Carefree Worries - A Silent Hill/Pokemon RP [Sign-Ups] (R)

“In my restless dreams,
I see that town…”

It’s high summer – the peak of the tourist season – and Sinnoh is teeming with places for people to visit both old and new. For thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies there are the icy hills of Snowpoint that boast the best skiing resorts around. Gamblers and shopaholics flock to Veilstone for fun at the casino and the Veilstone Department Store, while those wanting a more coastal experience can go off to Sunyshore for sun, surf and sand

But if one was to travel to the east they’d stumble across a seemingly plain town just a stone’s throw away from the splendid city of Hearthome. This place is called Solaceon – “a town free of worry!” according to the signs welcoming tourists and travellers alike. Built around vast arable fields and ranches, Solaceon is a much sleepier place that most tourists tend to miss or disregard. It’s a hotspot for archaeologists and ruin maniacs, thanks to the ruins discovered to the east of town just over a hundred years ago, and it isn’t uncommon for people wearing hiking gear and digging implements to be seen on the streets. It might not be as glamorous as the cities or as eloquent as the lakes, but it is still a thriving location on its own merits.

And that’s where you come in. You don’t know what made you select Solaceon for your vacation this year, but as you checked out holiday brochures or browsed the web for good locations Solaceon just seemed to make sense. As if it was calling to you, somehow. With everything settled and your holiday booked, you’ve made the journey to the drowsy little town, hoping to get some rest, relaxation and enjoyment. Your first day was a nice one, having checked out some of the more historically important ranches and sampled some of the homely food available; you go to bed happy and content. You intend to check out the ruins tomorrow and you’re sure it will be just as enjoyable as today was.

But when you wake up you notice that something has changed. It isn’t all that noticeable at first, but as you come to your senses you realise that the town looks… different. Once a dusty, docile place with easy-going people and pokemon, the Solaceon you’ve woken up in is a mirror opposite. Cold, damp and silent, there isn’t a single person to be seen on the streets and a thick fog has rolled in, swallowing up most of the town in a silvery haze. It also appears to be snowing too, despite the fact that it’s the middle of summer, and overall the whole place feels forlorn and empty.

And when you focus for long enough, you swear you keep seeing odd-looking figures moving about in the fog.

The Campaign

Your task is quite simple – find a way to get out of Solaceon or die trying, as well as piece together what exactly caused this change to happen. You can work together or on your own, it does not matter how you choose to play your character.

But be aware that your time is limited. While the creatures lurking in the fog are troublesome they won’t be nearly as easy to deal with once the change into the Otherworld starts. Heralded with what could be described as a WWII air raid siren, everything will start to go dark and soon after that all hell will break loose… literally. You may find yourself in a position where you must defend yourself, but it is a much better idea to take cover somewhere until the Otherworld shifts back.

Good luck. You’re gonna need it, believe me.

History & Fears

Now here’s where things are going to get interesting.

Monsters in the Silent Hill franchise usually represent something that a victim has experienced or feared in their past and it is no different for this roleplay. I will be taking special note of the histories you create for your characters – rather than making monsters for the roleplay, I will be making monsters based around your characters. This is also where fears come in – a brief list will just give me some extra stuff to add if needs be.

The same can be said for when the Otherworld shifts into an even more hellish nightmare – it will grow and change according to your characters’ psyche, history and fears. There are countless possibilities of what this could do to the setting – we could end up in the rusted, bloody hellscape from the first game, or perhaps the frozen meat-locker-esque nightmare that Eddie Dombrowski suffered. The sky is the limit!

One other thing that will be influenced by your character will be puzzles. A Silent Hill RP without puzzles would be like pokemon without… well… pokemon in them. Once in a while your characters will come across a puzzle they must solve to access certain areas or obtain certain items, though they won’t be as frequent as monster encounters.

Pokemon

Pokemon in this roleplay are your literal lifeline in this RP. They will act as your main defence and offence during your time in the Otherworld. They will not be quite as vulnerable as you are – they’re creatures that beat each other up in battle, after all – but should your pokemon faint you will be unable to call it out of its pokeball until you either take it to the Solaceon pokemon centre or use a Revive (which won’t be easy to come by). Take care of your partner’s – they’re worth their weight in gold now.

You will be allowed a maximum of 3 pokemon in your party, and only one of them can be fully evolved for the sake of balance and challenge. In addition to this you may also have up to 2 healing items for pokemon in your inventory at the start.

I’m going to be fairly lax about what you can and can’t have on your team. The exceptions are of course legendary pokemon and megas. Anything else is fair game. If you have any questions regarding what you want for your team, let me know – I don’t bite!

Weapons

Being in a world filled with magical creatures that are clearly more useful than, say, a handgun or a Taser means that most people will not have weapons on their possession. But that does not mean to say that no weapons will be allowed at all. In fact certain items your character might have can become weapons in the future, such as monkey wrenches or pen knives. Weapons will also be made available to you as you explore Solaceon as I, the GM, see fit.

You may also start out with a small weapon if you’d like, but nothing bigger than a chef’s knife. This is a survival horror RP after all. And no, none of the sillier weapons that can be unlocked after getting certain endings at the end of each Silent Hill game will be allowed.

Physical/Mental Health

Being a survival RP, a lot of your focus will be on keeping your character alive. There are two kinds of health you will need to take care of - physical and mental. These things will either increase or decrease depending on your actions.

Physical statuses:

Healthy – Completely healthy. No injuries have been sustained.
Fine – Minor wounds sustained, however injuries have no effect on body.
Caution – Moderate wounds sustained. Movement, speed and reaction times will be slowed slightly until wounds have been taken care of.
Danger – Severe wounds sustained, immediate medical treatment is needed. Movement, speed and reaction times will be slowed down immensely.
Dead – You’re dead. That’s it. The end.

Your physical health can be brought back up to healthy by using healing items that you’d typically find from first aid kits or items found in pharmacies. You can start out with up to two different healing items in your inventory, and others can be found around Solaceon if needed.

Mental statuses:

Calm – You have a firm grip on reality. Everything is fine.
Uneasy – You’re a little bit on edge, which makes sense considering your situation.
Scared – You will most likely enter this mode when you encounter something unpleasant. Your accuracy will be lowered slightly. There is also a slim chance that you’ll start hallucinating things that maybe don’t exist.
Panicked – You’re losing it quite badly. Accuracy is severely reduced however your speed will increase. Hallucinations will be much more frequent and your sanity will start to drop (see below).

When the roleplay starts everyone’s sanity will be at 100%, but as things progress and your characters experience more and more disturbing things this meter will start to drop. After it drops past a certain point you’re going to start losing your grip on reality. Your character will start to hallucinate, and before long you will start to go insane. Performing certain acts can bring your sanity back up, such as talking to other players or interacting with your pokemon.

Should your sanity drop to zero… well… I’ll be keeping that as a rather nasty surprise. Try not to think about it too much if you can.

About the Rating

It’s a Silent Hill RP. Of course there’s gonna be some f’ed up stuff here, it’s par for the course. But I will produce a list of the sort of topics that will be brought up:

* Violence/Gore (mostly violence)
* Sexual Themes
* Themes of Physical/Mental Abuse
* Depression
* Themes of Addiction
* Horror Themes

If you can’t handle these things, then you’re probably not gonna want to take part in this RP. Sorry.

About the RP

I’ll get to the point – this RP is geared towards more mature and experienced RPers. As with most of my RPs I am willing to make exceptions should you wish to join and be relatively new to RPing. I don’t intend for this to be a very long RP either, so spaces are going to be limited. However, if there is enough interest I will consider extending the amount of players from 6 to however many places needed.

* All serebiiforum RP rules apply.

6.

Name: Agatha Pridmore

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Appearance: Broad and well built, Agatha is quite fit for someone of her age. She stands at around 5’5” and her muscles are toned thanks to her general lifestyle in Hoenn. She has olive skin that is covered in pale scars and scratches from exploring the areas around the archaeological sites her father worked at, the most prominent of which tapers up her right leg. She has mid-length chocolate brown hair and hazel eyes that can come across as quite piercing depending on the expression she’s wearing. Her general features are quite sharp and her standard expression usually involves either frowning or furrowing her brow – as if she is deep in thought or something particularly troublesome is bothering her.

Agatha’s general attire is quite relaxed when compared to her general demeanour. She likes to wear clothes that are comfortable, but still make her at least a little presentable whenever she goes to college. Her favourite outfit involves a black and white striped shirt and jet-black trousers that are relatively torn and scuffed in places from being worn so much. She is usually seen wearing a worn out brown leather jacket too that smells faintly of her father’s cologne and only ever takes it off when it is way too hot to be wearing such a thing.

Personality: Agatha is quite a reserved person and that is mostly due to her mantra being not to interact with other people unless it is absolutely necessary. She comes off as very stern and direct – even blunt at times – and doesn’t like to sugar-coat anything she says. Agatha prefers to stay on her own unless a situation forces her to work with others, and even then she only says the absolute minimum. As a result a lot of people tend to think of her as rude or aloof and this has resulted in her not having very many friends. She’s the exact opposite with pokemon – Agatha adores them and will almost immediately become open and friendly to them as if she’s known them her whole life.

Those who eventually manage to get past her cold exterior discover that she’s actually quite a thoughtful and sympathetic person. The friends that she does make that are human are kept very close to her heart and she’ll do anything to protect those she cares about. That being said she can be overprotective at times, but she means well and her motives are usually in the right place. Agatha is quite diligent about the tasks that she’s been set – no matter how mundane or uninteresting it is, she will more than likely stick to it until the job is finished – even if that means working late into the night and losing out on sleep in the process. This mind-set also allows Agatha to find unique ways of approaching problems that others wouldn’t think of. She tends to mull over her duties too – worrying if she has done a good enough job even though others think that she’s done much more than she actually believes she has.

History: Originally from Hoenn, Agatha was born to a loving couple in Fortree who cared for her as much as any good parents would. She also had a godfather who lived in Rustboro, working for the Devon Corporation as part of a team that was inventing a new model of a machine that could revive newly discovered prehistoric pokemon. He would come and visit his godchild and her family whenever time allowed it, and kept in touch with her family as much as he could. This changed when the hurricane occurred, though. Hoenn was well-known for storms but none were quite as severe as the one that practically levelled Fortree to the ground. Agatha was six months old at the time and miraculously survived the hurricane thanks to the intuition of her mother, who had placed her securely in a closet just before the hurricane passed through. The same could not be said for her parents – their bodies were found amongst the wreckage and there was nothing the paramedics could do to revive them.

Her godfather was absolutely devastated by the loss of Agatha’s parents, but was more than happy to adopt her as his own. Once the legalities had been sorted out he took her to live in Rustboro with him, and while it took a while for the wounds to heal and the dust to settle the both of them had happy lives together. As time passed Agatha became very interested in fossil pokemon and would constantly ask her adoptive father about the machine he was working on, hoping to see it in action when it finally worked. Her wish came true in 2002, where she got to see a pokemon being brought back to life at the age of seven – and this sparked her interest in science and technology – a path that would eventually lead Agatha to going to college in Goldenrod to become a pokemon professor.

Just over two years have passed since Agatha went to Johto to start her degree – and now that the university has broken up for the summer she’s decided to join her father on a vacation to the Sinnoh region. But while looking for prime vacation spots online Agatha stumbled across a quieter location known as Solaceon. She couldn’t explain why, but a sudden wave of desire washed over her body as she read details about the little town. She really, really wanted to go there – and her father, despite his surprise over her decision, decided that they’d spend a week of their vacation in Solaceon before moving onto Veilstone just beyond.

Fears:

* Storms – Agatha remembers very little about her real parents, but she does recall the violent hurricane that took them from her. She tends to stay indoors when there’s a storm, but will put on a brave face so that others don’t pick up on her worries.

* Heights – While she’s fine with stable buildings like the Devon Corporation Agatha finds it extremely hard to cross things like rickety bridges or staircases that have see-through steps. This is also a result of what happened to her as a baby.

Other:

* Agatha likes other ladies and has been like this since childhood. She hasn’t told anybody about her preferences, though.

Starting Inventory:

* x1 Bandage
* x1 Super Potion
* x1 Candy Bar (bought from a gas station on her journey to Solaceon)
* x1 Revive
* x1 Wallet (contains money, ID cards, and a photograph of herself, her father and their pokemon)
* x1 Laptop (used for essays and browsing the web)

Pokemon 1

Spr_5b_137.png

Nickname: Vertex
Species: Porygon
Gender: Genderless – Refers to Vertex as a “he”.

Appearance: Just your typical porygon. He has an ID number tattooed on his back that reads: P-102.
Personality: Modest and easy-going, Vertex is built to serve and does his job well. He expresses himself using his eyes mostly but is capable of voicing his concerns verbally if needs be using bleeps and digital, synthesized soundwaves.
History: Vertex and Agatha crossed paths during her first year of college. He was assigned to Agatha by Goldenrod University as part of her course on pokemon studies as well as researching on the bonds people have with pokemon. As it turned out porygon are just as sentient as any other pokemon and Agatha and Vertex became quite close during their time together. Agatha even applied to keep him for her second year and, providing the amount of research she had done on her bond with Vertex, received approval from the university to continue her research with him.

Moveset:
* Lock On
* Tri Attack
* Agility
* Discharge

Other:

* The tattoo on Vertex's back is not just for show - it holds protection data that prevents anybody copying Vertex's data and hacking him.

Pokemon 2
Spr_5b_252_s.png

Nickname: Adan
Species: Treecko
Gender: Male

Appearance: Is shiny. Other than that he’s a typical treecko.
Personality: Docile and playful, Adan is a typical little kid. He’s quite energetic and loves to play games, even if Agatha or her other pokemon don’t want to or can’t for whatever reason. He also loves a good fight, and Agatha often finds herself struggling to keep him from pouncing on another persons’ pokemon before they’ve even got the chance to as her to battle in the first place.
History: Agatha received Adan as a birthday gift from her father. Seeing as she was beginning to study starter pokemon he felt it would be a good idea to get her one to help with her course. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was for the egg he got from a breeder in Hoenn to hatch into a treecko that was teal and red instead of green and pink.

Moveset:
* Pound
* Leer
* Synthesis

Other:

* Adan loves peanut butter and will do whatever he can to get some.
* His father was a meganium, hence why he knows the move Synthesis.

Pokemon 3
Spr_5b_475.png

Nickname: Lancelot
Species: Gallade
Gender: Male

Appearance: Your typical gallade. Has many scratches and scars on his body from his time serving as the family bodyguard.
Personality: Adamant and loyal, Lancelot is an older pokemon with plenty of experience under his non-existent belt. He’s a no-nonsense sort of pokemon and will muscle in as soon as he catches a hint of trouble brewing for Agatha or her father. But when he’s not being a guard he can be a lovely pokemon who gets along with other people quite well.
History: Lancelot belonged to Agatha’s adoptive father. Once a ralts he caught as a child, Lancelot has grown up alongside him as well as his adopted daughter. Her father decided to evolve Lancelot into a gallade after one of his co-workers was almost mugged by a member of a terrorist organisation known as Team Aqua, and has served as the family’s bodyguard ever since.

Moveset:
* Slash
* Psycho Cut
* Protect
* Helping Hand

Other:

* Despite being registered as her father’s pokemon Lancelot follows Agatha’s orders without question.

Name: Isaac Aain Casanova
Age: Twenty-Three
Gender: Male
Appearance:
R66jli0.png

Isaac was everything fifteen year old me wanted appearance wise in a boyfriend, although he's a little shorter than I'd like. Isaac stands at around 5'8", which is an area of noticeable annoyance for him. His strong voice is often commented on in a downcast way, with people remarking about how such a powerful voice could come from just a short man. Isaac has a little bit of noticeable muscle tone, however these days it's looking more and more like a dad body. He's a little rough around the edges with a minor gut, but these days it feels like it adds to the mature vibe his music is going for. His face is mature, although sullen for someone of his age. His cheekbones have noticeable definition, adding proper depth to his facial structure and giving him an even more handsome appearance. That's what makes the ladies go crazy for Casanova Aain. His face, although well taken care of and properly groomed usually has stubble left on it. Isaac hates going baby-faced, he would much rather appear like he hasn't shaved in weeks than look like a child. His five o'clock shadow has luckily become expected and welcomed by fans of his music, as well as an sexual and romantic partners he wishes to pursue. His eyes are a bold shade of green, however they usually have fairly noticeable bags under them from Isaac staying up late attempting to write songs instead of getting his beauty sleep. His hair is sleek, well groomed and "fluffy", for lack of a better word. It's a typical and plain brown in colour, short, with the bangs spiked upwards to a degree. However, the young man usually tucks his hair into a beanie.

Isaac usually likes to look as casual as he possibly can, doning a long sleeved green sweatshirt and even sometimes going as far as to cover that with a deep moss green coloured hoodie. It's a wonder he doesn't sweat to death on average days. For pants he usually tends to stick to black sweats, with his favourite green converse placed snugly upon his feet.

Personality: Isaac is quiet, for the most part. He prefers to keep to himself, not really speaking unless spoken to, not outwardly attempting to engage with others. He's a closed book, it's pretty difficult for you to tell what he's thinking about unless you know him well. Which you probably don't, the only person who really knows the "real" him is Vinny, but she can't exactly talk to tell you what he's like. He heavily values being alone, especially after a long show. He doesn't "get" people, he doesn't understand why people display emotions in such different ways and prefers to interact with humans as little as he possible can. They're frightening war hungry beasts after all --- but Pokemon, Isaac feels like he can really understand Pokemon. He will always take the company of the adorable creatures over that of humans, they don't make fun of him or poke at the sad meanings in his song lyrics. Actually, Isaac might have a minor case of Anthropophobia --- or more simply, a literal fear of humans and interacting with them. This stems from some childhood trauma regarding many kids making fun of his somewhat noticeable trident lisp, which is only apparent when he speaks --- not when he sings. Isaac himself is very self conscious of his lisp, going out of his way to avoid words that make cause it to slip up. Don't bring it up if you don't want him to get upset, it's a pretty touchy subject for him.

Isaac's music is somewhat sad, reflecting the way he views society. He pities them in a way, finding that people as a whole are a very sad and messed up group of people. Obviously, quite a few people have found solace and relatability in his music, as he has a pretty huge fanbase at this point. Actually, Isaac is somewhat of a different person when he's hiding behind the mask of fame. He becomes far more outgoing, bold, and unfiltered. Fans would describe Isaac --- or as he's better known to them, Casanova Aain, as an extremely outgoing activist personality. Probably someone that would make a strong leader if ever presented with the opportunity, unabashed and unafraid. Isaac is actually a little bit of a fame monster, he's pushed away all of his interpersonal relationships to exclusively work on his music --- as that is what brings him the greatest joy in life. You could almost equate fame to a drug for him, it fuels him and all those cheering fans are only making his ego as Casanova Aain stronger.

Many people, fans and critics alike believe that Casanova Aain might be a strong persona to hide behind, made by someone who has no sense of individuality or is extremely uncomfortable in their own skin. The latter is the more correct of the two, as Isaac might be the most afraid of himself. He's uncomfortable with his appearance, thinking he appears to be a slob. He's uncomfortable with his voice, even though he's the singer and guitarist of his one man show. And he's especially uncomfortable with his own sexuality, finding it to be a confusing and difficult subject to talk about. Romantic pursuits have never been for him to begin with, but he's had even more trouble getting attached to other humans after his long term boyfriend left him due to an explosive fight. Isaac has never actually recovered from this, turning to drugs for newfound support. He's sticking to his old motto that a significant other will only get in the way, as this has seemingly proven true.

Isaac, although quiet, is a great speaking companion... figuratively speaking. Isaac is the greatest listener in the world, although he may often seem disinterested and angry --- he is actually very curious about what makes other people tick or get upset and would very much like to hear your take on these things. Although he may follow it up with somewhat blunt and unwelcome advice, but hey, at least he talked to you, right? He's also very excitable about topics he's interested in, and may actually talk your ear off if you peak his interest. His favourite subjects are music, Pokemon breeding, and movies.

History: Isaac was born to a normal, kind, middle-class family in Lacunosa Town in the Unova region. His mother, Elaine Casanova (née: Dewitt) felt extremely blessed following the birth of Isaac, as her and her husband, Leon, had been trying for years to get pregnant with little success. As he was the first born, and assumed by his parents to be their only child he was absolutely spoiled from the time he was old enough to form words in order to say what he wanted. By definition, Isaac wasn't a spoiled rotten child --- as he expected actually very little from his parents, however they often far exceeded anything he thought they would and threw their hard earned money on the latest toys for him. His parents always spent time with the young boy, from birth to age eight they were ever present. Although his parents both worked steady jobs to maintain their home and raise their child, they gave Isaac the best possible life they could, making sure to spend enough time with him so he would never get lonely and lash out.

Unfortunately for Isaac, growing up with two parents that loved him dearly and took him on all sorts of adventures would draw to a close when he was around eight and half. His parents had run into money troubles, with his father's gambling problems being the source. Isaac was too young to understand at the time, despite being a rather intelligent boy who always did well in school he was still just a boy. His mother had finally had enough, booting his father out of the house and filling for divorce not long after. Isaac was devastated, but found it comforting that he was still able to visit his father whenever he pleased. His parents had split custody, meaning he would stay at his mother's house for two weeks and then go to his father's home for a week. It was actually a nice outlet for the young boy, as his father maintained the spoiling that he was known for and sometimes even bought Isaac far more than he could afford. His father was never a man that knew how to manage money, and living in that one bedroom apartment was evidence upon itself. Isaac had to sleep on the futon in the living room during his stays, but he never minded --- at least he was able to see his father. It went on like this for a few years, at the age of ten Isaac was giving two copies of his final report card for his parents. There were straight As all around, and during his visit to his father's, his dad found it appropriate to award him for his efforts.

The two went to a local market in Castelia City, where the boy saw the object of his ultimate desires. A beautiful guitar. It was a little pricey, especially for his father's part time job at the butcher --- but his father felt that he had earned it. Isaac was ecstatic, learning how to play it with practice and becoming actually quite good. His voice wasn't too shabby either, a voice coach would certainly work wonders to improve his talents. His father felt like he had real talent, encouraging his wild dreams to be a musician and even coughing up more money for guitar and voice lessons. Once he was back at his mother's however, things changed. His mother's new boyfriend, Ansel, had recently moved in with them upon finding out that Elaine was pregnant with his child. Isaac was quite excited to learn he was actually going to have someone around other than him and his mother, although he wasn't exactly crazy about the way Ansel spoke about his father. But, his mom liked him --- and that was what really mattered. About a month after Isaac turned eleven, Lily was born. She was beautiful, bright eyed, and quite loud. But Isaac loved her from the moment he first saw her. He was the best big brother he could be, and upon Lily's 7th birthday he was ready to set out into the big world --- looking for fame.

His mother and Ansel didn't exactly approve of his newfound dreams to be a musician however, they spoke of how it was "foolish" to expect fame and fortune and that they boy should actually find a proper career of some kind. Go to school, pick up some sort of field and stick with it. Isaac wasn't too thrilled with the notion, but agreed nonetheless. Being eighteen and freshly out of high school, he decided to try to get a major in breeding, despite knowing very little about Pokemon. A requirement of the university he wished to attend was to have a Pokemon companion, to better learn how to interact with the creatures. Luckily for Isaac, Ansel had picked him up a small graduation gift from himself and Elaine --- a small female Eevee. Isaac loved her, truly, it was love at first sight and she helped him excel in his classes. Isaac's intelligence had stayed, and he flew through school effortlessly. All until the day of his final exam.

The exam seemed easy on paper, prove that you had the ability to select a Pokemon couple and breed them for their traits --- successfully delivering the egg in the process. He selected a Pikachu as the female, and a Mienfoo as the father. It seemed simple, and he was ready to become a fully certified breeder. The breeding itself went fine, all until the Pikachu actually needed to deliver the egg. There were complications that could have been avoided, and for Isaac's excitability and lack of patience --- he lost the mother and the unborn child in the process. Isaac was devastated, he could not believe he had killed a living thing. The graduation ceremony was tomorrow, and he didn't have the strength to face his parents and tell them the truth. So he ran, taking only his guitar and his Eevee with him.

Isaac lived on the street for a year after this, he preformed on street corners for cash and found a new companion to cope with the pain. The drugs. Drugs were Isaac's new best friend, he used them to nullify his vision of that Pikachu bleeding out in his hands, and to feel a new strength from his music. One day while preforming on the street corner, Isaac was seen by a producer who simply adored his sound, he offered Isaac the deal of a lifetime and Isaac was quick to agree. He had it all so fast, fame, fortune, and all the drugs he could ask for. It was at one of his concerts that he met him, that boy in the green hat. They were around the same age, and Isaac caught sigh of him in the crowd --- banging his head with his Jolteon in tow. Following the show, the boy asked for an autograph, and Isaac was quick to ask for a phone number. The boy's name was Kyle, and they connected almost instantly. Numerous dates followed, with the two falling hard and fast for each other. Until Isaac's overdose dragged them apart.

Isaac had mixed far too many drugs at one of his parties, passing out in a pool of his own vomit and having a seizure. Kyle was mortified, rushing him to the hospital as fast as he could. Luckily for Isaac, he was alright. But Kyle had had enough, he hated the way Isaac was living. He hated that the drugs were his main focus, and he hated the fact that Isaac's circle of music "friends" was more important than him. Kyle severed their relationship there, which only made Isaac's habits grow far, far worse. Music became his entire life, not wanting to get hurt again he shoved everyone away. His only friends were Vinny, drugs, and his music. After his breakup, his music had begun to grow more and more depressing. And following him vomiting into the crowd at a concert following a drunken binge (which was of course, broadcasted all over the news), his manager advised him to take a vacation. Paying for a trip to Solaceon. His manager assured him it was a quiet little town and it would be the perfect place for him to lay low while publicity clamored for him.

Fears:
  • Needles: Ever since his near-death experience due to overdosing, Isaac has avoided any and all needles. He prefers to only smoke cigarettes or weed at this point... and drinking.
  • Drowning: With such depressing music, it's no surprise that Isaac has explored the topic of death many many times in his music. More often than not reflecting himself drowning, far off from society. Although he has never expressed it, fans believe it must be a deep rooted fear.
Other:
  • He's gay, but this isn't exactly a publicly known fact.
Starting Inventory: (You have up to 6 slots to fill when you start. Choose your items wisely!)
* Cigarettes/Lighter
* Wallet (includes a small picture of him and Vinny, the only girl in his life that matters, it's from one of those cheap photobooths you find around malls)
* A notebook with a cheap pen shoved into the spine, contains all sorts of song lyrics
* A revive
* A bottle of Lemonade
* A tensor bandage (For his weak wrist)

Pokemon

leafeon.gif

Nickname: Vinny
Species: Leafeon
Gender: Female

Appearance: Vinny is a tiny bit smaller than the standard run of the mill Leafeon, being the runt of her litter. Her leaves have more of a blueish hue to them, appearing crisp and somewhat cold and cool. She wears a dark green ascot around her neck, similar to how the Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon wear their scarves. The scarf has a collar attached to it that says "Vinny" on the front in fancy cursive writing, the back says "Aain's girl".

Personality: Vinny could be described as a tomboy in her attitudes, she’s quick to jump to conclusions with other Pokemon and start fights. She also adores getting dirty and play fighting with other Pokemon, as well as pranks and causing trouble, often taking food from other Pokemon’s bowls in an attempt to stir up trouble. Isaac will always scold her but never really does a good job of it. She loves being the centre of attention, usually seen on Isaac’s shoulder or following directly behind him wherever he goes, she even dances along to his shows and music videos --- often attempting to steal the show. However, Vinny cares deeply for her trainer and would do anything to protect him. Much like Isaac, she also likes keeping to herself and being a lone wolf, preferring to stay on her own and getting minorly territorial when other Pokemon, particularly females, get close to her master.

History: Vinny was given to Isaac as a graduation present by his step-father and mother. She was a young Eevee back then, ready to attend university with the much less jaded Isaac. Vinny is the girl that matters most in Isaac's life, perhaps the only girl that actually matters, and she's fully aware of this. While Isaac was living on the street, she evolved in order to fend off the street rats that sometimes plagued their sleeping areas in alleys. Since their meeting, Vinny has fallen in love with her master in a deep way. She wants to be the only girl that matters to him, and luckily for her, it seems that Isaac doesn't really have an interest in other women.

Moveset:

  • Leaf Blade
  • X-Scissor
  • Swords Dance

zangoose.gif

Nickname: Vanderlyle "Vander"
Species: Zangoose
Gender: Male

Appearance: Has a scar over his right eye from a spar with Kyp.

Personality: Vander was traded to Isaac by a former friend, he's considering one of the "golden trio" --- the three Pokemon that saw Isaac through his worst days. However, unlike Kyp and Vinny, he holds a deep resentment for his trainer. He dislikes Isaac as a person, despite everything Isaac has done to improve himself, he still finds a certain dislike in the man. Isaac is his trainer and he respects his orders, however, he finds Isaac as a whole to be somewhat insufferable. He's appalled that Kyp and Vinny are able to tolerate their trainer, a miserable man that cared more about his drugs than he did to anyone close to him. He is sure to make Isaac aware of this fact, including taking a little too much pleasure in getting physical with Isaac --- including slapping him in the face, as well as biting his legs to ground him. He is good friends with Kyp, who has been his sparing buddy since he came to the team.

History: Vander was traded to Isaac by a former friend, one that left Isaac once he got too famous and far too into the drugs for the liking of this friend. Vander is fully aware of the fact, still having his loyalties lie with the old trainer... not bothering to obey or respect Isaac's commands. He has had a crush on Vinny since he joined the team, but he finds that his affections often go unnoticed when pitted against Kyp.

Moveset:

  • Crush Claw
  • Night Slash
  • False Swipe
  • Quick Attack
meowth-alola.gif

Nickname: Reynard
Species: Alolan Meowth
Gender: Male

Appearance: A normal A.Meowth,

Personality: A very friendly and flirtatious Meowth. He thinks the world is his oyster, and he intends to please as many females as he can while he's alive. Vinny is disgusting by his courtship actions, but he's certain that she'll eventually come around. He's usually seen getting on Isaac's nerves, as he often acts quite smug around him.

History: While Isaac was living on the street, Reynard decided to steal food from him --- terrible mistake. Isaac punished the cat by capturing him in a spare Pokeball he found on the streets, Reynard obeys his master more than Vander despite this fact... but he's certainly sure to make Isaac squirm and work hard to get him to obey.

Skillfulness - Of course, reserve noted.

Hydrangea - Could I get you to change one of the two fully evolved pokemon in your team to its previous form (I know Manetric can become a mega but those are off limits so I consider those pokemon fully evolved)? Other than that everything looks great!

Name: Marth Wylson
Age: 32
Gender: Male

Appearance:

7L0tUts.png

Marth is average height for a man his age, he hasn’t started shrinking yet. Though there are a few flecks of silver in his dull, black hair. It’s not the shortest cut, but it’s kept out of his eyes and usually has a windswept look to it. His thick eyebrows rest above his emerald green eyes with a slightly pudgy nose. His face looks young, people often assuming he is younger than he really is. Along with the frequent exercising keeping his body in good shape and his dark, spotless skin, he usually attracts younger crowds. On his torso and upper thighs, hidden under layers of clothes, he has a number of scars; scratches and some bruises that simply never healed properly.

Occasionally, Marth walks with a slight limp on his left leg. It doesn’t get sore, but his foot was damaged and sometimes makes it difficult to walk normally. He almost never makes eye contact with people, but looks at their mouth or forehead to make it appear like he is more confident than he is. On the rare cases he fully smiles, his cheeks rise up and make his eyes almost disappear into the thinnest of slits, but good luck making him that joyful.

For attire, Marth prefers practical and comfortable. He loves to wear plain sneakers and khakis or jeans. As long as there’s enough pockets, he’ll wear it. He only wears shorts that reach his knees, even with bathing suits. Tops are usually tee shirts or tanks that are loose rather than fitted. While he has a few patterned tops, plains ones are preferred and easier to use for work. Layering is one of his favorite things to do and he owns dozens of jackets in different colors and styles; hoodies, suit jackets, sleeveless pullovers, cardigans, anything he can slip over a top to add a simple flair to his outfit. The one thing he always wears is a golden watch, a gift from his ex-wife.

Personality:
Marth is a meek and cynical individual. He doesn’t speak up much and is not very confident in himself at all. He is a gentle and kind individual though, always courteous and well mannered. While he really does try to make friends with others, he always has nagging doubts in the back of his mind. He’s terribly insecure and doesn’t believe others really want to spend time with him. He still does his best to enjoy himself and can often push away such thoughts in the moment. Outside of being invited to things or seeing people on his usual errands and free time, he isn’t proactive about keeping up with friendships. He is content to let the world move along while he goes at his own pace.

To others, Marth is just an average guy who plays video games and jogs in the morning. Those he games or jogs with will note he seems much more lively during these activities. While he’s on his own though, he mostly feels and acts empty. Part of him is still stuck in his past life and he has trouble moving on from it. He does a good job of not letting people know and bottling things up, letting feelings out when he is working out or during intense video game sessions. He can and will talk about his past, but he doesn’t feel alright discussing his feelings on the matter. He’s curt, to the point, but polite and can still hold a conversation if the other person keeps things going. Mostly he’s somewhat of a shell of a man, his liveliest and happiest days behind him.

History:
Marth grew up with a fairly well off family. His parents were business minded and gave him and his brother an easy childhood. Then again, they weren’t around often so maids and butlers were their source of rearing. His older brother bullied him, but nothing too extreme that Marth would speak up about it. So he put up with it and grew up a quiet and complacent child.

Marth went to college for a degree in accounting, but he had quite the party life. He was quiet, but a good listener and found the right friends that got him to loosen up. His personality was also attractive to the women, having never been in a relationship he would usually do no more than flirt in return. One woman, Juliet, knew how to push his buttons though and he started pursuing her. They got married a year after college and they both had well paying jobs. His parents were proud, but still remained relatively distant. He almost never heard from his brother at the top of some corporate ladder in Johto.

Marth and Juliet found a cozy place in Unova and got some companion Pokemon. Marth had a greater desire though and they discussed having a child. The funds were no problem, but Juliet was anxious. She also had started behaving differently, lashing out at him after a stressful day at work. Things escalated, but he never sought help or stood up to her. It was domestic abuse, plain and simple, but Marth was determined to stick through the marriage, especially once they became pregnant.

Nine months later and Brittany was born. She was a happy, healthy baby, but Juliet’s abuse towards Marth only got worse. About two years after Brittany was born, Juliet wanted a divorce. Apparently she had come to terms with how terrible a wife she was and she wanted to be a better mother, so she asked to divorce and for him to leave so she could try to improve. It devastated Marth; he loved being a father, but he also understood how severe the abuse had gotten. He simply agreed and the papers were filed. He left the region entirely, trying to distance himself from what he hoped would have been a happy life. Making his way to Kalos, he earned a gun license to become a security guard; a nice change of pace and further distance from his previous life with a new kind of job. He liked the different hours as it gave him an excuse to avoid people as well. Not fond of taking time off, Marth’s manager finally convinced him to take at least a few days off and suggested that a sleepy little town in Sinnoh might be perfect for him.

Fears:
Being Alone - Marth is worried that after one failed relationship, he will never be able to please another person again. He is hopeless in regards to ever finding someone who will care about him as much as he cares for them.

Close Spaces - Claustrophobia. One time his brother locked him in a closet for a little too long and the fear stuck with him into adulthood.

Letting People Down - Another fear stemming from his divorce, Marth is worried he can never live up to people's expectations.

Other:
  • Marth has a concealed carry license and occasionally goes to the range with a friend or two.
  • He works out every or every other morning with his Pokemon and sometimes a friend.
  • While not a full blown alcoholic, he divulges with friends on a weekend with game night or half off beers.
  • He has somewhat let his apartment go. It’s not a disaster, and he can easily clean if guests are coming over, but though he takes care of his body, the same could not be said of his living space.
  • He often gets headaches or migraines with a storm front, fortunately only the naturally forming ones. He has noticed that Pokemon moves won’t cause one.
Starting Inventory:
* Handgun (concealed, even on vacation, it makes him feel more comfortable)
* Wallet (some cash, cards, and his IDs)
* Super Potion
* Revive
* Flashlight (standard issue from work, comes in handy more than you’d think)
* Pain medication (over the counter, in the event of headaches)

Pokemon

Nickname: Starshine
Species: Pumpkaboo
Gender: Male

Appearance: ---

Personality: Starshine is about the happiest Pokemon you will ever meet. He doesn’t let anything get him down and has a childlike look on life. Everything is an exciting, new adventure, and even if things don’t go well or as planned, he is content with trying it anyway. In sad or scary situations, he isn’t really fazed. He still stays happy, but tries to better understand why nothing else is going well. Maybe a little slow to pick up on things, he’s a little oblivious to everything but danger. He has a strange instinct for protection all while keeping a smile on his little pumpkin face.

History: Starshine was a Pokemon Marth got in celebration of his daughters birth. He wanted to train the Pokemon to one day give to his daughter, but after the divorce, his dreams were dashed. Starshine did what he could to cheer Marth up, but he knew it wasn’t enough. Instead, Starshine kept being happy whenever he could and every once in a while would get through to his trainer. He is not the most battle ready, but more of a bittersweet companion. He reminds Marth of his past, but of a sweet and shining time in his life when he was a father.

Moveset:

Other: ---

Nickname: Pearl
Species: Purrloin
Gender: Female

Appearance: Pearl wears a beautiful silky green collar with a small ribbon off centered. Sometimes she likes to bat it from side to side, but she makes sure it’s never in the center. She prefers asymmetrical beauty.

Personality: Pearl puts on a bratty, entitled facade. She loves to act out, whine, and be a huge drama queen, but she’s actually almost as insecure as her trainer. She wants to be strong and beautiful, so does her best. Well, she tries to, but she’s also incredibly lazy. The one thing that will get her moving is a command from her trainer. Being with him during his marriage, she feels she deeply understands how their relationship worked and how to best comfort him. She is usually good at doing that.

History: Shortly after being married, Juliet and Marth got a pair of Pokemon to share; a Poochyena and Purrloin. Marth chose Pearl and the two got along right off the bat. She was a comfort to him after especially abusive times from his wife and was fairly playful with the baby. After the divorce, she was a constant comfort. She is well trained for battle, maybe close to evolving, but not as rigorously trained as other members on the team.

Moveset:
Night Slash
Pursuit
Torment
Hone Claws

Other: Pearl is allergic to seafood and is incredibly annoyed by the fact because it taste delicious.

Nickname: Ogre
Species: Noivern
Gender: Male

Appearance: The teal spots in his ears and armpits are more of a shade of forest green. It may have to do with him evolving in a region different from where he was caught.

Personality: Ogre has a bit of an attitude. He can quickly become enraged or annoyed, but calms down just as easily. He is deathly loyal to his trainer and will rein himself in for Marth, no matter what. He is also terribly playful and really enjoys a good practical joke. They were easier to pull off when he was smaller though before he evolved. He and Marth have a deep understanding of each other and while his other Pokemon can temporarily comfort and distract him, Ogre can free Marth from his sorrows and insecurities while they are together. He takes pride in the fact that he can help his trainer as much as Marth has helped him. They grow stronger together.

History: Marth’s first Pokemon, caught on his own as a Noibat. The two are nearly inseparable from all the time they have spent together. Ogre helped him earn some badges early in their time together, but they never did any serious attempts. After marrying, he evolved and the two liked to take flights together to get away from stress at home. He was also quick to bond with the baby, playing with her and lifting her up, but never too high. After the divorce, they flew a lot. Ogre knew that Marth needed time, distance, and quiet, so he did his best to provide that for his trainer. Training together helps them to both relax, making Ogre the strongest on the team.

Moveset:
Dragon Pulse
Razor Wind
Air Cutter
Roost

Other: Ogre has a few battle scars from getting too reckless. His wings and legs have scratch and burn marks that never healed as the the injuries were too deep.

Sketchie

Name: Karen Finch
Age: 41
Gender: Female
Theme Song: Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves, Harden My Heart - Quarterflash, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cindy Lauper

VxvkalW.png
s3eqQVX.png

Appearance: Karen is fairly middle aged, but she wears it well. She looks graceful, elegant, wise. Her skin is lightly tanned, her face graced with light smile lines. Her smile is warm and loving, like the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning. She has soft, forest green eyes, filled with motherly love (or motherly disappointment, if be the case). Her hair isn't as bright and shiny as it was, dulled by age and children, but it's still as soft as it used to be. Grey-blonde, it reaches down to her mid back, but she usually has it pulled up in a bun. Her nose is small and cute, her lips soft and glossy (it's Loreal, by the way). She's somewhat tall and willowy, standing at 5'9", although she has wider mom hips from two children. Both of her ears are double pierced. She no longer wears her wedding ring.

Karen is a born and raised adventurer, which is what brought her to Solaceon in the first place, and she's dressed like it. She's currently in a modest red t-shirt and a denim vest, paired navy blue mom jeans. Her shoes are her old adventure boots, scuffed and worn and loved. She is also wearing her lucky crystal, one she found hiking near Almia Castle, secured safely around her neck. She has a leather knapsack with her that she carries everything in, including a sheer brown shawl.

Personality: Karen is the pinnacle of Mom. Warm and inviting, she makes everyone feel like they're wanted. She has an air of wisdom and elegance about her, right down to the way she moves. She's a well of life advice and a spring of gentle nudges. She almost always has a sweet smile on her face, even when she's not feeling it, believing in the importance of a good attitude. She can definitely pull out the Disappointed Mom Look -- and it's a look to be reckoned with. Just one look, and you'll immediately feel the guilt was over you. She's one hellova mama dragon, dedicated to protecting her children, biological or otherwise.

She isn't a quiet mama, that's for sure. She loves a good laugh, and has the gift of Mom Puns. Even her own birthed children can't keep up. She loves to dance and be silly, having overcome the fear of being embarrassed. Karen is supportive, but not an enabler. She'll do what she can to help those who need it, but she won't allow any bullcrap. She will call you out if you're doing something stupid, but she'll also try to push you in the right direction. She's the kind of person everyone needs in their life. She also has a tendency to just... do random kind stuff. All the time. Here, I made you this cake. Why? Don't ask. It's cake day for you. To some, it might be a little overwhelming, but it's the best way Karen shows her love.

Karen is a born and raised adventurer, and four kids hasn't pulled her away from her biggest passion. The outdoors are her calling. She loves hiking and camping and exploring, especially when she's with her family. Caves and ruins are her thing especially. She loves cooking and baking, it's calming and she likes being able to create and provide. She loves music, especially the 80s jams she grew up with. She can sing quite well and play the piano, but that's about the extent of her ability. (She won't hesitate to sing along in the car, nor will she hesitate cranking it up when aforementioned 80s Jams play.) Karen also loves the art of crafting. While she never got the hang of knitting or crochet, she has a knack for cross-stitching. There's something about how fine and delicate needlepoint is, and she feels her tiny hands are better suited for tiny needles anyway. She has an appreciation for scrapbooking, and has become very talented with the sewing machine over the years. Karen is also a huge nerd, and loves things like Lord of the Rings and Star Trek. Captain Kirk is still, deep down, her celebrity crush.

Karen has always been stubborn and independent. She hates asking for help, and doesn't recognize when it's the smarter idea. It's ingrained into her that to be strong she has to do everything herself. She can't be weak. She has fought so hard to be where she is, she cannot be weak. She has difficulty even accepting help she didn't ask for. When she gets overwhelmed, she shuts down. She'll get back on her feet eventually, but it's rough and Karen typically doesn't learn from it. She's too focused on being the Strong Independent Mother she can be. Her husband's distance makes it worse, as she feels like she's done something to ruin his affections, rather than him being a dirtbag loser. She can be very self-sacrificial, throwing herself under the bus without stepping back and thinking, wait, was this really my fault? Or am I just trying to keep some sort of peace?

All in all, Karen is made of love. Her years of being a trainer, a coordinator, and a mother has shaped her into the kind of person she is, and while she's seen her fair share of horrors, she remains as idealistic and optimistic as ever. She has come to appreciate the beauty in all things big and small, and feels it very important to protect and cherish said beauty. There is beauty in others, and she wants to make sure everyone can see theirs. She believes in the beauty of humanity, and that in no matter the circumstances, anyone can rise above it and triumph.

History: You want a fair bit of detail, huh? Oh, I'll give you a fair bit of detail. FOURTY-ONE YEARS OF IT. *maniacal laughter.*

* Incredibly popular and looked up to within contest and coordinator circles.

282.gif

Nickname: Eowyn
Species: Gardevoir
Gender: Female

Appearance: Tall, taller than most gardevoir. Her "dress" has a bit longer train than most. Also, shiny!

Personality: Eowyn and her trainer have a lot in common. Both have an air of grace and elegance about them, but Eowyn's personality matches up a little more seamlessly. She's quiet, but it's mostly because she's always paying attention. She catches things her trainer doesn't. She is quite concerned about aesthetics, both in and out of a contest. Everything must be beautiful! She can be a little vain, and doesn't like getting dirty, but she'll follow Karen to the ends of the earth. The two are partners, bonded as trainer and pokemon. She was right beside Karen from Emily's birth to Brynn's, even when Clive wasn't. Loyalty is Eowyn's MO, as is tenacity and determination. (Although, she's the one who gets embarrassed by Karen's silliness. Secondhand embarrassment is a thing, y'all.) She and Tuffy are close friends, and she sees herself as Aura's pokemon mentor, or pokementor, if you will.

History: When Karen was eight years old, having proven to be good with pokemon, her parents decided to give her a pokemon of her own. She was given a mystery egg from her aunt to take care of on her own. Karen nursed the egg to hatching all on her own, and after the shower of sparkles subsided, a little Ralts with a blue cap was found curled up in her arms. The ralts was named Eowyn, after one of her favorite character from Lord of the Rings. The two were inseparable after that. Eowyn evolved into a Kirlia when Karen was in middle school, and into a full fledged Gardevoir shortly after Karen graduated high school. Karen's first contest was with Eowyn, and the two rose to contest stardom together. Eowyn helped Karen with all four pregnancies and births, and was essentially a second mother to the kids. (Brynn and Milo still call Eowyn mom, and Reese and Emily slip a mom out every now and then.) And of course, when Karen takes a vacation to Solaceon to explore, Eowyn is right beside her.

Moveset:
- Moonblast
- Magical Leaf
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball

Other: An incredibly decorated pokemon. The two have won countless contest ribbons together, though she never wears them. They're kept in a display case at home. Eowyn often acts as Karen's flashlight, holding a Moonblast to light the way.

447.gif

Nickname: Aura
Species: Riolu
Gender: Female

Appearance: A very young Riolu, so she's a little smaller than most. Electric turquoise eyes. (The best comparison I can think of is the blue from completed shrines and the Sheika slate from Breath of the Wild.)

Personality: Aura is a little skittish and a little shy. She's Karen's newest pokemon, and while she's been training hard, she still doesn't quite know the extent of her power. She's been known on occasion to have moves blow up in her face. She's quite nervous and self conscious about it. She's easily startled, much to the delight of Tuffy. But, she is determined. Though shy and nervous and afraid to make mistakes, she wants to be as great of a pokemon as Eowyn is. She wants to be able to be as confident as her mentors. Her excitable nature shows when she does something right, and she lets herself brighten and celebrate, before of course getting nervous about that. (She's a baby. Let her live.)

History: Aura is a few months shy of a year old. Her egg was rescued by a ranger team in Almia, and the leader knew exactly who should take care of it. She and Karen had first crossed paths years prior, and had become solid friends ever since. The leader called Karen and asked her to come to Almia and pick up a special egg, and Karen was on the first plane over. Taking care of an egg reminded her of raising Eowyn, and by now she has over thirty years of experience with pokemon. Aura hatched in a burst of blue light, and from the moment Karen opened her eyes she knew she'd be special. Her eyes were blue -- striking, piercing, electric, blue. Aura showed signs of incredible power right of the bat, but she wasn't exactly... good at it. Her own power startled her. Karen and Aura (along with the mentorship of Eowyn) have been training together, teaching Aura how to handle her power and use it effectively. This is Aura's first big real outing, and she's excited to prove herself... hopefully...

Moveset:
- Rock Smash
- Aura Sphere
- Dark Pulse
- Bulldoze

300.gif

Nickname: Tuffy
Species: Skitty
Gender: Female

Appearance: FLUFFY. Not exactly a long-haired Skitty, but just so damn fuzzy. Excellent to just shove your face into. It's like shoving your face into a cloud. She's very popular with the children for this reason. Her ear tufts are also a bit longer and softer. Since she's out adventuring, she wears pink booties on her feets. (Can't get those toe beans dirty, no ma'am.) She also wears a pink collar, with an elaborate contest ribbon attached to it.

Personality: Tuffy is adorable and she knows it. She flaunts it, even. Incredibly vain, she's not one for getting her fur messy. She likes looking clean and pristine at all times. She can be very uptight, and comes of a little standoffish, but underneath it all, she's actually a huge softie. She will melt at tummy rubs. She loves being scratched behind the ears. She loves Karen's kids, even when the young ones are being a nuisance. She loves attention, the spotlight, the red carpet. Tuffy prides herself on her work, and she's very dedicated to her contest craft. She has no interest in Karen's ruins whatsoever, but she comes along because she does love Karen, and it means going someplace new (even if it is dusty). She loves to party and have fun, and can be seen dancing with Karen. Tuffy is very close to Eowyn, and enjoys watching Aura grow up.

History: Tuffy came into Karen's life when Emily was 2. Tuffy had been abandoned as a kitten, and Karen happened to be in the shelter one day. The two locked eyes, and instantly Karen knew Tuffy had to come home with her. At that point, Tuffy was just Skitty. Karen had no idea what to name her new pokemon, but Em did. TUFFY! From the moment Skitty was brought home, Emily would refer to Skitty as Tuffy. Karen had absolutely no idea where it came from exactly, but it was cute, and it stuck. Tuffy was trained under Karen's contest team, and eventually became a star-studded contest pokemon herself. Her cute style and special egg move helped push her to the top. Tuffy hated Clive from the beginning, and while she would curl up to nearly anyone (including babies Milo to Brynn), she would refuse to curl up near Clive, instead hissing whenever he was around. She caught onto him first. She's happy to be here in Soleceon with Karen and Eowyn, two of her closest companions, and little Aura, the new baby. Much happier than being stuck at home, whatever's going on there...

Moveset:
- Covet
- Copycat
- Blizzard
- Assist

Other: While not nearly as decorated as Eowyn, still very decorated.

Other Notable Pokemon who Aren't With Her but May Be Referenced:
- Meridith the Rapidash
- Freya the Empoleon
- Layla the Ninetails
- Storm the Frosslass
- Jean the Espeon
And probably more, Karen has befriended a lot of pokemon over the past forty years.

To Chloe, appearances are near everything. Overly concerned with what others think of her hair and manner of dress, she treats every jog and shopping trip like a modelling tryout. If she doesn't look her best, she isn't leaving the house, period. This means that whenever you do see her, she's a polished sight; neatly done hair, hand-picked jewelry, flawless makeup and latest trends for clothes. All with her own little flair, so as to make sure no one overshadows her. Her exact choice of clothing changes daily, but by principle she dislikes long skirts or dresses, save for formal occasions or Pokémon Contests. For everything else, skirts or denim shorts are where it's at.

A little taller than average for her age, Chloe stands at 5'8''. Her budding contest career has kept her physically active throughout the years, lending her a slender build. She has large, blue eyes and flowing blonde locks that reach far past her waist. She often keeps her hair tied in some manner, well aware that it would get all over the place if let loose. She has a side cut, something she decided on a whim during a rebellious streak - along with a small butterfly tattoo on her left ankle. Her ears are pierced to allow for earrings, but though she's considered a naval piercing, she's afraid her mother would actually die of a heart attack if she did go through with it.

Chloe is very expressive, partly due to her past as a regular at Pokémon Contests. Though her usual expression is what she'd call 'cool indifference', it's not difficult to get a reaction out of her. And be that reaction an eye roll, an exasperated sigh or a gasp of joy, you can bet it's not difficult to notice. Most of the time, the exaggeration is deliberate - but sometimes it's more a reflex or a habit than a conscious decision. And that annoys her endlessly. As for first impressions, she isn't the easiest person to approach. Carrying herself with confidence and flair, she looks like the type of person who's ready to sass you out the second you open your mouth. But though that isn't entirely true, she doesn't mind the misconception.

Personality: Chloe does her best to come across as mature, confident and cool - an impression that rarely holds through long conversations. Appearances are important for her, as are the opinions of her peers. The opinions of adults, she doesn't care as much about - unless it's her father's. She will be just as friendly and nice to them as she is to everyone else though, and won't go out of her way to purposefully disobey or disrespect them either. However, they aren't spared from the occasional witty comment or sarcasm - particularly if she thinks they've said or done something stupid - or if she's riled for whatever reason, rare as that is.

Chloe is quick to jump to conclusions, and tends to judge people based on nothing but first impressions, even more so than people usually do. She's not unfriendly or mean though, and tends to keep whatever bad thoughts she may have to herself. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, after all. She's already hurt someone in the worst way possible, and the guilt of it has never left her. She's managed to push the thoughts away somewhat over the years, but has never truly let go of what happened. She doesn't want to let go, either. What kind of a monster would she be, if she forgave herself for such a thing? She's already struggling with the thought that she might, in fact, be a bad person. The least she can do to atone is suffer the guilt whenever it decides to surface.

Perhaps it's her past as a contest star, her deep-rooted paranoia, or just something that comes naturally as a part of being a teenager, but Chloe seems to think of herself as the center of the universe. It's not that she thinks she's better than everyone else, but that she thinks people pay far more attention to her than they actually do. Not every passerby is going to care about her new hairdo, not every police officer that approaches her is out to get her, and not every scolding she receives is borne out of any particular hatred towards her. In other words, she isn't in people's thoughts twenty-four-seven. But try telling that to her. She's the main character of the story of her life, and everyone else is just the supporting cast. This means that if she succeeds in something, she expects the entire world to care - and when she doesn't, she thinks it's the end of the world.

Whether it's due to the above or not, Chloe is very competitive. She won't take insults or challenges lying down, and always wants to get in the last word. She's spunky and competitive, and handles loss poorly. If she feels passionate about a topic, she's not afraid to speak her mind about it, whether she's actually qualified to do it or not. She's not one for shouting or arguments, though; she always tries to say her peace without insulting anyone in the process.

Speaking of things she's passionate about, most of the time you can tell whether a topic or situation is something she cares about or not with a glance. If a topic interests her, you can bet she will try to contribute to it every chance she can. Easily excitable, she will talk your ears off if given reason to. If the topic's boring, on the other hand, you can count on finding her on her phone instead, only offering the occasional smile or feigned interest if absolutely necessary. Actually, you can probably find her on her phone most of the time, if not actively engaged in conversation. Never try to peek at what she's doing, though. She's keeping a diary there, and absolutely will freak out if anyone else sees it.

History: Chloe was born to a wealthy couple in the heart of Lilycove City, Hoenn. Her mother was a hairdresser from a rich family, and her father a rugged archaeologist - an unlikely couple, by all means. At the time of her birth, Chloe's parents had been on the verge of a breakup many a time, but for the sake of their baby girl, they both vowed to try again. Their relationship remained turbulent, but they did their best to hide it from their daughter.

Growing up, Chloe was always a daddy's girl. She was curious and adventurous, and her father was good at making even the most mundane bone and fossil sound like the most exciting thing. He would often weave together stories of ancient Pokémon and lands, and Chloe would listen tirelessly until sleep stole her away. That was, until the carefully crafted patchwork that kept her parents together finally came undone. She was six at the time, too old to escape from the 'what', too young to understand the 'why'. She cried after her father a lot, especially when his visits became less and less frequent. Work took him far from Hoenn, and though he made sure to send letters whenever he could, it was never quite the same.

Eventually however, Chloe would find something to alleviate her sadness; a hobby, one that could one day turn into a potential career. It begun when her mother took her to see the Pokémon Contest championships held in the city one year. She was mesmerized by what she saw, by the elegance, the energy, the dresses and the colours. By the time the show was over, she was clinging to her mother's sleeve, asking her when she'd be able to do what they'd just seen.

She received her first Pokémon, a Snubbul, soon after. The two bonded quickly, and a few years later Chloe was standing on her first contest stage. Junior division, for ages ten and below. The contest scene was big and prosperous in the city, and after securing second place in her first ever competitive contest, Chloe's career was looking up. By the time she was in her preteens, she was part of a small group of girls taught by an ex contest star, Marissa Goldilocks. She was on top of her class, a future star, she was told. Everything was going perfect. Maybe, just maybe, if she got famous through a contest, her father would return to congratulate her too, maybe even be there for her next performance. Everything would be just like before, if only for a while.

And then she came along. Jasmine, a girl her age from Kalos, with a gorgeous Vulpix in tow. She was beautiful, charismatic, funny and friendly. She was perfect in every way, nice as can be to everyone, and Chloe hated her. Jasmine was a natural, or so they said, born for the stage. A big competition was coming up, and while many used to think it would be Chloe that represented her class and age group, they were no longer so sure.

But though Chloe hated her, she never did want things to end up the way they did.

It happened on a Friday afternoon, a day before the final tryouts. At 11 AM on Saturday, they were supposed to do individual performances for their coach to determine who would get to represent the group in the upcoming junior championships. Chloe and Jasmine were practicing on Route 121, in a clearing in a nearby forest. It was supposed to be Chloe's secret spot, but Jasmine had approached her with a smile and asked if she'd like to practice together - and to avoid looking unpleasant in front of her peers, she'd had little choice but to chime out an "of course!" She'd very soon regretted that decision. The longer the two had been practicing, the clearer the gap between their talents had become. At this rate, she'd have no choice against Jasmine in tomorrow's tryouts. If something drastic didn't happen, Jasmine would win.

Chloe's plan was borne out of a moment's desperation. She told Jasmine she would go fetch some flowers for her next act - the final one, before they had to head home, considering it was soon going to be dark out. Jasmine nodded, unaware. And so, Chloe left - but not to fetch flowers. Instead, she went straight home, leaving the other girl behind. She figured that if she wasn't there to show the way, it'd take Jasmine much longer to get home - meaning she'd have less of chance to rest up and prepare for tomorrow's tryout. She'd be tired, and not at one hundred percent come time for the performance. If Jasmine tried to pin it on her, she'd find an excuse. She'd make it seem like a misunderstanding. She'd figure something out. This was her only chance. She had to win.

And she did. The next day, Jasmine didn't show up to the tryouts at all, and Chloe was left without any major competition. She felt guilty - but also overjoyed. Jasmine would have other chances, she thought, the girl was sooo good that she could make it even if she missed one silly contest. She'd apologize to her tomorrow, buy her a coffee or something to make up for it. It'd be fine. Except... it wasn't really fine. Jasmine didn't show up to practice the next day - and for a good reason. Her mother had returned from her business trip to an empty house, and declared her missing.

Jasmine was missing.

The news spread like wildfire, and multiple search parties rushed out to search the city and its vicinity. Chloe was petrified. Had Jasmine never made it out of the forest? She should have, it wasn't that difficult a path! Like many others of her peers, she was asked if she knew where Jasmine could have disappeared to. She quickly shook her head. "I haven't seen her since Friday's practice," was the mantra she repeated over and over again until she almost believed it herself.

Maybe she should have just told the truth. If she had, maybe they'd found Jasmine sooner. Before the storm happened on Sunday evening, and before the mudslide washed her away. Maybe, when they found her, she'd still been alive. Maybe. Maybe. Or... maybe it wouldn't have made a difference at all, and she'd been disqualified from the contest and lost her reputation for nothing. Maybe. One thing was for sure, though; it was too late now. Too late to tell the truth and too late to save Jasmine. The contest was going to be held soon. She had to focus on that, and that alone. It meant everything to her. More than a human life? a guilt-ridden part of her would ask, every day until the big day, and she would play deaf every time.

She won. Everything went perfect. She even got a call from her father congratulating her and apologizing for not having been in contact more. Her mother was overjoyed. She was overjoyed. It was as if nothing was amiss at all. Or so Chloe told herself. And as months turned to years and life continued to be good for her, she slowly started to believe it.

But then, as Chloe turned sixteen, her mother found a new man. Chloe lover her mom, but she could not love the man that suddenly inserted himself into their life. Especially when it turned out he was a police officer. Old, forgotten fears flared all of a sudden. There was a police officer in the house. He must've been there to try and get a confession out of her. They must've been onto her - that's why he got together with her mom, too. It was all some elaborate ploy to catch a murderer. Because, because that's what she was, wasn't she, and now they'd catch her and she'd go to prison for the rest of her life.

It was in the middle of those sudden thoughts that she received a call from her father. He was travelling to Sinnoh after a famous archaeological site, and asked if she wanted to spend the summer vacation with him. She agreed as fast as she could.

Fears:

Herself
- She shouldn't have been happy to get the role. She shouldn't have even accepted it, not when she got it through such foul means. She should've told the truth sooner. She should've been more sad. But she didn't, and she wasn't. And she fears that if given the choice, she still would not change a thing.

Losing her father - There's more than one way to lose someone. What if he knew? He couldn't still love her if he did. Or what if he forgets her? She almost forgot him once, at the height of her success. What if work takes him away, or what if fate punishes him for her actions, or what if he gets another daughter - a better one? One that's a good person. She doesn't want that.

Her stepfather / the police - He's out to get her, she knows. They all are. The police must know, or at the very least suspect her. They're onto her. They're gonna arrest her, and she's going to go to jail like a murderer! She knows.

The dark - There isn't really any deep, dark reason as to why she fears it; she just does. Maybe it's the darkness itself, maybe it's the things that could lurk there, or maybe it's the thoughts that begin to haunt her whenever she's alone in the dark. She doesn't know. She doesn't want to know.

snubbull.gif

Nickname: Snugglebum
Species: Snubbul
Gender: Female

Appearance:
n/a

Personality: Don't let the silly, cutesy name fool you - Snugglebum is as tough as they come. She's ill-tempered, loud and violent, prone to barking and lashing out at people and situations she doesn't like. She does listen to Chloe however, and can be calmed down with only a few choice words from her. Treats help, as well; she's particularly keen on sweet things and can eat a lot when given free reign. Often, her first reaction at everything new (whether she perceives the new thing as positive or negative) is to take a bite outta it. She seems to favour interacting with girls, and enjoys being petted by them. Guys? Keep your hand away if you want to keep it. Her distaste might have something to do with her jealousy; she doesn't like males being close to her trainer, period.

History: Given to Chloe when she was young. Ever since then, Snugglebum has been a friend to her, and the two share a close bond. She has done some battling here and there, and would have been ready to evolve long had Chloe not wished her to stay smaller and adorable. With that said, she is still more a pet than a fighter - though her viciousness might make you think otherwise.

bisharp.gif

Nickname: Oathsworn, "Oath"
Species: Bisharp
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Oathsworn's metallic armor has a few scratches and dents here and there from past fights, and he has a bit 'worn' look to him in general. Otherwise he's like any other Bisharp.

Personality: Silent, stern and protective - those are the cornerstones that make up this metal type. He's immensely loyal to his family and whomever his master or protege consider as friends, and is not afraid to throw himself in harm's way if need be for them. He's courageous and dependable, but not really one for conversation or casual company; he very rarely speaks, even in his Pokémon tongue, and prefers not to partake in most conversations or activities. Give him a job, though, and he will see to its completion. He mistrusts strangers easily, and can be violent if he perceives Chloe to be in danger.

History: Oathsworn is actually Chloe's father's Pokémon, one he left with her at the hotel before leaving. He caught him long ago as a Pawniard, and the two have been friends and colleagues ever since. Oathsworn is a very experienced fighter, having taken part in many a tournament and skirmish with wild Pokémon and trained ones alike. In her father's absence, he now acts as a somewhat of a guardian for her.

Moveset:

Other:
His nickname stems from Chloe's father being far too invested in medieval fantasy. Chloe finds the name corny and embarrassing, and often just calls him Oath. He doesn't mind either way.

amaura.gif

Nickname: Aurora
Species: Amaura
Gender: Female

Appearance:
A little smaller than your average Amaura, owing to her young age.

Personality: Curious and excitable, Aurora is excited about the world and everything it has to offer. She rarely sits still if there's new things to see or do in her vicinity, and can get fidgety if she's not allowed to roam freely. She's very affectionate and very kind, if naive and ignorant of the workings of the world. While optimistic and trusting by nature, her primal instincts do sometimes flare and make her flighty. Sudden noises or threatening strangers are quick to trigger her flight reflex and make her seek shelter behind Chloe's legs, for example. Offer her a few kind words or treats though, and she's quick to recover from her startlement and start to curiously peer at her next adventure.

History: Chloe's father found Aurora as a fossil, subsequently reviving her along with a few other specimens. Chloe fell in love with the ice type at first sight, and her father ended up giving Aurora to her as a birthday present a few months later. She has minimal battling experience, having mostly only done friendly spars with Snugglebum.
