This is a thread I decided to make because whenever there is a thread asking about which Pokemon is Ash's strongest, Charizard always seems to gain a huge lead in the votes. While I don't necessarily disagree with this and in fact, it would be hard to come up with a reason why Charizard isn't the strongest, I do feel there have been other Pokemon in Ash's team that have proved themselves over the years and have maybe been overshadowed by Charizard's great accomplishments.

So my question to you all is can anyone in Ash's team beat Charizard? I don't want to hear the answer, "well anyone of Ash's Pokemon can beat Charizard if the writers wanted." That is a very true statement but I want you to base it on the Pokemon's performances in the anime thus far. Obviously some of Ash's Pokemon had impressive showing over the years and some maybe didn't have as impressive showings as others. So what do you all think?

honestly, of all the pokemon in all gens, I voted for Pikachu on this one, electro ball and thunderbolt may do charizard in as well as static, though oshawott may weaken but not beat him and other then pika, I think squatial has a high chance as well

I voted Pikachu because if he could get onto Charizard's back like with Latios, there's no way Charizard could stand up to repeated Thunderbolts.

Snorlax has a big chance too, but it all depends on Charizard's current moveset. It's been so long since Charizard has battled and he hasn't had a chance to get any of the many new moves of Gen IV let alone V. And also Charizard couldn't Seismic Toss Snorlax since it couldn't do it with Golem, so there's another advantage.

Swellow would outspeed Charizard, but it couldn't take barrages of Flamethrowers and defintely not Seismic Toss. Infernape could do well against Charizard, but Mach Punches and Flare Blitz's won't be enough. Sceptile has too much of a disadvantage but would do okay. Bulbasaur could do some combos with Leech Seed and try to mess up Charizard's attacks with Vine Whip, but it wouldn't be enough.

I'd say Pignite and Krookodile are too underdeveloped to give a good prediction(compared to Ash's older Pokemon), but Krookodile has a great chance with Stone Edge. Crunch and Dragon Claw would be tough to deal with too

In conclusion, Pikachu and Snorlax stand a chance, but it's anyone's battle.

Let's go to the beach, each.
Pikachu/Sceptile/Infernape/Oshawott. I'm sure there are others, although I doubt any of them will actually battle Charizard.

Since pikachu lose to the first gym's water type pokemon. i vote no for pikachu and no for snorlax since snorlax only move that can hit a flying charizard is hyper beam which require good aiming and it has to recharge which gives charizard opportunity to use seismic toss while snorlax is recharging , IMO the strongest pokemon ash currently have is Sceptile. If sceptile can't beat charizard so are other ash's pokemon.

If krookodile's stone edge can fall something as mighty as dragonite, it can take down charizard.

And aww crap misclicked.

Pikachu is one of Ash's strongest Pokemon and he has type advantage.
Snorlax is too heavy for Charizard to use Seismic Toss.
Infernape can only beat Charizard if Blaze is activated.
Sceptile will cause Charizard to struggle but Sceptile will eventually lose.
It would be extremely difficult for Bulbasaur to win even if it uses Leech Seed.
Pignite and Swellow will definitely lose.
Krookodile might have a chance to win with Stone Edge.

I chose, "Pikachu could" because he's Ash's #1 pokemon and he can count on him not matter what, besides Charizard finishing off the battles, Pikachu is now too so he kind of replaced Charizard I guess. Only way to decide would be with a battle though which is very unlikely.

The ones who have a shot are his other strongest Pokemon, namely Pikachu, Infernape, Snorlax, Sceptile, and Glalie. That being said, in a set of 10 fights, I'd place my bet on Charizard against any of these guys.

Infernape with Blaze vs. Charizard would be a sight to see though!

Of course, I don't think Charizard is invincible. But, I think all the choices could stand a chance. I don't know about Bulbasaur. And Pignite, isn't that strong yet, later on, maybe.

Charizard is way too strong for those losers, the only one who can beat Charizard is Charizard himself.

Sarcasm aside, Pikachu. He has the advantage and is better than the big lizard.

I can only think of Pikachu beating Charizard, no other.

Krookodile, pikachu, snorlax and infernape may be able to.
Ofc we don't know how powerfull charizard has become by now.
Sceptile is just too much at a disadvantage.
