Colored Pencils are my Friends

Cousin Woofer

Just a minute.
Yep, I just rediscovered the magic that can be found in a twelve pack of crayola colored pencils. Enjoy the graphite-y goodness.
(I'll update on weekends, if possible.)

Woo! Hooray for bad puns!
This was...well, it was a bad idea from the beginning. Let's just say I have a certain best friend with a certain terrible sense of humor.
And let's also just say that I'm just stupid enough to draw this for her.

The Jade Elephant
I've actually been working on this one for about a week and a half. I used colored pencils exclusively; no pens, no ordinary pencils. Just two shades of green, some blue, and a hint of orange and purple. I really like how it came out, although I think it looks a tad bit tilted...oh well.

You Shut Your Mouth...
I did this in about twenty minutes while staying the night on-campus at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. Not exactly colored pencil, but my resources were limited, considering the circumstances.

Inifinity B-Day
Again, not exactly colored-pencil, but this one is a favorite of mine. I, of course, did it for Infinity's birthday, which has since passed, but whatever. I tried to go for the "olde tyme photograph" look, but I'm not exactly sure it worked. Whatever, I like it.

OBEY
A bleak vision of a cereal-themed future. I'm not particularly happy with the lack of a background, but I do like how the word "dastardly" perfectly describes this picture. Crunchitize me, Cap'n.

Oh, I love it! The gesture, the atmosphere, the expression! Colored pencils are certainly your friends!

Great stuff!

That's extremely well drawn. I love the shading and the expression on the guy's face. The logs look amazingly authentic. The twigs he's banging look like sickles though lol.

Well you certainly break the tradition of "Colored pencils are n00bish", this stunningly cool and completely obscure piece looks like it derives from Obscurity itself. You make bad puns funny.

Colored pencils should be everyones friends, theyre easy to use and if you use them right its amazing what kind of results you can get. Don't know what this pictures based off but It looks great, nice shading.

Natural logs, heh.

I'm amazed by your mad art skillz without much of any photoshopping (or use of other art program) or even any ink, for that matter. Proof that pencils are GAWDLY for art. Not to mention, a pencil and a sharpener last a lot longer than a pen.

I'm also impressed by your humor. I guess you're going through the terror that is Algebra 2 Trig now, right?

Just a minute.
Ha, natural logs. That actually would have been a good title.
Anyway...
I'm technically in a Pre-Calc course, but that doesn't mean I'm done with trig. It just means there's harder trig.
The pic was a request for a friend who is in Algebra 2, though, if that counts.

Thanks again for the comments. I'll have another one up as soon as possible.

Very nice, albeit a little weird x)

My only complaint would be in the left side of his face-- it struck me as a little strange, as did his neck.

Traiditional art pwns. Lead pencils are my friends :D

That one looks amazing. I love how it looks like it's really gleaming, and the details are insane. I'm just wondering, why are there little lines or patches of purple in some places?

Well, it does look good though, as if it were meant to be there. Sort of like shading, or it could even look like one of those museum statues, the ones that are so old that they have that black and purple grime in some of the cracks, and I don't mean that to say that your drawing looks "dirty," I mean it looks extremely authentic.

Colored pencils are awesome when used right and you did a very good job using them. The shading and lineart was well done, making the two pictures awesome. X3

Hope to see more of your work in the future.

Superb job on both pictures, if I do say so myself... which I obviously do!

Good colored pencil work is really a site to behold, and I think you're well on your way to mastering it. Keep it up! I'll be looking forward to your "if possible" weekend updates.

I FINALLY UPDATED! HOLY CRAP!
Man, did I leave this thread to rot, or what? Luckily, I've arrived in the nick of time to save it from oblivion. I've got a lot to upload as of yet, but I've added two sketches to justify the revival of the thread.

And my oh my are these some good works.

I can take a beating, but I wonder what I would say to make someone want to whack me with a piñata bat. The compensator looks painful...

I love the punning one. It's great. I really like the way your draw your characters. You've obviously spent a good deal of time perfecting your individual style. It's great to see something so unique and funny. I can't wait to see more of your work.
