Cheated Pokemon

I'm trying to determine how risky it is to use a cheat device to catch various Pokemon.
I know people have recieved "bad eggs" from having a cheated Pokemon in their games, so I need to know whether a game is completely doomed by having cheated pokemon, and do "bad eggs" transfer over if you trade a cheated Pokemon?

I've tried searching for this info, but my keywords are apparently too common.

Please help by giving me good, solid evidence, the mechanics of how cheating corrupts a game, and so forth. Heresay, opinions and rumours will not be accepted, so please know what you're talking about.

Cheating brings up many glitches(?).
Examples:
*Bad Egg
*Can't buy in the PokeMart
*When you enter some places the screen gets black and you need to restart.
*MissingNo. Appears in the wild.
*Pokemon in your PC get their colours changed, not in the shiny form but black or blue or whatever.
*When walking many things appear and disappear quickly.

These are all I know. Cheating is harmful and to be safe don't use Cheating Devices.

Its not safe to use one.

It can bring up Ketsuban's(Missingno's) and Bad egg's.If you catch Myuu/Mew or Deoxys with one then it will not obey you.

I know they cause glitches, but what I mean is, do these glitches carry over when you trade, say a cheated Mew, and do these glitches always occur?

It happens sometimes, screw up the game that it is traded to, but most of times it doesn;t do anything.

For Pokemon that can breed, just do this to be sure safe:

Breed the pokemon you want to trade, hatch the Egg and trade the pokemon to the game that is not cheated.

Its not safe to use one.

It can bring up Ketsuban's(Missingno's) and Bad egg's.If you catch Myuu/Mew or Deoxys with one then it will not obey you.

When used the code to modify wild Pokemon, then the thing you told happens. But if you use the codes to warp in another place, then it doesn't happen.

When I had cheated, supposedly, with the GameShark SP I had done Island Warp Codes so I could get to Birth, Navel and Faraway Islands. Since I could not get the opposite Lati@s, I would use a code to enable you to re-examine the television again in your house so that you can meet the opposite Lati@s. Those are the only codes I did. I also had a code to encounter all of the Legendary Beasts after defeating the Elite 4 for the first time in FR/LG.

You do realise it is against Serebii policy to speak about cheating or cheating devices. It's punishable by ban.

I use a cheat device and it's good at first because i got mew, deoxys, lugia and ho-oh. Then i started to wonder what else cheat devices can do. I searched the internet and i found codes for catching you're opponents pokemon.

I tries it and it worked but instead of getting a pokemon i got bed eggs and my trainer card and the menu sysytem are all messed up so...

It seems that cheating device are bad for your games.

The only way I figure that it can ruin your game is if you use a bad code, or if you save with the code on. With my GS I can have it switched on and have a code to make, let's say, Celebi appear in the wild. I catch Celebi, but if i save BEFORE turning the GS off, the game will be ruined. I've never run into a bad egg or any other glitches, you just have to be careful and follow the instructions.

Well, a little while ago, I bought an Action Replay, and I could never get it to work .. it only worked for a few things. ;_;

I'm not asking FOR cheats, I just want to learn about it, and how it can ruin one's game. I honestly doubt that such an innocent question is bannable. (also, I don't see it in the rules: http://www.serebiiforums.com/rules.html)

That's a pretty interesting perspective on it- that IS how cheats tend to ruin other games.

You only get BadEGGs from bad codes, using codes like there's no tomorrow, or saving with codes on. I myself have never gotten a BadEGG merely because I know how cheating devices work and always enter in good codes.

There is a very very very very very small chance of a game you trade with another one that has been cheated on cause problems on the non-cheated one.

If you're to experiment on ARs or GSs I suggest using "dummy" cartridges or Emulators if you like running from the law. I used "dummy" cartidges myself.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The thing is that the Pokemon community is very unreliable when it comes to this kind of information, usually saying that Game Freak's out to get cheaters and so forth.

nothings ever happened to me, i bought an action replay cartridge,it only works for my sapphire and firered,to complete my pokedex,i use it on FR to get any pokemon i want,then,since it stopped FR from trading with any of my games except colliseum and XD,i trade poken through XD,and use the rare candy cheat on my saphhire,and breed the got pokemon to stop glitches,then i send the babys over to sapphire and get them to lv100.

ive benn doing this for over a year and all thats ever happened is i cant do the elite 4 on fire red and also on FR the help sceens gone,but thats all

All that's happened to me is when i bought an Action Replay and used it on my Leaf Green all it did was stop me from trading to sapphire and ruby and emerald and coloseum. Oh and i have infinite saphire and ruby plates

I once used the cheat module from my friend. I could catch Deoxys and Jirachi etc., and nothing bad happended. I also got endless money. But when I tried to battle against a friend in his secret base and used cheats e.g. Max. HP or Max. Attack the trainer suddenly battled with an egg. And after the battle and pkmn that fought in that battle, were eggs too... Unfortunately they were Latias, Aggron and Wailord...
I didn't save that of course and when I turned on the game again and everything was okay again.

It all really depends on what you want to cheat. You have to be sensible.
I've only cheated for the special events in Emerald and Crystal.

Some codes affect the games and some others don't.

There are some times which when you use a code, it can be very harmful.

Example: Going to Birth Island before beating May at Route 103. This will screw your game all up!
