Can't get Horsea to save my life...

I've been everywhere. I mean everywhere. I checked the Pokedex and have had over 50 encounters (that's surfing and fishing [Super Rod] SEPERATELY, so more like 100 encounters) in each location in LG that Horsea is listed as occuring...and haven't run across a single one. I know that Horsea is an Uncommon, but come-on! I've been able to find the "Rares" like Tauros and Chansey in the Safari Zone and Magmar on Mt. Ember with relatively little effort, but haven't seen a SINGLE Horsea :(. Do I just have terrible luck, is there a tip somebody has (specific tile, or something), or do I just need to break down and trade for one from a friend?

Anyone else have a similar experience with a specific Pokemon (i.e.: should be catchable but you really can't find/get one)?

It's you luck. I barely see any, either. Check the Water Path, or whatever its called. I found a few there. Or...maybe those were just Seadras...well, try there. Also, this is stupid, but worth checking - do you have a repel on or the first poke in your party has Stench for an ability? Other than that, I can't say much more.

I have Fire Red, but that doesn't make any difference. I can't get rid of all the Horsea that keep attacking me, it's really annoying. Maybe you can try fishing in the sea, around Seafoam Islands or Cinnabar, because they are Sea pkmn .. Maybe that works, maybe it doesn't, it's just something that possibly could help.

Boy, its no luck at all, it all depends on which rod you are using. if youre using super rod then goodie for u but if ur using old rod then all you can get are feeble magikarps. Hope this works cause i have 5 kingdras in my fr and 2 in my lg

Between old en super rod there is another one, that works good I thought .. Good rod was it, or something like that.

No, I made sure to not have any kind of repel effect, Cleanse Tag, Stench, or whatever migh keep away wild pokemon of anykind. I'm considering using a Starmie for Illuminate to hopefully increase chances of running across them...

Well, Shadow, if you could find the name of whatever Route (the one between Fuscia and the Seafoam Islands?) you were on, that might help a bit...it's just that surfing I always get Tentacools (and the occasional fish, Slowpoke, and Gyrados) and fishing only seems to get me Slowpokes and Krabbies...(and Staryu and the odd Goldeen in applicable spots)

Yeah, you can catch it in LG. Just about as rare as a Nidoran M though. You can catch Horsea with the Good Rod almost anywhere. It seems to be most common in Vermillion City though from what I've seen, though I caught mine outside of Fuchia.

I had to go hunting for mine a while back so I could see about getting it to level 50 or so for Dragon Dance. I'm just gonna try a Dragon Dancing Lapras eventually, after I beat the Elite 4. Good luck finding your Horsea!

Alea iacta est.
The Water Path is in between Lavender and Fuschia. It's that little area right before Snorlax. Hope it helps. Good luck
