Can someone tell me how to start a fic?

This may sound stupid but can someone tell me how to start writing? As in starting off with a prolouge in the "Post New Thread" window or type it into Microsoft Word, and then somehow copy and paste all that into the "Post New Thread"? Because I'm sorta new here and I just learnt how to start a new thread.

Also about continuing the fanfic, do you reply to the thread or do you type it all into Word and then somehow transporting it into the "Reply to Thread"?

Please, no stupid answers like,"DO IT ON YER OWN!"

Help appreciated. Thanks.

I suggest you go read the rules and advice first, if you blatantly talk about writing something ficwise in the reply box, when it is against the rules. You are supposed to write it out on a writing program, and copy/paste into the reply window. You do this by highlighting the text, right clicking and chosing copy/cut then right click into the window and choose the paste option.

...

For updating with chapters you do the same damn thing.

As the others said, type it up in Word or a similar program because of the spellchecker. Paste it into the new thread box and keep in mind that all of your italics and boldings and underlings (if any) will have been erased and will need to be put in by either highlight the relevant bit and clicking on the B, I and U as required or putting in the HTML script manually. >< It's a pain, it is, but the results are worth it.

And yes, post new chapters by replying to the thread. Copy and paste your story from Word or whatever you use into the reply box.

That's it, I think. but if people get upset at you starting a thread like this, just PM me and I'll answer as best I can. Good luck!

Piney.

If you had read the replies, you'd know it wasn't forums you needed to see, but STICKIES.

http://forums.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=96993 Rules. Read them. They help.

http://forums.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=19 Advice. Read it. It helps.

And there is no forum to help you, write a fic, if you don't have the gist of a plot or idea to start writing. If you're just going to have some trainer start out on a quest to become a pokemon master, and nothing to make it original or what not, don't even attempt to write it.

A piece of writing work takes time, effort, sweat and blood- well not really sweat and blood, but it is more rewarding to make it worth the time to post it, and gets more reviewers if it's actually tastefull and original.

Thanks a lot Renegade. Those sites really helped. And I promise it wo't be about a kid/a binch of kids on the journey to be Pokemon Masters of some sort. No. Getting too old that XD

I am planning to write a comedy, a version of Pokemon Twisted Tales. Changing the Episodes to Make Them Funny.Stay tuned! I will dedicate the first episode to the people who gave me the headstart of Serebii.net!!

Overall, thanks guys.
ps someone tell me how to close a thread

^^For that, PM a mod and provide them with the link to the topic you want closed.

Just tell them what you want closed and they'll do it for ya. No questions asked.
