Colosseum Rulebreakers?

The Great Butler

Hush, keep it down
I was facing the seventh trainer in Orre Colosseum, Double Mode the other day. Both of us were down to our last two Pokémon---he then had his Regirock use Explosion WITHOUT Protect, resulting in all four Pokémon fainting. Please explain to me, then........how the match could be called in HIS favor? The rules explicitly say "If all Pokémon faint due to Selfdestruct or Explosion, the user loses."

I think it would be because he made the final move but I'm not sure

That shouldn't matter. He made the Explosion, so under the rules he should've lost.

At least in the Battle Frontier the rules are clearly stated that the computer always wins when it uses Explosion.......in Colosseum, as you can see, it's not clear at all.

They are just following the game rules. If the player and the AI tie, the AI wins. Why? Let's see you progress in story mode with a fainted party.

It's not Story Mode, though. It was in Colosseum Mode.

And the rule explicitly states that the *user* of Explosion loses in such an instance. If they wanted it the other way, fine, but they should've put it as such then. ("If all Pokémon faint due to Selfdestruct or Explosion PLAYER loses" instead of "User loses")

The one and only.
Its just that the rules are crap. They are made to make YOU lose. Besides, it could have been a mistranslation, so thats why it says the user, when it should have said, the player, not computer, loses.
