Can someone please help me pick a team to defeat Johto's Clair?

Hi, well I just started to think about playing Pokemon Stadium 2, and defeating Clair and the others above her once and for all.
But I need a team who can defeat her, I have come against her in so many ways that it's not even funny now everytime I get beaten.
I think I even used ice/electric/rock/ground Pokemon against her.

So can anyone help me and choose a team that will defeat Claire and the ones above her once and for all? (I know I can, I got two pokecups in one of the tournarments, can't remeber which thought)...

And sorry if it in the wrong place, if so can you please move it?

Well, I can tell you what Pokémon she and her Junior Trainers have, and their main weaknesses. *gets ready for a LOT of typing*

First Battle (Cooltrainer Gloria)
Pokémon: Jigglypuff, Vennonat, Skimploom, Clefairy, Exeggcute, Oddish
Weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Flying, Fighting

Second Battle (Cool Trainer Vince)
Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil
Weaknesses: Fire, Water, Grass

Gym Leader: Clair
Pokémon: Kingdra, Ampharos, Dragonair, Rhydon, Arcanine, Lapras
Weaknesses: Ground, Dragon, Fighting

(Okay, not that much typing) So...mix and match with the attacks, try to bring Pokémon from your games instead of using Rentals (unless you can find ones with good attacks). The guide suggests Machamp, Houndour, Dewgong, Zapdos, Kadabra and Onix, but you might be better off without Onix and Kadabra, or even without any of them. XP

Good luck, hope I helped!

You might, we have to wait and see, I don't know which Pokemon I have with good moves in my game since I haven't played in a while, but they are mostly likely to be in Silver.

stizi, you don't need 00bers to beat Clair.

Heck, it's easy to just use Rentals. Machamp, Houndour, Dewgong, Zapdos, Kadabra and Onix are suggested by the Guide, but Zapdos is usless because it's only good moves, Thunder and Detect, are useless against Clair. Even though Kadabra has great stats, its Psychic and Thunderpunch aren't needed. You can easily drop these two for something else.

Machamp should still be useful because it has Submission (great for thre first round) and Thunder/Fire Punch, the fire variation being strong against four of his Pokémon. Onix has Ground and Rock attacks, so it is Ampharos' only weakness, though the rental Golem, Sandslash and Piloswine also has fine attacks and mostly better stats. The only move you need from Houndour is Flamethrower, but there are other Fire-type Rentals who are stronger or have better Fire attacks, like Flareon, Entei, Macargo, Moltres, Ninetales and even Dragonair. Dewgong's Waterfall and Araura Beam are good for all three battles, and it has pretty good stats, but it would be a much better choice for you to raise a Lapras- it can learn Ice Beam naturally, it would be better off with Surf than Dewgong with Waterfall (and I believe if you trade it to one of the older games you can teach it Solarbeam, which would come in handy during the second Trainer battle) combined with an attack like Sing or Body Slam, it would be a very strong Pokémon on your team and it would be able to face all kinds of different opponents in the future.

That was just to show that you have all kinds of options, and there are some pretty decent Rental Pokémon you can check out: you can easily win without 00bers- heck, you can beat the entire Gym Leader Castle without them. Again, ones you bring from the games will always have higher stats, and you can decide what attacks to teach them, so it's always better to raise your own. But if it's a bother, you don't even need them!
*credit to the 'Pokémon Stadium 2 Perfect Guide' for providing stats and moves for Rental Pokémon- <3 Guides*

Again, good luck...

Well, you're welcome for helping and taking the time to type up the trainers, their Pokémon and weaknesses. >>

To defeat the Elite Four go back and see the team of six the Guide recommended earlier. The team works, but again, I pointed out some better Pokémon you could use. (Who did you beat Clair with, btw?)

Elite Four Members:
Battle One: Will
Pokémon: Xatu, Kadabra, Girafarig, Clefable, Exeggutor, Jynx
Weaknesses: Dark, Ghost, Bug

Battle Two: Koga
Pokémon: Venemoth, Ariados, Golbat, Gligar, Electrode, Muk
Weaknesses: Psychic, Fire, Ice, Rock

Battle Three: Bruno
Pokémon: Machamp, Golem, Kangaskhan, Blastoise, Heracross, Onix
Weaknesses: Fighting, Grass, Psychic

Battle Four: Karen
Pokémon: Umbreon, Victreebel, Murkrow, Magmar, Gengar, Vileplume
Weaknesses: Psychic, Ice, Ground, Rock

Battle Five: Champion Lance
Pokémon: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Charizard, Aerodactyl, Steelix, Gyrados
Weaknesses: Water, Rock, Electric, Ice

Not the easiest trainers to beat, but if you just bring in some home-trained Pokémon from your Silver version you should fair quite well, just make sure they’re the right types with the proper attacks. If you’ve trained them from a low level their stats will be much stronger, so they’ll fare much better than any Rental.

Good luck,

I thought I said thank you *Looks through* I could have sworn it, wait, actually I think I mentioned you in another thread in this forum about how you helped me.

Anyway, A very, very, very, very, very, very, very VERY, VERY BIG thanks to you, you helped me alot, hopefully I can beat the pants of the E4,

Um BTW, my silver verison is no longer working, that's why I couldn't use any of my mine in the E4 (I used Blue's Lapras)

Edit: also just so you know, I used these Pokemon: Lapras (From Blue), Machamp (Not sure where), well actually I followed your other guides and suggestions and used them, can't remeber them all, but it was defiently Lapras who helped me out, I used rare candies to et her from level 15 to level 50...
