• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

i remember in 1st gen there was the box trick that let you allpy EVs or w/e to pokemon at lv 100, i heard recently there was something like that in D/P but not Pt

for example, im getting Arceus (like about a million others) this sat, but its at lv 100. can EVs be applied to a pokemon such as this or is it just a trophy?

I'm not too sure but If you EV train it in let's say 252 Spd/ 252 Sp Atk/ 6 Spdef out of the box thenn when you place it in the box stats are recalculated.
Another example let's say you already have a venusaur at the box at lv 100 you trained it in atk now you want to train it in sp atk, you apply the stat reducing berries 10 of them then you train it in attack you won't see any change in it's stats but when you place it in your pc box you'll see the difference. To summarize stats are recalculated when you place it in the box. That way people managed to train lv 50 Zapdos for the VGC without levelin up. Box trick as simple as that.
I'm not too sure though I could be wrong.

No no no no. The Box Trick has not worked since gen 1/2. It does not work in D/P nor Pt.

This.

Did you use vitamins? Because EVs from vitamins are added right away, regardless of level, no need of leveling up. But only EVs from the vitamins.
Since vitamins only go up to 100 EVs, then that's not really full EV training.

Ummm... some people don't seem to know what they're talking about... 0_0

The box trick does work in DPPtHGSS. L100's just don't gain experience so it doesn't work on them. L99 and down it does work. And it's always been that way.

However, Arceus is L100 (>.<). So you can still apply 10 vitamins per any 5 stats and then 1 extra vitamin to the 6th stat. I would suggest putting 10 in everything except for SAtk or Atk, depending on which nature you get (+Atk or +SAtk) or how you plan on using it (physical or special).

Do you know what the Box Trick is? The Box Trick is a trick that lets Level 100 Pokémon add EVs. Of course it works on Pokemon that is under level 100. But it does not work on Pokemon that is level 100.

"Box trick" doesn't specify a certain level, and it may work on lv99 and under, but TC did specify a level 100 poke.

And I repeat. On a level 100, the only EVs it can get are the EVs from vitamins, nothing else.

Until the opposite is proven; the Box Trick does not work on a level 100 pokemon.

When did the box trick ever work on L100 pokemon? I don't recall it ever working on them.

I used it to EV train L50 pokes like Platinum's Heatran without leveling it up to 51 for the VGCs last year. That's why it's useful. Not for EVing L100s I've never heard of that before.

I didn't say that it works on a level 100 pokemon. I said that it does not work until the opposite is proven.

You're not making any sense. The box trick never has and never will work on L100s, and will never be proven otherwise. You can only use vitamins. End of story.

seriously weird... o_o

If a Pokemon was raised to lv 100 then it should have gotten its max amout of EV's....like 510 or something.

Yes it would but you cannot add evs to a level 100 pokemon with the exception of the druggies.

YoYie

I you bet
the whole thing with this arceus is that it's lvl 100, so no ev's.
they might release a weaker version later, just to keep you on the line.
