Since when does FB allow you to survive Explosion? Have you ever seen this in the BF? If it was possible, I assure you they'd put something that cheap in it.

It's never worked for me and my Scizor's FB stopped him from fainting all of the time.

When I started to read this topic, I was like WTH a strategy like this and it might not have been realized yet? If it really works and the chance to survive would be a bit bigger, this would be an 00ber combo. :p

Maybe I overreact a bit because this might still be easy to counter.

Edit: from an opposing pokemon? I might want to try this sometime, too bad I don't a choice band...

remember, when i was in battle frontier, this hitmonlee hung on focus band TWICE!!!! so if it really works on explosion, then you have a chance of using it THREE times before fainting, or even more if you are lucky enough. So i support treecko-fan as it is, and 00ber combo if it works

I don't believe it is possible. That would take away from the whole result of Selfdestruct/Explosion. It says right there in the move description that the user faints, so that is great evidence to support the fact that using Focus Band to survive Selfdestruct/Explosion is not possible. Plus as people have said, if it was possible it would have been encountered in the Battle Fronteir by now.

Hmm... No.
It's a move similar to Memento, your Pokémon faints without fail when you use it. Even if you think about this thing as if it were in real life: An opposing Pokémon attacks... Your Pokémon has Focus Band... The Pokémon focuses... And survives the attack. However, when using Selfdestruct, Explosion, Memento and similar (if any more exist, I can't think of any right now), the Pokémon deliberately destroys itself. That's a kind of explanation as to why it doesn't work. The Pokémon faints intentionally to deal as much damage as possible, or, in Memento's case, to lower the opponent's stats as much as it can.

CB multiplies your Atk power by 1.5 in battle and only allows you to use the first move you selected. Focus Band is a hax item that gives you an 8% chance of surviving an opponent's attack. Focus Band does not work for Confusion, Spikes, Poison, Sandstorm, Leech Seed, or Burn, or anything else for that matter that causes indirect damage at the end of the turn. So why would this work for Explosion/Selfdestruct again?

It would be one pain-in-the-neck of a combination if it worked, and it would be fully exploited in the Frontier, which we all know is rigged in the opponent's favor. So I'd have to say no, I don't think that this works; but until it's tested we won't know for sure.
