Funny story, I actually mixed this up with another RP I signed up for. Thankfully, I did sign up for the original version of this too.
Name: Peter Aren
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Hometown: Pewter City, Kanto
Type: Rock
Powers:
Rock Blast: Peter summons a blast of small rocks at a single target. They aren’t very big or powerful individually, but they can cause damage if they build up.
Wide Guard: Peter summons a thin barrier of stone around himself and nearby allies. It works to stop wide-area attacks, but more targeted attacks can easily break through the thin stone. The more he uses it without resting, the weaker the wall grows.
Rock Guard: A version of wide guard that only works on Peter and summons thicker rocks. It creates a wall of rocks around Peter that protect him from damage. Peter is still mobile while using Rock Guard, but if he moves too fast he will exit the guard. While it stops attacks from coming in, it also stops them from going out so he pretty much becomes a wall who can’t strike back.
Rock Slide: While he has Rock Guard up, Peter can break it and send the stones at a target. This strikes harder than Rock Blast and moves faster, but requires the build-up of summoning the Rock Guard.
Geokinesis: Peter can control rocks. He uses this to do his other powers, but can also use it for things like excavating rocks and redirecting rocks that come at him or others.
Appearance: As you might guess of someone who represents the rock type, Peter is a mountain of a man. Despite being only 18, he is tall for any man, and has been the same height since he was about 15. Also as you would expect of someone like him, he is wide-shouldered and muscular, making him overall very large. His skin is tanned from his time hiking and working outside. His hair is cut short, but blonde which makes it stand out against his dark skin. At least, it stands out when he isn’t wearing a hat. As a rather basic precaution for someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, Peter wears a tan sun hat with a brim big enough to cover his eyes if he were to tilt it down. He has a boulder badge attached to the hat. His face is surprisingly soft and emotive for someone connected to rocks. Peter’s eyes are large and a bright green and he usually has a smile on his face.
Peter dresses for work at the Pewter Gym and in Mount Moon, even on days when he does neither. He wears a simple white shirt with a picture of a boulder badge on it. He wears brown shorts and hiking boots. Peter always carries a green backpack with him stocked with water, snacks, a small first-aid kit, and a short cane for if he needs to poke around somewhere without wanting to risk his hands. His hands are calloused and have small scratches and injuries, but Peter doesn’t have any large injuries.
Personality: Peter doesn’t hide his emotions, but he still isn’t the most emotive of people. While his face and body language show how he feels, his tone of voice usually remains very neutral. Having spent a lot of time in the caves of Mount Moon, Peter is cautious to prevent dangerous situations. He is watchful of others to try and make sure that no one else gets into a dangerous situation or endangers others. While not disconnected from other humans, Peter is closer to Pokemon because of spending almost half of his life now assisting at a Pokemon gym. Also, because of being raised in Pewter City with Rock-type gym leaders as role models, Peter has a strong liking of Rock-type Pokemon and trainers who specialize in Rock-types.
While far from talkative, Peter isn’t very reserved with words either. He doesn’t brag about himself or belittle others, so he tends to be seen as a nice guy-a conclusion that isn’t far from the truth. There are probably nicer people-Peter is the type who would bring you give someone advice or a small favor if they asked but he won’t just give the shirt off his back to someone he doesn’t know-but Peter is still a fairly good person.
However, like a mountain, there is always the chance of hitting the wrong nerve and triggering a rock slide. Peter does not like rude people or those who refuse to listen to others. While he won’t immediately snap just from someone acting like this, he can stand it for only a short time. While he never physically lashes out at others, he doesn’t need to. An angry mountain of a man tends to intimidate others into listening. Then, after Peter calms himself down, he apologizes and continues on like nothing happened.
History: Peter is a second child in a small family. He was born and raised in Pewter City. His father was an excavator who worked in Mount Moon, digging up fossils, moonstones, and other things for the company he worked for to sell, though he is now a manager and not as active as he used to be. His mother is a worker at the Pewter Museum of Science. His brother, David, was already 13 when Peter was born and was one of the trainers that helped out at the Pewter City Gym.
With two well-off but not rich parents, Peter had a fairly average life for a resident of Pewter City. He went to school, spent a lot of time at the museum, and made the occasional trip to Mount Moon. Other than the fact that he was always large for kids his age, Peter didn’t have anything weird happen to him.
On his tenth birthday, he got a special present. David got Peter an apprenticeship at the Pewter Gym. Peter spent the first year of this apprenticeship cleaning up and organizing for the gym, and helping take care of the gym’s pokemon. Then, shortly after a year of apprenticeship, Peter met his guardian.
The foreign gym leader Grant was on vacation in the Kanto region and stopped by the Pewter gym. By luck, or potentially destiny, Grant had brought some pokemon as gifts for the gym and Peter was there when he arrived. Peter was looking over the Pokemon-a Tyrunt, an Amaura, a Larvitar, and a massive Shieldon-when something odd happened. The Shieldon introduced herself and her friends, and Peter understood them. While he didn’t know what happened, Brock noticed Peter paying attention to the Shieldon, Armure. So, as a reward for a year of assisting around the gym, Brock gave Peter the Shieldon.
Since then, Peter has continued working at the Pewter Gym, while recently taking up some volunteer work to clean up Mount Moon. He has been rather content with his life, continuing to help take care of Armure and the Pewter Gym Pokemon. He spent much time talking to Armure, as well as talking to other pokemon around the gym through her. A short while ago, both David and Brock have been encouraging Peter to take a break from the gym and go on a journey. Peter was hesitant, he had probably spent just as much time in the gym and Mt. Moon as he has his own home and didn't feel good just leaving them.
Then he had the dream. The legendary Pokemon Xerneas appeared in his dream and spoke to him. She told him to go to Celestic Town in Sinnoh. At first, Peter thought it was just an odd dream, but when he told Armure about it, she told him that it was very serious.
Guardians (Our lovable companions have a joint sign up)
Name: Armure
Gender: Female
Species: Shieldon
Appearance: Armure is absolutely massive for a Shieldon at about three feet tall. Her gigantism puts pressure on her joints, so she is usually resting with some heating pads to relieve the pain.
Personality: Armure is a prime example of ‘slow and steady’. She moves slowly because of her large size, but is hard to faze. Since she can’t do much physical movement, she spends a lot of time thinking. This can lead to incredibly weird trains of thought that can confuse those she talks to. Sometimes, though, she strikes on rather smart ideas even if they may be a bit out of the box. Because she uses heating pads, Armure is drawn to hot places.
Mentor
Species: Terrakion
Gender: Male
Appearance: None.
Personality: Terrakion is a driven idiot. He is driven towards justice and achieving peace and would be willing to go so far as to give his life for it. He is a nice guy who would help anyone with their problems. The problem is that he's as dumb as a bag of rocks. His problem solving methods are usually the kind of thing you'd see from small children.
