If I get mario kart DS I will probably want to buy a router with it, can anyone reccomend me a good compatible router in the $30-$40 price range. I'm not going to a fast food restaurant to play online, 1. fast food is bad on the abs
2. I'm not traveling 20 miles on foot (my mom will only drive me to school, she goes to so many events in the evening, good thing a gamestop is close by) to play at a wayport mcdonalds so I need a router for online

There's a usb port in the DS ? Anyway how much does it cost ( I use DSL if it matters) and how do you access online.

I bought the Nintendo USB connector last night. I heard it's RIDICULOUSLY easy to set up and use.

Well the Nintendo USB has upsides an downside. Upside: Cheap (yes that price IS cheap), and I going to Jynxo's word and say it is easy to set up. Downside: Works for DS only. Mayby future NINTENDO consoles, but you get the point.

Yes - but you have to actually be near the damn thing for it to work - according to IGN. That's why I would just prefer using the Wireless Internet - then I can just be anywhere in the house and use it.

Not quite. Mine can just cut off in an instant. I moved back one inch I nearly lost connection. Managed to get my character and car in 10 seconds. My point being is that you still have to be close to the darn connecter. Most likely on the DS side and not the USB side.

So? Is it THAT big of a deal to just be at your computer when you're playing an ONLINE game? :/

Hmm - Perhaps instead of sitting at the computer (really uncomfortable) I would rather sit on my bed or the comfortable couch and play the DS instead of at the computer. [/idea]

DS's work with eachother well from long distances. (I know cuzz I did a test with my friend) It's the USB adapter that you have to be close to - it doesn't send out a far enough signal in the first place...

D-link is not very good from my experience. I tried a D-link wireless card on my PC and believe me, it's very bad...

Use Linksys instead...
I also heard Linksys was the best. Seems to be the better one out there.

I used to have linksys and it overheated (had a cheap one though), and yes my computer does have a usb port (6) don't all computers have at least one? If it matters I have windows xp media center,BTW the USB thing works with all xp computers right not just home or proffesional. Do you think we will ever have portable online for the DS in the near future, like intel centrino on labtops because playing online at home on a portable system doesn't seem right, but I will do it for now, but when diamond and pearl comes along I hope we can have some sort of unbounded service available. An xbox live type service would be cool as well, playing online games would be free, communicating online, chatting through the mic during online play along with marketplaces and game sharring would be $20.00 a year.

Shiny Charizard, I recommend either going to a BestBuy, or Office Depot(not really) and ask one of their people that work in Networking. I myself use it on a D-Link(@ Home) and a Linksys(@ Work). They are both equal, both have excellent quality.

*Note: Don't tell my boss I play games at work XD*

I think you can only get the usb dongle off nintendo's official website till spring 06. I'll probably get a higher quality router than I did the last time, I'll spend up to 50 dollars or ask for one for Christmas with my Animal Crossing.
