I've used both Dustox and Beautifly, and I've gotta say that Beautifly did a better job on my team than Dustox did. Beautifly could actually kill things and usually survived if it got hit by a weak move, save all rock attacks. Dustox, I found, had major difficulties killing things before it got beaten itself, despite it being the one with the higher defenses.

~Bug/Poison, so it doesn't have a 4x weakness to rock like its counterpart does!
~Uh... it's a poison type so its immune to toxic! hehehe...
~I have a shiny one on Ruby!

~Flying type makes it immune to earthquake
~It's prettier than Dustox.
~It's better than Dustox.

Dustox sucks. The end. Anything faster than him can kill him before he has time to do anything.

Well my Faverite has to be beautifly.
in my rom of emerald my beautifly was the first pokemon i caught and now it is stronger then my blazican.
It is true that it faints quikly but it still puts out a preety good fight.
