Argent

A piece of the whole
Greetings. My name is Masterdex. I am the prototype hand-held Encyclopedia that was created before that new upstart, Pokedex. Yet, for some odd reason, everyone desires that flashy piece of junk. Worse are those new “wristwatch'” Pokedexes, ugh. What sort of demented mind believes these things to be of use except for perhaps an ineffective device one could pick up Pokemon dung with? I am the advanced version, I have more information, andI am the first and only true Pokemon Encyclopedia! I was created and used by the late Professor Syrius Blake, teacher of so called esteemed and oh-SO-important, Professor Oak! Bah, how can anybody regard a person that uses children as primary information gather for a Pokemon database seriously?! My master Professor Blake used me personally to collect and analyze the information these simple-minded trainers overlook - the lifestyles, and the mentality of their Pokemon. Essentially, I contain the information that REALLY matters and states succinctly what these Pokemon truly are.

Yet, perhaps you feel I am boasting. I believe a demonstration of what I have culminated would demure your thoughts on the Pokedex and allow you to appreciate the marvel that I am. Very well, I shall begin the demonstration presently…

Pokemon: Abra, and further evolutions.

Abra# 63
Ht: 2' ll"
Wt: 49 lbs.
The PSI Pokemon, uses its telekinetic abilities to sense hostility and Teleports away from danger.

To call this a proper definition of a Pokemon would be akin to saying a donut is something gluttonous police officers consume… This humdrum Pokedex blurb tells nothing meaningful. Well, then allow me to demonstrate what a true Pokemon reference device should be…

Abras exist in highly structure communities and are among the most advanced Pokemon in existence. Groups of Abra live in communities underneath the earth's crust, and can number in the hundreds. These caverns are called ‘passel' or ‘den.' Normally situated in caverns and cave systems, it is speculated that primitive Abras exclusively resided in cavernous mountains. As Abras evolved into Kadabras, however, artificial passels are made Kadabras and can occur anywhere in the Pokemon world. Not especially social creatures, these dens are preferred by Abras and Kadabras as it provides quiet solitude and from other Pokemon. The only reason that Abras ever appear away from passels is to forage for food to bring back to the community, or perhaps in the rare instances to be mischievous or sociable. It is during these instances, when the Abras are out of passels, that humans have the rare chance to capture this elusive Pokemon. Yet, as my genius brother pointed out, these Pokemon Teleport to escape from any hostility that they sense. What Mr. Popularity failed to mention was HOW Abra senses this aggression. This, of course, is simple neuroscience. When any creature desires to attack or move close toward something, that creature releases neurotransmitters which allow them to confront the target. Abras have keen electro-chemical senses and can pick up the presence of these neurotransmitters and make a hasty escape. This ability to flee from any potential threat, in addition to the rare chance that they actually appear on the surface, makes this a very difficult Pokemon to catch (or eat.)

Another reason why Abras stay in passels is they are cold blooded creatures; the lower levels of the planet provide natural thermal heat. Thus, when their bodies touch the non-heated surface, their quickly lose that heat. If an Abra loses too much heat its reaction time slows and forces the Abras to find food as quickly as possible. When they find food, they teleport immediately back to their passels and place the food in a center pile. This food is then consumed by the hungry Abras and Kadabras, in a cylical fashion other Abras too go their rounds of surface hopping. Undeniably, having these food foragers become captured by trainers is a great annoyance to the passel Pokemon that are awaiting food. As Abra's evole, they gain the ability to control the environment around them, creating the temperature they desire. Thus, they rarely slow down due to lack of heat which also allows them to use more of their physical and psychic abilities..

Being the lesser evolution, Abras cannot fully tap to their full telekinetic powers. However, when taught TMs or HMs, these Pokemon become solid fighters, although their fragility lessens their usefulness. It is typically suggested to trainers of Abra to abuse the Teleport move to weaken the opponent’s stamina and strike when it is such.

Kadabras #64
Unlike Abras, Kadabras are almost fully in tune with their telekinetic powers. Extremely fast and percise, this Pokemon is extremely difficult to defeat. Within passels, Kadabras take a position of reverence and honor. These Pokemon are the guardians of the passels, and prevent any intruder, knowing or otherwise from entering the Pokemon's den. Typically, a fourth of the ontrials consist of Kadabras, with elder Kadabra overlooking the community from their own exclusive passels. These elders are extremely powerful, and are able to manipulate the colony to do what they please. It should be taken to account that the times that elders intervene are extremely rare, and it is usually only when their food is almost depleted due by famines or on other such occasions of great crisis.

Which Abras are chosen to become Kadabra are determined at a very young age. When a newborn Abra exhibits Telekinetic attacks (usually inherited from their parents) they are set apart from the group and are forced to live on the surface. They then must become entirely self-sufficient or perish. If, in the hostile environment where the air slows down their movements and predators persist, these Abras manage to evolve, they will be able to return to their home passel to become the protector and be supplied with food for the rest of its life. Thus, a new guardian is created.

In battle, a Kadabra's attack capabilities are phenomenal. Its body possesses more electrolytes than all of the known Pokemon that exist, and are able to spark the atmosphere itself by sending out electromagnetic waves. It is for this reason that clocks and other mechanical devices tend to behave oddly when this Pokemon is near. They can also direct electromagnetic force at their opponents (commonly confused as “psychic power”), which is by far the most effective method of attack for this Pokemon, as changing temperatures requires more concentration to be successful.

Alakazam #65
The final evolution of Abra, this Pokemon has powers that are unsurpassed by most known Pokemon. Kadabras naturally fear this power and prevent Alakazams from ever entering the ontrials. Moody and extremely independent, being exiled doesn't bother them a bit.

Kadabras cannot evolve into Alakazams using conventional methods. It often takes a severe, traumatic shock to the Pokemon that triggers its evolution. Often it is the Pokemon's belief that it is inferior to a Pokemon that it considers ‘lesser'. Trading, it seems, triggers this effect more than any other way.

These Pokemon have full and absolute control over their telekinetic abilities which allows them to control almost anything, be it temperature, electricity, body functions, even time. They use these abilities to seek ways to become the absolute power. What they intend to do with this power is unknown.

The Spoon
A majority of Kadabras and Alakazams have been noted to carry a spoon with them. These spoons are made of Chromite, a metal that has been known to emit a slight electromagnetic field. This metal is not found anywhere else in the world and has a strength that exceeds steel. Kadabras and Alakazams apparently use this spoon to focus telekinetic energy which makes the attack more accurate and more powerful. It is unknown where Kadabras receive Chromite spoons, as they do not have them when they evolve, but usually have them the morning after. Humans have sought these spoons for centuries, some for electromagnetic therapy, while others who want to improve their own telekinetic abilities.

Death
A footnote: Despite what certain television shows and video games lead you to believe, Pokemon do perish. If this is distressing to you, I must mention that everybody dies sometime. Deal with it.

Abras and their evolutions have extremely long life spans. They are able to slow their metabolic rate, which gives them near immortality. However, they aren't immortal, as this slow down usually only allows them to live for approximately 150 years. In the wild, when one of these Pokemon has an unfortunate ‘ending' they are taken to a tranquil pool near the passel, which basically serves as the Abra and Kadabra grave site.

Due to their incredible psychic abilities, Alakazam lifetimes are impossible to register as they always outlive their trainer. Through carbon dating, some live Alakazams have been dated as far back as 574 BP (Oh forgive me. In the Pokemon world we hold a different time cycle than yours. In essence, BP is short for Bentinium Pokeballsium, otherwise known as before the invention of the Pokeball). It is unknown where Alakazams go after their trainer has died, some speculate that they wander the globe, searching for a new trainer that has the same personality as the old, and he or she becomes their new master. Most Pokemon researches speculate that they are attempting to discover a way into Melander, a kind of ‘Alakazam Nirvana'.

Training
When initially captured, these Pokemon do NOT trust their trainers initially. This is particularly due to culture shock of being taken out of an extremely structured environment and into a trainer’s often undefined one. Additionally, it is very hard to train these Pokemon, as they tend to have a superiority complex over the trainer and all of their Pokemon. Pokemon trainers that specialize in psychic Pokemon state that the easiest way to break in a wild Abra is to have a clear and definite vision which allows them to see itself becoming a stronger Pokemon. It takes an exceptionally well-planned and determined trainer to have an Abra evolve and have the Kadabra still obey their commands. Alakazams are the epitome of power and, once again, become even more difficult to train. They are extremely resistant to the trainer, and unless they have had an exceptionally good relationship with their Kadabra before it evolved, an Alakhazam may leave the trainer forever. Of course, if you are a telekinetic yourself, training becomes much easier. These Pokemon react well to other telekinetics, therefore, you and your Pokemon will be able to relate with each other. It has also been speculated, though never proven, that telekinetics are able to enhance these Pokemon's abilities by adding their own psychic power to their Pokemon.

Pokemon's Attacks and how to recognize them
Teleport - the Pokemon glows a bright white color, and vanishes. The process by which this is done is unknown, but Pokemon Professors believe that these Pokemon are able to speed their molecules to such an extent that they are able to be transported anywhere instantly. It is believed in this ‘teleported' state it goes through the gaps of molecules and atoms which is why it can go through solid objects.

Confusion - A relatively weak Psychic attack. The Pokemon throws random electromagnetic waves at the opponent. Being random, the opponent doesn't know where the next strike will come and can become confused. This attack has a range of 50 - 70 ft.

Psybeam - A solid Psychic attack which is learnable only by Kadabra and Alakhazam. The entire force of a Confusion attack is focused into their Chromite spoons and becomes a single stream of electromagnetic force. The strength of the beam can be physically seen as a pale purple beam. The stronger the beam, the stronger this light becomes. When invisible, this attack may come to a surprise to other Pokemon and may cause confusion. This attack has a range of 70 -100 ft.

Psychic - Or as it is coined among Pokemon users ‘The Psychic Bomb'. In essence, the Pokemon allows all of its Telekinetic power into a massive blast of Electromagnetic energy. In some Pokemon Tournaments, it is illegal to use this attack, as it greatly damages anything mechanical that is in range of the blast (including score keeping machines). This attack is physically excruciating on both Pokemon, and may even knock out the Pokemon that uses it. Range - a 30-50 ft. radius around the Pokemon.

Future Sight - These Pokemon perform Future sight by slipping their arms into nothingness. What is believed to have happened is that they slipped the time barrier to deliver an attack in the future. This belief is solidified with the appearance of Kadabras or Alakazams arms coming from nowhere and attacking the Pokemon with a strong Psybeam.

Reflect and Light Screen - Once again using their telekinetic powers, they are able to create powerful barriers that prevent damage. Reflect is used to repel Carbon (a common element in most Pokemon) and Light Screen neutralizes any fluctuations of heat, cold, electricity, and electromagnetism. Some more experienced Alakazams are able to maintain these barriers at all times, which make them extremely difficult to damage.

Disable – A very difficult move to see occur, the best indication of this move is the Kadabra’s eyes will glow an aquamarine blue. Unfortunately by the time a trainer is able to the move, these Pokemon have already entered the opponent's brains. During that time, they may be able to create ‘mental blocks' within the opponent's head that prevents the victim from remembering their attacks. Truly experienced Kadabras and Alakazams can prevent the opponent from doing more than one attack, or in extreme cases, memories and survival instincts. When Kadabra's or Alakazams perform this move, they just stare directly into their opponent's eyes. The simple way to combat this move is to remove eye contact.

Recover - By increasing their metabolic rate, Kadabras and Alakazams are able to heal almost any wound. Whenever this move is performed, Kadabras and Alakazams become extremely tired and hungry. This is due to the fact that by increasing their metabolic rate, they basically excel their bodies for an entire day, which gives their mind the feeling of hunger and fatigue. (If you want an example on how this feels, stay up an entire day without eating or sleeping).

Feed
Being cold blooded, these Pokemon don't require food as often as some. They do, however, enjoy a treat once a day. All of these Pokemon eat the same composition of food, which tends to be fruit and nuts. However, these Pokemon will be able to eat anything to sustain themselves. By forcing their own digestive system to digest the food as required (which, in extreme cases, may be the dirt around them). It has been noted by Syrius, that these Pokemon greatly enjoy Walnuts. He believed they enjoyed eating something that resembled the brain, which is why they enjoyed this nut.

Wild Pokemon Reactions to Trained Pokemon
Trained Kadabras and Alakazams are never allowed to go back to the passels that they were born in. If they were (and this has been recorded) the Abras and Kadabras will set a unified strike on the ‘invading' Pokemon. Even Abras get in the fray by Teleporting into the ‘invader'. When the invader is effectively dealt with, the Abras take it out to a nearby river, and let it flow out to sea.

First Appearance
There have been a few discovered temples that honor these Pokemon. The most ancient was discovered in 2034 AP by Lewon Shleck. He speculated that the temple dated as far back as 1200 BP and many Abras were worshiped there. He continues by saying that it is the only Man-made ontrial to exist, as it resembles the excavated ontrials that have been discovered. Prior to that discovery, the oldest temple dedicated to Kadabras was created in 800 BP by the Unk-tan people. In these temples an extraction ceremony would take place; it was believed that the brain of these pokemon enhances intelligence, a practice that is starting to pick up steam in some areas of the world.

Human Beliefs
Due to the extreme rarity of these Pokemon, many believe it good fortune to capture one. Many consider the evolutions of this Pokemon completely invincible, as they are able to repel attacks with relative ease. There is a celebration in Celadon City that honors these Pokemon. The Legend goes that an Alakazam once defended the city from a rampant Gyrados (which of course is denied by the Gym Leader there), the fierceness of which made the Alakazam return to becoming an Abra. Since then, every 5th day of the 6th month there is a competition that provides prizes for the people that can catch an Abra.

Non-Battle Uses
Abras are commonly used to transport large packages and as rescue units for hostages and people trapped in a fiery building. On the opposite spectrum, whole groups of people can be transported at any time, which caused the Great Pillage of Goldenrod City in 3046 AP.

Kadabras are sometimes used to detect where pain is coming from in patients. Pain also emits a distinct neurotransmitter, and Kadabras can be trained to sense this chemical. Well trained Kadabras are able to prevent the chemical from entering the brain, which have been used for surgical procedures or to let people die painlessly, even in some of the most extreme situations. They can also increase the metabolic rate of humans, ‘Recovering' them. (It should be note that this tends to make the human very grumpy, and they often request food and sleep afterwards). They are also used for slight demolition work, as their powers have the impact of dynamite. They are also used to make bombs go out of sync, which have been known to be able to stop some bombs.

Alakazams, although hard to contain, can perform all the above uses, except more effectively.

Rare Instances
Once in a rare while (1 in 10,000) there are ‘olivert' Abras, or Doom Abras. These Abras have an exceptionally hard carapace, which is viewed as a deformity in the Abra community. These Abras are immediately taken to a desolate place and is left there. The Doom Abras usually die to the first predator that sees them, hence the name. If a trainer is fortunate enough to capture such a Pokemon, they will discover that although their Special Attack isn't up to par as Abras and Kadabras of its kind, their Defensive and Physical Offensive skills are superb, due to the extra weight they have to carry. When these Abras become Alakazams, their Special Attack levels out with other Alakazams, and their Physical and Defensive skills stay exceptional keen for the species. One such Alakazam was able to defeat a Machamp using only Physical moves. As my Professor once stated, ‘What is often regarded as the worst is merely a matter of opinon'.

Heh heh heh, I would like you see a Pokedex compete with that!

Hmmmm, Very extensive and descriptive. I haven't seen a Pokedex that could do that! I don't know if that is allowed though, but I'm STILL gonna rate it good. I saw that you misspelled Alakazam once, but besides that it was pretty good.

I wonder how other pokemon would fare in the Masterdex? *thinks deeply*

Now you see me...
Haha, awesome, Argent. I like your take on this new, very much improved version of the Pokedex. I want one. Truthfully, I found it fascnating, and I couldn't help but stare at how thoroughly the Masterdex went into the Abra line. (The Part about the Abra line being cold-blooded and the facts about their spoons and death were equally fascinating)

Wow. First I would like to say that I really liked it. It was very descriptive and explained exactly what an Abra family would be like. Just a few things I found.

Most Poekmon researches speculate

Oops, a typo.

Unfortunately by the time a trainer is able to seeThese

Need a period and a space.

All in all, it was terrific. I can't wait to see what other pokemon you do. Will you be doing legendaries or just the basic pokemon? Anyways, I'm off.

Thanks kindly for your words and comments. And allow me to introduce myself, lol

My name is Argent and I'm kinda an ol' fogey when it comes to Pokemon fanficyness. I used to write on the old pojo.com forums back when the community flourished. I look forward to seeing some of your fanfics and truly hope I have the time to read a good many of them. ^_^

Shiny Deoxys, thanks for the edits *pulls out a bat and runs after them*
