I think she will be a recurring character/recurring rival. I doubt she will travel with the group, in they finally updated the eye catch in-between episodes in episode 7, because Iris and Dento finally joined Ash. It would be nice if she was a main character but the writers wouldn't give that to us.

Well, we don't know if Bel becomes Ash's Rival or not. It would be nice if she dd though, so ash could have two rivals early on.

Maybe Bel will just be a friend of Ash & Co. but will only become a rival in the League where she'll surprize everyone by being very tough or maybe even winning the League^^

Woot, Belle already 8) I am foreseeing confidence issues already, but hopefully she'll turn out to be a good rival.

Dawn wasn't Ash's rivals. Technically, one could count Nando as a rival for Ash and he appeared early on, but he hardly appeared in DP honestly. I'd just count Paul & Barry for Ash and it was just Paul that appeared early on and it was mainly just Paul for Ash until DP101.

Hopefully Bel appearing here is the sight of things to come. (Cheren)

Well, in Sinnoh we knew that Dawn was going to be May2.0, but since we have Iris to fill that slot nowadays, the chances of Belle having a different role then Dawn are immediatly tons higher, although they have a simlar role in their respective games:

Lucas = Black/White
Dawn = Belle
Barry = Cheren

Perhaps not, since all three in DP had a role, while in BW the trio depends on who you pick as your character and the other character is not used, too my understanding that is..

No. Was Barry Dawn's rival? So what makes you think Bel will be Iris's rival? Besides Kibago is no where battle ready and Doryuzu isn't gonna obey Iris for a while, and no ones gonna become anyones rival without battling them first.

I thought her dream was to evolve Kibago to Ononokusu. Well, that's the trial that was given to her anyway, so I figured that was it.

I was just thinking Bel and her could inspire each other to get their Pokemon stronger or bond over their love of cute Pokemon. Look, I'm not saying it would definitely happen, I was just thinking of it as a possibility.

Why did you do that?! You had my hopes up and everything... oh well. Proves how good that image is at least.

I saw someone say she could be like Whitney, but I see Belle as more of a comedic sort of character and not someone who is necessarily strong in battle.

She could, but doesn't have to be 100%. She could be of similar persona, with some comedic flair thrown in. I don't she'll be strong, but she may attempt to use some strategies. Hypothetical thinking of course.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully we see her more often. She has quite a few appearances in the game, so I expect her appearances in the show to be just as high.

I meant Dawn's rivals as well.

Dawn's rivals were not Ash's rivals, for crying out loud. Zoey was never Ash's rival. Kenny and Ash battled once but they were never rivals, not that Kenny showed up much anyway. How could a Coordinator be a rival with a Trainer anyway? The only one that could have qualified as a rival for Ash was Nando since he was doing both, but even he never really acted like a rival for Ash even though they battled at the League. Basically they'd interact with Dawn as they needed to and then they'd be like "Oh, hey Ash, see ya," and that would be it.
