Combusken Evolve?

This is an interesting debate. I've always wanted to see more of Blaziken but would May be able to handle such a powerhouse. I say yes, but I definietly want to see Grovyle evolve first because it worked harder. I'm still surprised Torchic evolved after doing absolutely nothing in battle.

Torchic evolved because it was pretty much useless in battles. Well, they certainly wouldn't repeat the 'Charizard incident' if Combusken indeed evolved, and I also don't think May would have a problem with Blaziken... but an evolution is anything but necessary in this case IMO.

Combusken is a strong Pokémon, and as I said in another thread, the animators have managed to make it look quite cute although the game sprite looks absolutely horrifying. It suits May just as perfectly as Torchic did, but I do kinda have my doubts with Blaziken.

By the way, it's merely a matter of time till a '[SPOIL]Squirtle[/SPOIL] Evolve?' thread will pop up, right? :/

No more evolve threads from me. If you want them make more threads on your own. But these 3 pokemon are most necessary in my opinion. Anyway May doesn't need Blaziken because Combusken suits her team fine but Blaziken needs much more screentime so I'd want it.

I know a certain member who's going to go ballistic when he sees this thread. Anyway, Combusken evolving is a no-no. It's already extreamley powerful, and Blaziken is overrated as it is. If May got one the fanbase would become intolerable.

can you even imagine may with a blaziken. I've grown used to may and combusken but it was weird enough having getting used to it in the first place. Though blaziken may be good in a contest, i don't think i'd like to see it evolve.

If I'm not mistaken Blazikens only cameo was Harrison's. To be honest I don't want to see May with Blaziken, but, Blaziken needs to be showcased. The way I see it May will always keep her starter. Grovyle and [SPOIL]Marshtomp[/SPOIL] may be shafted after the Battle Fronteir, but I doubt Combusken. So maybe when May becomes more experienced, then she can have a Blaziken.

Yeah, I guess, you're right. Combusken evolving might actually change the stereotype that May gets from catching only cute pokemon.

Well you do have to realize that Combusken is May's starter Pokemon, thus it's her most favored and quite likely her strongest.

I could see May with a Blaziken, but I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. Combusken is perfect for her right now, so if an evolution for it is planned, I hope it's not until mid-late in the D/P region.

Combusken is fine for the time being.

I see combusken's evolution coming eventually maybe not in the near future but, it is her starter and has already evolved once and has shown no objection as of yet to evolving. I have to agree though the animators make about every pokemon look cool. Grovyle, Sceptile, and Combusken looked really ugly in the games but, look just fine in the anime. It originally took me a while to accept Combusken but, now I dont care if it goes to its final stage. Mainly because I was under the impression at the time May was a cute pokemon only type of trainer now I see May as a trainer that will accept anything really.

Combusken is *perfect* for May, and for it to evolve into Blaziken would be overkill.

I'm sick and tired of people saying Combusken will evolve because "I thought it would stay as an adorable Torchic, but now that it's evolved into the ugly-ass Combusken, why not go all the way?".
Which, by the way, it's not ugly. As people on this Thread have said, they've made Combusken a combination of cute and cool in the anime. Blaziken, on the other hand, is just plain UGLY.

Besides, has Bulbasaur taught us nothing? Pokemon don't need to evolve to be powerful. Torchic has already, evolved, isn't that enogh?
I ask you this one question. Does Combusken really need to evolve? Does it? Hmm?

- Treecko needed to because its small body was limiting its fighting spirit.
- Taillow needed to because it was as weak as hell and was barely getting any screentime.
- Snorunt evolved because it wouldn't have survived in the League in its current state.
- Phanpy evolved because it had been shafted for 200+ episodes.
- Wurmple evolved, well, because it *had* to.
- Mudkip evolved because it had been shafted since the episode it was caught in.

See a pattern? Combusken isn't shafted or in dire need to evolve to acomplish something. So why must it evolve?

Quite. It was Harrison's...where it appeared in 4 episodes back-to-back. Then it was in the 7th Movie.
The likes of Dunsparce would kill for that. KILL!!!

If you people really want your Blaziken fix, don't worry, Blaziken pretty much screams "Filler Character Pokemon".

I belive it will but not for a while. Maybe in the last BF contest this season but that's at the least, don't expect it sooner or at least until after Grovyle evolves...

I think May could handle Blaziken, but it would be sort of weird to see her with one.

i dont see any need. ingame it would be stupid not to evolve it, but this is the anime and it has very different criteria for what pokemon should and shouldnt do. in the anime, pokemon can be as good as the writers choose to make them, so if they want combusken to stay a powerhouse unevolved they can do so within reason. plus, combusken fits may as a character far better then blaziken would

I DESPISE Combusken. It's head... :/ Besides, other than Bayleef (and Grovile but I expect it to evolve eventually and mabye Marshtomp in the very very very distant future), when has a main character's middle stager not evolved? Charmeleon and Golbat were rushed to the 3rd stage quickly, so you'll never know when there will be an unexpected evolution *coughpidgeyotto&snorunt&chikoritacough*

At the risk of sounding cliché here...Crappiest reason. EVER. IIRC, Combusken had his Flygon on the ropes during the Grand Festival. Until of course, Shuu delivers the all powerful Stun Spore...boo! So she hardly needs to evolve to defeat him.

I'd like to elaborate on my opinion of Combusken, but I see KC has alreadt beaten me to it. The big meanie ;P Besides, I think most people are already well aware of my stance towards the idea of Combusken ever evolving.

So its a big 'En-Oh' from yours truely. I see no benefit, nor reason, to evolve Combusken what so ever~

You are right, Gravy, probably May's Combusken hardly needs to evolve into Blaziken to defeat Drew in the Pokemon Contest.

May will need a powerhouse for the GF, since all the rest are babies. If Eevee doesn't evolve and assumes an early Munchlax-like state of doing very little, it won't be a star of the festival. Squirtle can hold its own, but May will need a stronger Combusken (whether it evolves or not) to dominate and defeat Drew, Robert, Harley and the other rivals. And I swear, the Flygon that defeated Combusken before will not- I repeat NOT- go down to that bloody turtle!
