*rubs temples* ... and not a thread goes by without somebody saying that Gyarados should be Water/Dragon. Just as well I like him and like typing this up all the time...

Magikarp and Gyarados are based on an ages old Japanese tale. The tale features a weak and defenceless carp... yes, just like Magikarp... prove that he has some strangth and will in him by scaling a waterfall. This was watched by the Gods, who rewarded this carp by turning him into a flying serpent... just like Gyarados.

Now just a few more pointers. I'm well aware that Gyarados cannot learn flying moves. However the serpent that he was based on could very easily. Plus the serpent in the myth abused his new found power by destroying nearby cities... hence why Gyarados's movepool is packed more with destructive, high powered moves like Fire Blast and Hyper Beam.

So you may not know of mythology and will probably never read it. However I know and do, the tale exists and that tale was what inspired Magikarp and more importantly, Gyarados. He isn't going to change his type... and for the record, in Japan and China their serpents do look like Gyarados. Their dragons always have legs.

The Plot Thickens
Manaphy should be Water/Psychic, and i wish they never changed magnemite and magneton's type from elec to elec/steel.

Lugia should be Water/Flying
Groudon should be Ground/Fire
Solrock should be Fire/Psychic
Porygon line should be electric normal

posibly weavile straight dark maybe hes just to weak to fighting with ice dark
Won't happen.

Like my darling Sneasel, Weavile is based on the Japanese Legend of the Kamaitachi, which translates literally as "sickle weasels". They are dark, mysterious and sinister creatures who when not tracking down victims and cutting them with razor sharp precision and speed, live their lives in cold, icy areas. So that's where the Sharp Claws get the Ice part of their typing from, the habitat of the Kamaitachi.

Vycksta, you are definetly helping us with which pokemon should stay with thier types, due to what they are based on.

Back on topic, Sudowoodo/Bonsly should be part grass,and Misdrevus should be part dark.

Thanks? ^^;

What people have to realize is that being Pokemon is originated from Japan they can easily base Pokemon from their myths. People may not of heard of them but that's how it goes... it's definitely the case with Magikarp/Gyarados and Sneasel/Weavile.
