Pikachu pretty much owned Samurott, you should have use dthat against Pignite and Ferrorthorn vs Pikachu Kotetsu.

Leave it to Pikachu, though surprisingly Steal Tail was more useful. Neither of these two have any concept of proper type match-ups.
Sending a Grass/Steel-type against a Fire/Fighting-type
Sending a Water/Flying-type against an Electric-type.
Not having a full team for a full battle.
