calling all mono trainers from around the globe

after completing red and blue (yes both) and with a release date for silver just being released i thought that i might just focus in on one type of pokemon. i read around looking at what other people were doing, until i came up with the idea to do what no-one else is doing.
i thought about it long and hard, well not really, but anyway i thought it would be nice fot me to focus in on just fighting pokemon. i know back then there wasnt much choice, but with newly added hitmontop and heracross (my favourite pokemon ever, who has been in every squad i have ever had where i can possibly get him. in lv50 squads and on colosseum) there was enough pokemon to make a team. my first team of figting pokemon Consisted of hitmonlee, hitmontop, poliwrath, machamp, heracross and areodactyl, because i didnt like pimape or hitmonchan (too low attack figures etc) at all and i needed something with fly.
after this sometimes unforgiving choice of getting wasted by all flying pokemon and most psychic types, i have kept true to my word and stuck with it and recently in ruby and sapphire my prayers were answered because i was given a fighting starter and a psychic fighting combo.
and now with the release of the new pokemon rukario, there is now a legendary fighting type!!
then it is obvious that my promise has been worth it. first being blessed with heracross then having enough pokemon for a more all rounged squad than some normal trainers have!!

now you have heard my story i want to hear all of you other mono trainers stories including what you specialise in, how, why, when and what your favourite pokemon is.

Strangely enough i share your hatred of flying trainers, as well you know. Mono grass is difficult sometimes.

I've done all monotype teams in Red bar Ghost and Dragon, since having one pokemon doesn't count as a team IMO. I've done Poison in Silver, and I've done Ground in Sapphire. I also helped write the RBY Monotype 101 reports on The Pokemasters when the website was at it's peak.

Me and my friend are about to do all types in Emerald., Not only are we planning to complete the game, but get the Silver Badges of the Battle Frontier as well. Though we do trade some Pokémon. (Like, with water type, we can´t find, say, Poliwag, so we trade it from other games) We don´t care about the EVs, IVs natures or any of it. And we will have some unevolved Pokémon as well, because they are solely based on our favorites. And we aren´t allowed to have legendaries. Heh, you should see my Dark Team XD We still haven´t started though. We need to finish the previous file first. And every time I and my friend meet, we make sure we are in the same place in the game and have a battle.

I once did that with water Pokémon, but stopped as I wanted to restart in Sapphire. And I also wanted to do that with fire types in Crystal once. The thing is, I haven´t done it yet, but I´m about to.

I pretty much have a certain style of team I choose. It consists of an Electric, Fire, Water, Grass, Flying, and Psychic type. It's pretty well rounded, and it's not hard to find good Pokemon of those types. Oh yeah, I always use a Light Ball Pikachu in all my teams except at serious tournament.

Hmmm... Well, I experimented with a mono-Water type team on my Sapphire (before I was any good at all >_>), and I wound up raising six Poison types on my Leaf Green. I might try for a mono-type team in the near future now that I actually know about good Pokemon movesets, if I ever get around to raising s'more for the Battle Fronteir.

These are the games I am doing mono on, not the only ones I have. And what's in italics is what I'm doing.

Red;
Ground
Poison
Fire
Flying
Normal
Dragon <- dragon like types *flees from Dan*

Yellow;
Flying
Ground

Gold;
Water
Fire
Grass
Flying

Sapphire;
Flying
Bug
Water

Colosseum;
Dark

I find training up one type of pokemon, outside of flying as it has every god damn type possible oo;, a challenge. Especially poison if you're about to fight Sabrina, and etc.

well my mono squad consists of,
Medicham, or Charem
Heracross, or Megacross
Breloom, or Broomish
Blaziken, or Kiochi
Machamp, or Sir Buuf
and Poliwrath or Aquawrath

anywho i am still waiting to hear peoples stories on mono-training and what everyones fav pokemon is

ill give you a clue what mine is
;214;

i agree renegade but after reading my first post surely that inspired you?

and anyway i was thinking about making a club for mono trainers!!

Um, inspired me to what? Dislike flying types? You must have misread, I find training mono flying teams no challenge... unless it's the one time in sapphire where I barely beat Wattson. Outside of that there's almost all typesxFlying, making it a pretty cheap thing to boast about. But a good way for people to jump into the challenge of the Mono Team training. But I don't dislike flying types.

There are the teams I had written down from long ago.

Red

Cymraeg Ddyfroedd
Starmie (Seren) / Vaporeon (Mùr-forwyn) / Cloyster (Chraff) / Slowbro (Feudwy) / Lapras (Cerdd) Omastar (Blisgo)

Yr Heidiwch
Venomoth (Gwyfyn) / Butterfree (Bili-pala) / Pinsir (Chwill) / Scyther (Adenedd) / Parasect (Bolerwr) / Beedrill (Gwenynen)

Ocean's Revenge
Seaking (Tides) / Dragonite (Puff) / Golduck (Kappa) / Starmie (Bermuda) / Dewgong (Walruss) / Seadra (Seagee)
Dragonite was a pseudo water type to make up for the fact that Seadra and Seaking sucked

Horror Scope
Kadabra (Tarot) / Slowbro (Toby) / Hypno (Snoozer) / Exeggutor (Sunesidup) / Mr Mime (Marcel) / Jynx (Lola)

Fright Flight
Charizard (Tornado) / Dragonite (Twister) / Gyarados (Hurricane) / Dodrio (Zephyr) / Golbat (Whirlwind) / Butterfree (Gust)

Deep Sea Destroyers
Kingler (Crbastix) / Poliwrath (Navyseal) / Blastoise (Firehose) / Gyarados (Snake Eyes) / Tentacruel (Man-O-War) / Vaporeon (Mermaid)

All Work and No Play
Persian (Prelude) / Clefable (Orbit) / Porygon (Blade) / Kangaskhan (Mortar) / Fearow (Trefoil) / Pidgeot (Valet)

Silver

Yr Annianna Heidiwch[/b]
Venomoth / Shuckle / Heracross / Butterfree / Pinsir / Ariados
This team was planned but never completed due to the fact that I had no one to trade for the key member, ie a Baton Passing Ariados

The rules I follow for Monotype teams are all listed in the RBY Monotype challenge topic I linked to above. No outside influence, back trades, metallic moves. Anything traded with it's opposite game is done at the point at which said pokemon would be caught (Pinsir / Scyther when Safari Zone is reached). No duplicate pokemon and no using Missingno to duplicate TM's.

I done a grass type mono team in Sapphire, not that hard.

In most pokemon games I used a team of: Grass, fire, water, flying and two other types.

sorry renegade i did misread what you said and appologise.
though i do dislike coming against flying types with my fighting squad but otherwise they are one of my favourite types. this is because they have combos in most of the good types (eg charizard, dragonite, mukrow, etc)
but i must admit my favourite pokemon, that isnt a fighting type, is golbat!!
i dont know why but i have always loved it! i had one on red on the GB orig that was level 100. it wasnt particually strong and it couldnt even learn fly but they just look really cool.

Don't double post, and wtf is with going off topic in your own topic? If your not talking about monoteams, go find somewhere else to post. Really, a bit of common sense please? I know it's hard, but there are some people who would like to see it being used.
