    That would be funny...

I don't know if Ash will win or not, cause half the time he goes for type advantage, he loses, but if he get's the chance to choose first, you know his first choice is always Pikachu which means Iris for sure would choose Excadrill...of coarse all this won't matter if it's a 3 on 3

So Iris facing Kenyan while Cilan duels Luke. And then Ash will face Iris next. This I got to see.

    There`s another round after that.
    Ash VS COTD
    Iris VS Luke

I can see that. But anyway, I'm glad that Ash is able to cream another female jerk who makes fun of his friends. Iris must be really pleased that he done that. Who would have thought that Iris can make this far. Ash got his wish he have earlier. I can't see to see the battle between two trainers from the different regions and two of them were advanced trainers in the final round.

Ironically both Scraggy and Axew are shown in the next episode :p

That was way earlier than the scene we saw, so I doubt Snivy will activate Overgrow. Plus I don't think she'll end up resulting to that for a while.

    This. A thousand times, this!

They both aren't going to evolve and I very much doubt Ash will use other Pokemon anyway.

Correction! They both aren't going to evolve here.

That's what I meant, since the person talked about how Ash battles Iris(In the finals). :p Plus they could turn out to never evolve, which I very much doubt and I hope Axew doesn't stay as it is.

I recall someone saying that Axew was going to evolve "soon" because Fraxure was featured on a lunchbox. The person posted that about two months ago, but Axew is still an Axew. I'm just wondering what that person meant when they said "soon". But yeah, this tournament was a great opportunity for several Pokemon to evolve, but it looks like the writers want to keep all the Pokemon in their basic stages. I wonder why.

I thought it was evolving too because of the lunchbox but people have to realize that soon meant like within a few months, since at that time, we got the poster for M14, which had Axew on it. I am pretty sure Axew will evolve in a span of 1-10 episodes after M14, which started with the Zorua Episode I believe, so my guess is prior to BW050(including the skipped episodes)

I'm looking forward to the Cilan vs Luke battle, since even though Stunfisk loses, it sure looks like it will give Larvesta a run for it's money

I don't think it's time for Palpitoad to evolve, but otherwise I like the match ups

I wouldn't be surprised if Palpitoad, Swadloon, and Roggenrola all had really quick evolutions. Especially if Ash is going to be capturing more reserves later on. On the other hand though, I don't see any of the starters evolving until right before the 5th gym. Which may be somewhere around BW060-65

I wouldn't mind it if Palpitoad evolved, but, I would much rather Snivy and Emolga to battle if it was one on one. And if Snivy evolved that would be awesome, I wonder what Emolga's reaction would be.

If Palpitoad evolved it could set up a possible subplot with Oshawott being jealous of Seismitoad's power...

OT: I don't want Iris to win the whole tournament unless Axew evolves. Otherwise Excadrill is carrying her whole team and it seems lame.

I have a few reasons for that final match up:

    - I don't see Iris winning. The feather set will probably become one of Ash's Unova trophies.
    - I say Excadrill because Emolga has already been used twice now. If Excadrill isn't used in the finals, Iris wouldn't have used three pokemon in the entire tournament even though she's made it to the finals. What sense does it make to leave out the strongest of your three pokemon in a tournament like this?
    - If Ash is restricted to Pikachu, Palpitoad, and Snivy (and why wouldn't he be?) the only one I can see putting up a decent match is Palpitoad.

    * Pikachu had Quick Attack (not very effective), Thunderbolt and Electro Ball(completely uneffecticve), and Iron Tail (not very effective).
    * Snivy's Attract would could work, but its not very reliable. In the next episode we see Sawk stopping Emolga's Attract too. All of its Grass attacks would do neutral damage, but Excadrill just has more raw power. Pikachu and Snivy winning would seem kinda forced.

Palpitoad has type advantage all way around, but I still see Excadrill as the team's strongest pokemon currently. Type adavantage may not be enough. It would make this tournament seem like it lead up to something if Palpitoad evolved here too.

I was one of multiple people pointing that out. I still think it'll be the next team member to evolve because of that lunchbox. So while it's clear Axew won't evolve in the tournament, I think it will in ten to fifteen episodes.

And thunderblade, I realize it doesn't make sense, but I still believe that in a 1 vs. 1 match against Iris's Excadrill, the only one who could defeat it is Pikachu. Palpitoad has the type advantage, but it doesn't have as much raw power or experience, though I certainly think it would give Excadrill a run for its money. Snivy probably couldn't for the reasons you pointed out. But Pikachu has fourteen years four regions' worth of experience. He may not have a single useful move against Excadrill, but he has the more important things. He has creativity. He has versatility. He has optimism. He has confidence. He has courage. He has marketing skills. And, most importantly, he has plot power. I mean seriously, nobody is better at pulling controversial victories out of his magic electrical rear than Pikachu. He may have the defensive capabilities of a piece of paper, but he's got favoritism and commercialism and if Excadrill were to beat it, all of the nostalgia buffs will call foul, quit watching the show, and one of Nintendo's greatest moneymakers goes down the toilet. Well, maybe it's not that bad, but there are going to be as many people ticked off by Pikachu losing to Excadrill as will be mad about the opposite.

So yeah. Pikachu loses when it's convenient, and wins when it's convenient. That's the way it's always been, that's the way it always will be. So I guess it all comes down to whether the writers want Ash or Iris to win.
