• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Character Customization Discussion Thread

It would be nice if we could create our character at the start of the game. It would be nice to start off with a more unique appearance.

I honestly wouldn't need to do any further customization if I can just create my character from the ground up at the very beginning.

Hopefully cargo pants and hoodies are available. SM felt more limiting than XY in the customization department. I'd like us to get specific "kinds" of pants/shirts/etc and just be able to color it how we'd like, instead of having to purchase a similar article of clothing numerous time to have access to different colors of it.

This is actually why I don't want too many customization options available at the start of the game. Saving up for clothes and working to gain access to different customization options is the fun part of having customization.

Not for me.

It means spending the majority of the game with a look I don't like. In almost every playthrough of X&Y and Sun & Moon, it took most of the game for me to get the outfit I wanted. I'd rather just get the look I want right out the gate and get additional clothes later.

I hope they bring back the suit trousers as part of the customization, especially if they cover up your ankles. Like they did in Pokémon X and Y. The suit would be perfect for the Galar region if it's based on the UK as there are events in the UK that require you to wear a smart suit like Lady's Day at the Horse races.

As always, my dream is to have the possibility to wear clothes of famous trainer.
Either way, I'm expecting heavy clothes too.
Yeah. Warmer clothes are pretty much expected considering the UK's climate.

It's been officially confirmed through a Japanese design competition that character customization is indeed returning.

Wow. How do you think this will effect things? Will it still be in the game or will they choose another one?
Remains to be seen, but I'd hazard a guess that if they feel this is a serious enough infraction to warrant disqualification they'll probably go with the runner up. I personally wouldn't overly mind this, as the current design just doesn't appeal to me at all. I appreciate the artistic effort that went into it, but I'm not a fan.

Hell, why limit it to just one fan-created outfit? It wouldn't be that difficult to stick a dozen or so in the game, and not all of them need to be made into real merchandise.

Looking at the prerelease screenshot of the girl character wearing the alt clothes, it looks like the pic might be taken at the time in the game where she is stepping out of the house for the first time. If this is true, then it suggests at least some amount of customization options available right at the start of the game...

...and I don't like it. I would only be okay with this if the start-of-the-game options are greatly limited, and most clothes are still required to be purchased at shops.

They'll probably just let you have the special outfit at the start, hopefully with hat removal being optional. It gives the closet a reason to exist.

I wouldn't look into it too much. Trailers and pre-release stuff is edited so they don't spoil the story or whatever.

Remember when Type: Null's trailer showed you facing it in the wild on Poni? Something that's completely impossible in the final game?
