can anyone say how focus bond works???

it says that it will leave a pokemon with 1 hp 1 time, but my starmie has only got the effect of it in 5 battles out of like 200... how can that be? and sometime i see enemys with it who get the effect 3 times in a row ON THE SAME POKEMON! how can it be !?! please help

It's random if it takes effect or not. They're just lucky, or it may be as many people say that it's rigged. I don't know the exact percentage though.

My guess is that it's probably rigged when a trainer uses it as I once had my streak in the battle tower broken at 66 when a shiftry used it twice and took out 2 of my pokemon in that succession.

Ive had an awful lot of luck with the focus band in XD. I think ive managed to survive 7 battles with it on my Flareon. I dont use it as much in my other versions as i dont really consider it to be useful, but it really depends on which guy you use it on. Always has worked in my Gold/Crystal version though.
