Japanese Title: "Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi"
English Title: "Spirited Away"

Air Date: Friday, February 3rd at 7:00pm on Cartoon Network
Encore performance late Friday / early Saturday at 12:30am

After having already aired on Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network gets the chance to air Spirited Away, the Academy Award-winning film by director Miyazaki Hayao. Here's what Anime News Network has to say about the film:

On their way to their new home, a young girl, Chihiro, and her parents stumble into what appears to be an abandoned theme park. But all is not as it seems, as the theme park is a resort for the gods, and not a place where humans are welcome. Chihiro must fend for herself and rescue her parents, as they have been turned to pigs as punishment for eating the food meant for the gods.

Apparently, Miyazaki is very strict when it comes to the broadcast of his films and doesn't allow broadcasters to edit them in any way. So expect to see the film run uncut.

Well there isn't really anything that needs to be cut in any Miyazki movie (or the ones I've seen).

Anyways, I heard this was one of his best movies. I've been watching all of his movies on TCM latelly (though I did miss Spirited Away), such as Porco Rosso and My Neighborhood Totoro, and I've been loving each one of them, so I expect Spirited Away to be the same and I'll probably love it.

Princess Mononoke has a lot of blood that'll probably push the movie's rating to a TV-14.

As for Spirited Away being one of his best? Eh...that's debatable...

Yay, I'm so excited about the premiere of this movie, I've been wanting to see Spirited Away for about a year now and haven't ever had the chance. Hopefully, I won't forget about it tomorrow. I've heard that Miyazaki's other movies are really awesome....so I know this one is going to be GREAT. ^_^

I was actually thinking about starting a thread about this movie early this week.

Well, there couldn't be that much to edit, otherwise I don't see why they'd allow it on a very young kid-oriented place like CN's Fridays.

Anyway, I've also heard good things about Miyazaki's movies, so this should be pretty good.

Ah, I saw all of the Miyazaki films on TCM, save Princess Mononoke. (Loved the commercial free broadcast, and the chance to watch the movies in Japanese if I fancied)

I did enjoy this movie. It had beautiful art, resounding music and memorable characters. I wouldn't way it's his best, though; I still prefer Porco Rosso and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Ah yes, those two are great movies.

Another one of my favorites is Pom Poko (I think that's what it was called). It didn't really seem that popular, as I never heard of the movie until I watched it on TCM, but I thought it was great. Strangely, it made me respect animals and nature more, even when it was pure fiction. I didn't see the Japanese version with subs, unfortunatlly. :<

Ive seen sprited away before. It was awsome. Real good story line and voice acting. I havent seen it in awhjile though.
Totoro was made by the same person? Surprising, because my entire Japanese class got the vibe that the writer of Totoro was high at the time

Maybe he should cut out the middleman and start his own dubbing company?
I know I'd shell out some serious bank if I was guaranteed (by a reputable source) a series was completely unedited.

I've seen this movie before, and I loved it. I'll try to watch it tomorrow. ^_^ But I think I'll miss it. I have something to do tomorrow.

Clearly we're great!
I saw it today on Toon Disney.

Is Chihiro dubbed by the same gal who does the voice of Lilo? And was Lin/Rin Meg from Hercules?

For that matter, is it Lin or is it Rin? The captions spelled it with an R, but they pronounced it with an L.

I watched the original version many times before!

I really love this anime, and I'm looking forward on watching it dubbed ^__^

I really hate the Fridays announcers on Cartoon Network. You'd think that Cartoon Network would realize that the kind of people who'd watch the movie wouldn't be the same type of people who would find these retarded bumps funny, but I guess they do.

And Blackjack, I think it is "Rin," but it is easy to confuse since l and r are in the same family, linguistically.

I know she does Lilo, and I'm pretty sure she's Rin, too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NO!
In fact the voice of Chiriro is the same voice as Lilo. Also one other voice (forgot which character) is John Ratzenburger (same guy who does Made in America on Travel Channel).

Her name is Daveigh Chase, Just for yer info. ;D
She also played Samara Morgan in The Ring.
Well, Totoro had "nudity" in it, although the Japanese really have no concern for the kind of nudity that was presented.
But, nonetheless, I''m going to watch the latter presentation.
