“In my restless dreams,
I see that town…”
It’s high summer – the peak of the tourist season – and Sinnoh is teeming with places for people to visit both old and new. For thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies there are the icy hills of Snowpoint that boast the best skiing resorts around. Gamblers and shopaholics flock to Veilstone for fun at the casino and the Veilstone Department Store, while those wanting a more coastal experience can go off to Sunyshore for sun, surf and sand
But if one was to travel to the east they’d stumble across a seemingly plain town just a stone’s throw away from the splendid city of Hearthome. This place is called Solaceon – “a town free of worry!” according to the signs welcoming tourists and travellers alike. Built around vast arable fields and ranches, Solaceon is a much sleepier place that most tourists tend to miss or disregard. It’s a hotspot for archaeologists and ruin maniacs, thanks to the ruins discovered to the east of town just over a hundred years ago, and it isn’t uncommon for people wearing hiking gear and digging implements to be seen on the streets. It might not be as glamorous as the cities or as eloquent as the lakes, but it is still a thriving location on its own merits.
And that’s where you come in. You don’t know what made you select Solaceon for your vacation this year, but as you checked out holiday brochures or browsed the web for good locations Solaceon just seemed to make sense. As if it was calling to you, somehow. With everything settled and your holiday booked, you’ve made the journey to the drowsy little town, hoping to get some rest, relaxation and enjoyment. Your first day was a nice one, having checked out some of the more historically important ranches and sampled some of the homely food available; you go to bed happy and content. You intend to check out the ruins tomorrow and you’re sure it will be just as enjoyable as today was.
But when you wake up you notice that something has changed. It isn’t all that noticeable at first, but as you come to your senses you realise that the town looks… different. Once a dusty, docile place with easy-going people and pokemon, the Solaceon you’ve woken up in is a mirror opposite. Cold, damp and silent, there isn’t a single person to be seen on the streets and a thick fog has rolled in, swallowing up most of the town in a silvery haze. It also appears to be snowing too, despite the fact that it’s the middle of summer, and overall the whole place feels forlorn and empty.
And when you focus for long enough, you swear you keep seeing odd-looking figures moving about in the fog.
The Campaign
Your task is quite simple – find a way to get out of Solaceon or die trying, as well as piece together what exactly caused this change to happen. You can work together or on your own, it does not matter how you choose to play your character.
But be aware that your time is limited. While the creatures lurking in the fog are troublesome they won’t be nearly as easy to deal with once the change into the Otherworld starts. Heralded with what could be described as a WWII air raid siren, everything will start to go dark and soon after that all hell will break loose… literally. You may find yourself in a position where you must defend yourself, but it is a much better idea to take cover somewhere until the Otherworld shifts back.
Good luck. You’re gonna need it, believe me.
History & Fears
Now here’s where things are going to get interesting.
Monsters in the Silent Hill franchise usually represent something that a victim has experienced or feared in their past and it is no different for this roleplay. I will be taking special note of the histories you create for your characters – rather than making monsters for the roleplay, I will be making monsters based around your characters. This is also where fears come in – a brief list will just give me some extra stuff to add if needs be.
The same can be said for when the Otherworld shifts into an even more hellish nightmare – it will grow and change according to your characters’ psyche, history and fears. There are countless possibilities of what this could do to the setting – we could end up in the rusted, bloody hellscape from the first game, or perhaps the frozen meat-locker-esque nightmare that Eddie Dombrowski suffered. The sky is the limit!
One other thing that will be influenced by your character will be puzzles. A Silent Hill RP without puzzles would be like pokemon without… well… pokemon in them. Once in a while your characters will come across a puzzle they must solve to access certain areas or obtain certain items, though they won’t be as frequent as monster encounters.
Pokemon
Pokemon in this roleplay are your literal lifeline in this RP. They will act as your main defence and offence during your time in the Otherworld. They will not be quite as vulnerable as you are – they’re creatures that beat each other up in battle, after all – but should your pokemon faint you will be unable to call it out of its pokeball until you either take it to the Solaceon pokemon centre or use a Revive (which won’t be easy to come by). Take care of your partner’s – they’re worth their weight in gold now.
You will be allowed a maximum of 3 pokemon in your party, and only one of them can be fully evolved for the sake of balance and challenge. In addition to this you may also have up to 2 healing items for pokemon in your inventory at the start.
I’m going to be fairly lax about what you can and can’t have on your team. The exceptions are of course legendary pokemon and megas. Anything else is fair game. If you have any questions regarding what you want for your team, let me know – I don’t bite!
Weapons
Being in a world filled with magical creatures that are clearly more useful than, say, a handgun or a Taser means that most people will not have weapons on their possession. But that does not mean to say that no weapons will be allowed at all. In fact certain items your character might have can become weapons in the future, such as monkey wrenches or pen knives. Weapons will also be made available to you as you explore Solaceon as I, the GM, see fit.
You may also start out with a small weapon if you’d like, but nothing bigger than a chef’s knife. This is a survival horror RP after all. And no, none of the sillier weapons that can be unlocked after getting certain endings at the end of each Silent Hill game will be allowed.
Physical/Mental Health
Being a survival RP, a lot of your focus will be on keeping your character alive. There are two kinds of health you will need to take care of - physical and mental. These things will either increase or decrease depending on your actions.
Physical statuses:
Healthy – Completely healthy. No injuries have been sustained.
Fine – Minor wounds sustained, however injuries have no effect on body.
Caution – Moderate wounds sustained. Movement, speed and reaction times will be slowed slightly until wounds have been taken care of.
Danger – Severe wounds sustained, immediate medical treatment is needed. Movement, speed and reaction times will be slowed down immensely.
Dead – You’re dead. That’s it. The end.
Your physical health can be brought back up to healthy by using healing items that you’d typically find from first aid kits or items found in pharmacies. You can start out with up to two different healing items in your inventory, and others can be found around Solaceon if needed.
Mental statuses:
Calm – You have a firm grip on reality. Everything is fine.
Uneasy – You’re a little bit on edge, which makes sense considering your situation.
Scared – You will most likely enter this mode when you encounter something unpleasant. Your accuracy will be lowered slightly. There is also a slim chance that you’ll start hallucinating things that maybe don’t exist.
Panicked – You’re losing it quite badly. Accuracy is severely reduced however your speed will increase. Hallucinations will be much more frequent and your sanity will start to drop (see below).
When the roleplay starts everyone’s sanity will be at 100%, but as things progress and your characters experience more and more disturbing things this meter will start to drop. After it drops past a certain point you’re going to start losing your grip on reality. Your character will start to hallucinate, and before long you will start to go insane. Performing certain acts can bring your sanity back up, such as talking to other players or interacting with your pokemon.
Should your sanity drop to zero… well… I’ll be keeping that as a rather nasty surprise. Try not to think about it too much if you can.
About the Rating
It’s a Silent Hill RP. Of course there’s gonna be some f’ed up stuff here, it’s par for the course. But I will produce a list of the sort of topics that will be brought up:
* Violence/Gore (mostly violence)
* Sexual Themes
* Themes of Physical/Mental Abuse
* Depression
* Themes of Addiction
* Horror Themes
If you can’t handle these things, then you’re probably not gonna want to take part in this RP. Sorry.
About the RP
I’ll get to the point – this RP is geared towards more mature and experienced RPers. As with most of my RPs I am willing to make exceptions should you wish to join and be relatively new to RPing. I don’t intend for this to be a very long RP either, so spaces are going to be limited. However, if there is enough interest I will consider extending the amount of players from 6 to however many places needed.
* All serebiiforum RP rules apply.

Name: Agatha Pridmore
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: Broad and well built, Agatha is quite fit for someone of her age. She stands at around 5’5” and her muscles are toned thanks to her general lifestyle in Hoenn. She has olive skin that is covered in pale scars and scratches from exploring the areas around the archaeological sites her father worked at, the most prominent of which tapers up her right leg. She has mid-length chocolate brown hair and hazel eyes that can come across as quite piercing depending on the expression she’s wearing. Her general features are quite sharp and her standard expression usually involves either frowning or furrowing her brow – as if she is deep in thought or something particularly troublesome is bothering her.
Agatha’s general attire is quite relaxed when compared to her general demeanour. She likes to wear clothes that are comfortable, but still make her at least a little presentable whenever she goes to college. Her favourite outfit involves a black and white striped shirt and jet-black trousers that are relatively torn and scuffed in places from being worn so much. She is usually seen wearing a worn out brown leather jacket too that smells faintly of her father’s cologne and only ever takes it off when it is way too hot to be wearing such a thing.
Personality: Agatha is quite a reserved person and that is mostly due to her mantra being not to interact with other people unless it is absolutely necessary. She comes off as very stern and direct – even blunt at times – and doesn’t like to sugar-coat anything she says. Agatha prefers to stay on her own unless a situation forces her to work with others, and even then she only says the absolute minimum. As a result a lot of people tend to think of her as rude or aloof and this has resulted in her not having very many friends. She’s the exact opposite with pokemon – Agatha adores them and will almost immediately become open and friendly to them as if she’s known them her whole life.
Those who eventually manage to get past her cold exterior discover that she’s actually quite a thoughtful and sympathetic person. The friends that she does make that are human are kept very close to her heart and she’ll do anything to protect those she cares about. That being said she can be overprotective at times, but she means well and her motives are usually in the right place. Agatha is quite diligent about the tasks that she’s been set – no matter how mundane or uninteresting it is, she will more than likely stick to it until the job is finished – even if that means working late into the night and losing out on sleep in the process. This mind-set also allows Agatha to find unique ways of approaching problems that others wouldn’t think of. She tends to mull over her duties too – worrying if she has done a good enough job even though others think that she’s done much more than she actually believes she has.
History: Originally from Hoenn, Agatha was born to a loving couple in Fortree who cared for her as much as any good parents would. She also had a godfather who lived in Rustboro, working for the Devon Corporation as part of a team that was inventing a new model of a machine that could revive newly discovered prehistoric pokemon. He would come and visit his godchild and her family whenever time allowed it, and kept in touch with her family as much as he could. This changed when the hurricane occurred, though. Hoenn was well-known for storms but none were quite as severe as the one that practically levelled Fortree to the ground. Agatha was six months old at the time and miraculously survived the hurricane thanks to the intuition of her mother, who had placed her securely in a closet just before the hurricane passed through. The same could not be said for her parents – their bodies were found amongst the wreckage and there was nothing the paramedics could do to revive them.
Her godfather was absolutely devastated by the loss of Agatha’s parents, but was more than happy to adopt her as his own. Once the legalities had been sorted out he took her to live in Rustboro with him, and while it took a while for the wounds to heal and the dust to settle the both of them had happy lives together. As time passed Agatha became very interested in fossil pokemon and would constantly ask her adoptive father about the machine he was working on, hoping to see it in action when it finally worked. Her wish came true in 2002, where she got to see a pokemon being brought back to life at the age of seven – and this sparked her interest in science and technology – a path that would eventually lead Agatha to going to college in Goldenrod to become a pokemon professor.
Just over two years have passed since Agatha went to Johto to start her degree – and now that the university has broken up for the summer she’s decided to join her father on a vacation to the Sinnoh region. But while looking for prime vacation spots online Agatha stumbled across a quieter location known as Solaceon. She couldn’t explain why, but a sudden wave of desire washed over her body as she read details about the little town. She really, really wanted to go there – and her father, despite his surprise over her decision, decided that they’d spend a week of their vacation in Solaceon before moving onto Veilstone just beyond.
Fears:
* Storms – Agatha remembers very little about her real parents, but she does recall the violent hurricane that took them from her. She tends to stay indoors when there’s a storm, but will put on a brave face so that others don’t pick up on her worries.
* Heights – While she’s fine with stable buildings like the Devon Corporation Agatha finds it extremely hard to cross things like rickety bridges or staircases that have see-through steps. This is also a result of what happened to her as a baby.
Other:
* Agatha likes other ladies and has been like this since childhood. She hasn’t told anybody about her preferences, though.
Starting Inventory:
* x1 Bandage
* x1 Super Potion
* x1 Candy Bar (bought from a gas station on her journey to Solaceon)
* x1 Revive
* x1 Wallet (contains money, ID cards, and a photograph of herself, her father and their pokemon)
* x1 Laptop (used for essays and browsing the web)

History: Agatha received Adan as a birthday gift from her father. Seeing as she was beginning to study starter pokemon he felt it would be a good idea to get her one to help with her course. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was for the egg he got from a breeder in Hoenn to hatch into a treecko that was teal and red instead of green and pink.

Other:
* Adan loves peanut butter and will do whatever he can to get some.
