Caterpie VS Wurmple

Well let's see, Caterpie has Tackle and String Shot, and Wurmple has that plus Poison Sting. Poison Sting (with the lack of attack power between the two pokemon) would have good chance to poison Caterpie and thus making Caterpie lose all of it's HP. Thus, Wurmple would win.

I like the both of them. They both evolve to a beautiful form... ^^ But, one thing that Caterpie doesn't have is another evolution like Wurmple. Wurmple can evolve into a Dustox or Beatifly. Also, Wurmple can learn "Poison Sting" which is a bit stronger than any other moves Caterpie has. I still like the both of them, but Wurmple is a bit stronger IMO. ^^;

Wurmple is just a copy of Caterpie, really. Except that it's poisonous and it has a divergent evolution. But whatever, I still vote Caterpie.

Wurmple poisons with poison sting, then damages with tackle. If necessary, slows caterpie with string shot so it goes first. With pokemon that weak, the poison is gonna be more damaging then the damage missed by using poison sting over tackle at first.

So wurmple wins. It's obvious.

Tackle:35 power, 95% accuracy. Poison Sting:15 power, 100% accuracy.
Caterpie base stats: ATK-30 DEF-35 Wurmple base stats: ATK-45 DEF-35

Caterpie has the more powerful attack(slightly lower accuracy aside), but Wurmple has greater ATK. Wurmple can Poison things, BUT Caterpie has Shield Dust, so Poison Sting cannot Poison it, making that a non-factor. A brief run of the damage calculator says...
Caterpie does between 8 and 10 percent damage per turn, and Wurmple does 5% damage each turn. Therefore, Caterpie wins.

...I really need other things to do if I calculate things like that for silly polls about unevolved bugs. ;_;

Well...Wurmple is basically the love child of Caterpie and Weedle. It has all their moves, and two evolutions. However, it's an ugly looking bug compared to Caterpie, and I don't care much for Beautifly or Dustox. So Caterpie gets my vote, since Weedle isn't votable here.

Well, just as I was proven wrong, Caterpie is safely Shield Dusted from being Poison.
