A lot of Charizard fanboys tend to be illogical and incapable of taking an objective look at their favorite pokemon and will not accept the fact that it has flaws. All they see is a badazz orange fire-breathing dragon. But Charizard is not perfect: it had better Special attack but most of its good moves are physical; pretty much all of its boosting moves focus on the weaker physical side (Belly Drum, Swords Dance, Dragon Dance); base 100 speed is no longer "fast," and of course losing 50% of your health is a big deal. However, I do believe it is a fallacy to claim that all people that you describe are truly "Charizard haters." I for example like Charizard on the ascetic level, he's one of the most iconic pokemon, I probably pick him most often when I play FRLG, and of course he has one of the best shiny sprites. But I also know he's far from perfect. There's nothing wrong with liking a pokemon based on its looks while also accepting that it has flaws.

My inner hipster makes me hate Charizard, because it seems like everyone loves him and wants him.

But if Charizard is the least-used of the Kanto starters competitively, shouldn't hipsters chose Charizard? Or at least do it ironically.

I have always loved Articuno and Entei. Ever since playing my first 2 pokemon games(Crystal and Yellow versions) they have been my favorite legendaries.

The issue is much bigger than people hating on Charizard fans. It has to do with a much wider variety of pokémon that have little to no competitive viability whatsoever. Much of the hate stems from the competitive battlers who see pokémon such as Charizard to be completely useless in battles. They lash out at people who refuse to acknowledge that certain pokémon have flaws (which is a preposterous notion being that the "perfect team" does not exist) and quite often have a mindset focused on a few choice pokémon that everyone else in the competitive field uses. Hatred over other people's preferences is as big a waste of time as trying to dig a pond with a spoon.
