I hope there isn't a thread like this( I couldn't find one).

Right now I started a new Firered file, just to capture the legendaries and to trade them to my emerald version. I usually dont use them to fight with, but they'r after all somekinda special to me. I also reset til I get a good nature for the legendary, even though they are not so easy to catch.

And here is my question: How do you catch your legendary? Do you have a special way/strategy? Do you reset til you get the right nature? or even a shiny?!

Me, I want a good nature, but with the ones, wich appearance u cant control(legendary dogs, latios/latias) I dont really care about nature. I am satisfied if they appear..;)
To capture them I carry a Batonpassing Mr. Mime and Butterfree with a "spore-like" sleeppowder(compound eyes ability). So I can built an unbreakable defense/spd, block status conditions with sub and pass it to butterfree who puts the legendary to sleep.

now u, tell me about your opinion with catching legendaries.

Well... I'll weaken them with my Nidoqueen cas I trained her for great defense. Then I'll put them to sleep with my Poliwrath's hypnosis. Then I'll just chuck a number of great balls at em. Because in my experience, I find great balls to be more effective than Ultra balls, and they r half the price!

Well, paralising the legendary is especially useful. Its the best status problem to give it because the others might kill it with the steady HP loss and its perminent (unlike sleep). The best thing to do is buy a ton of balls to throw at it, go to the legendary. Have your pokemon team know thunder wave and a sleeping move. Also false swipe is useful. Then go on from there. Luck is probably the most important thing but you can't change that. So good luck.

...Anyway this topic has served its purpose and you got peoples opinions and nobody else is probably going to post here so... topic should now be closed.

Sorry, but that's my decision, not yours. I'm going to leave this open so people can continue to discuss their best ways of capturing legendaries. Not every thread has one definitive answer.

what I do is that I keep on hitting them until their HP is low then make them sleep and start using ultra balls and if they awake I make them sleep again and so on.

when im about to face a legndary i Always Carry 30 Ultra Balls. When im Facing The Legendary I Always Start With My Tyranitar
If Its A Weak Pokemon I Use My DRagonite , And I Usaly Start With The Move Thunder(Dragonite) or Earthquacke(tyranitar) Then After The First Move Their Probably Almost Dead Or Paralyzed So Then I Keep Whipping Ultra Balls. It Should Only Take about 8 Ultra Balls But You Never Know So Carry Extars. I Would Only You Rock & Normal For Capturing Legendarys.

Excuse me sir, you have been just lucky with great balls. I can tell you I find pokeballs VERY EFFECTIVE. 1/6 of the price of an ultraball and it works fine for its price, I caught a abra with pokeball and my friend had to use ultraball[SARCASM]
When I catch legendaries, I use a master ball I prepared on my other file, so I can check natures easily and reset if necessary.

All I really do is first send out a solid Pokemon that has types that can counter the moves of the legendary. It's moves will usually be super effective, but not too powerful. If/After it faints, I will begin sending Pokemon not as effective so as to put it in very low health without worrying about knocking it out. If/After three more Pokemon faint I again send out a super effectve Pokemon with the strength to take a lot of hits, and with this guy I will only throw Ultra Balls. If/After it faints, I still have a weaker Pokemon to "sacrifice" a move so I can use a Revive on my super effective Pokemon. It almost always works.

I always get a pokémon that knows Thunder Wave or Sleep Powder or like these and one pokémon with False Swipe, then let it with one HP and paralyze/put to sleep it and throw balls in the opponent.
Articuno-Greatball
Zapdos-Ultraball
Moltres-Pokéball
I usually do this because thay match colours with the ball.

Well, I usually capture Zapdos, Moltres & Articuno with an ultraball. Sometimes with greatball.

Mewtwo requires an ultraball mostly. And I save Masterball for Deoxys ;)

For me, master ball is useless. I never use it. Good that in advanced games we can't sell it because in GSC you can sell it for 0000$.
