Looks like DougJustDoug released the May statistics for the Smogon Server.

It seems that Lucario and Rotom-Cut Forme rose in useage, Rotom on the dramatic part, a whooping 10 places! Now check these spefcic stats out (Aprill first, May second):

    | 40 | Heracross | 27628 | 4.73 |
    | 44 | Heracross | 28924 | 4.27 |

If this continues, we may see Heracross in UU/BL before long.

    | 180 | Regigigas | 1003 | 0.17 |
    | 166 | Regigigas | 1948 | 0.29 |

TBH, I'm not the source of this. I used Regigigas a lot, but not that much.

Dialga and Palkia seem to be steadily rising in useage, both have gone up by one rank, with Dialga going up over 1000 uses! I'm quite surprised to be honest.

It appears that Crobat is growing very popular in UU, rising a whopping 7 places. Oddly enough, Moltres rose nine place in UU as well, from 31 to 22. On the negative side of things, Blaziken is declining in useage.

I'm surprised to see Garchomp so high up on the suspect ladder to be honest, I really thought Skymin or Latios would take that spot.

    Discuss, you maggots.

    Unideal Why I don't survive

Garchomp was really the most hyped up ban as far as I can tell. Even now I still see people going on about it. Latios and Manaphy are newer to the game, but I think people'd be more interested in trying out the OU that became Uber.

    IT'S ALIVE!!!

I see what you mean, especially with the 10,000+ Garchomp for OU threads posts scattered across the Internet.

    Also, for lulz:

    |376|Nidoran-Male|14|0.00|
    |477|Nidoran-Male|1|0.00|

I don't think a bigger drop in list number is on there, for any tier. XD

  4. Excitable Boy

Not to mention his insanely high usage. Honestly, he's on over 2/3rds of all teams.

  5. cloudk

    cloudk hates you.

Salamence's usage dropped quite a lot with the introduction of Garchomp, too.
Didn't expect Bronzong in the top 10 on the suspect ladder.

  6. Reno

    Reno so adorable...

Steel types will always be up there. Bronzong just provides a load of amazing resists in suspect.

Shaymin-S, Garchomp, Latios and Latias are all mostly taken out by Bronzong.

So what do you people think is the thing that pushed Umbreon up to OU?

I honestly have no idea, the top 8 can take it easily. Random Quantum fluctuations, perhaps?

In all honesty, I would assume some kind of switch towards the special side of the spectrum, as Umbreon isn't taking physical hits. That said, I don't see people would use Specially Defensive Umbreon over Specially Defensive Vaporeon other than Zapdos, or that people only use Defensive Vaporeon by convention?

Latias counter is what I've heard, and seems sorta likely to me.

Though plenty of other stuff can do that without getting ripped to pieces by Fighting sweepers.

Well perhaps it's the most logical reason, simply becos with it's high base S-Def and stab dark attacks, it makes a decent counter to the speced Latias variant. With either pursuit or sucker-punch it is more than capable of of taking out Latias with minimal damage being caused when predicted correctly.

Since HP fire seems to be getting more popular on Latias now, it only strenghens it's cause as a Latias counter.

But some interesting facts about the above information, on the standard sets, if predicted correctly Umbreon will still only 2hko latias when manufacturing SR damage. but then, even a speced DM from Latias will only do roughly 50% damage to umbreon. But I see no way how Umbreon can handle the reflect or CM variant :/

Yes, it doesn't seem very solid to be. Say it switches in and takes 30% from Latias (at best) it then has two choices, Payback or Wish. Both of them give an entirly free switchin to something such as Machamp, Infernape, Heracross even, I guess. There's a reason that nobody ever used Umbreon =P It's waaay too easy to set up on.

Well, what do you expect from something with base 65/60 attacking stats?

On another note, new stats ahoy!

People always seem to forget the power of a dry Baton Pass. Bulky enough to take hits, can provide wish support, good status absorber because of synchronize, and the ability to dry Baton Pass to a counter are the things that make Umbreon useful. There are other pokes that can do these things but I can't think of one that does them all.

Why does everyone treat Smeargle, like he isn't there :C

If you notice I talked about synchronize being a great abibilty to absorb status with. That is something that Smeargle can't do. Actually, a SDef Umbreon with Baton Pass, Wish, Protect paired with a Cleric could be a very good poke to bounce status back with while still being able to support the team in other ways.

Plus, Umbreon can take a hit without rolling over and dying.

Not from the top 8, it can't ;)

  19. Okay, more about the tier changes...

I can understand why Dugtrio got bumpped out of OU. I honestly don;t know who's ideal to put it there to start with were, but anywys, why was Donphan placed into UU? I have one that works wonderfully for me on my OU team. Is't he sort of too beastly or the likes of UU?

  20. hobby

    hobby Well-Known Member

Well for one, Donphan sees relatively low levels of usage and if it is indeed too beastly for UU he will get bumped up to BL, this is something that many people have seen coming for a while really...
