• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Commercials that make you mad?

MugoUrth

Bibarel's adorable.
I hate all fast food/junk food ads, because they're able to get away with portraying their food as healthy even though it isn't. It annoys me D: MacDonald's are getting really bad for this. You'd think they were advertising food containing actual food.

And obviously, the Go Compare man needs a slap xD

The only ones I hate are the commercials that try to make their food out to be "better" than burgers. Arby's Roast "Burger" tastes terrible and, in no way is it even a burger. Subway, always disliked them. KFC, no thank you. I'll take burgers any day of the week. ...Except when I get Tacos or Pizza.

To be perfectly fair, though, Burgers usually aren't the problem themselves. You can have a double burger with ketchup, mustard, and produce instead of a double burger with cheese and mayo, while ordering a side salad instead of fries, and STILL have a reasonable meal, assuming you can limit to one burger. French Fries, Cheese Curds and Onion Rings are usually worse than the burger.

Well yes, you can have a healthy burger, but not from MacDonald's. The amount of crap in those things is unbelievable. And by that, I mean all the additives and such. And the chips aren't even made from potato, they're made from potato powder. And don't even get me started on the sauces and dips.

Burgers are perfectly healthy, but fast food burgers generally aren't.

lol off topic kinda

Oh, u mad bro?
Those commercials that try to guilt trip you into donating to starving kids in Africa or adopting some pet on its last legs. Most try to make you feel like you are a horrible person if you don't do anything to help. I just change the channel when I hear that depressing montage song starting up because I know some celebrity who should be donating will start talking about what happened to some starving kid or start showing pictures of some dog with its leg cut off.

Exactly. If a nickel a day will feed 45 Africans, then why don't you donate something? that commercial irritates me too.

Here's a thought. If a nickel a day feeds 45 Africans, how many nickels were spent on that one commercial?

Talk about hypocritical!

THIS.

I mean, I feel bad for them and all, but why doesn't the actual company/organization that made the ad donate too, using the money they instead wasted on a commercial?

I generally hate commercials that last longer than the average commercial does. Takes up too much of my time, and irritates me to no end. Also, I agree with the above posters - those donation commercials are too much for me to take, and I generally change channels just to avoid those. They make me feel horrible, and annoyed at the spokespersons who could probably do something more for the stuff they're promoting than just sitting and talking. Of course, that might make me as bad as them because I don't do much either...

Uh, last time I checked, most sit-down resturant burgers are WORSE for you.

I hear the fast food joint that makes the healthiest burgers (as well as the highest rated) is actually Wendy's. Although I think I might be mistaking Plenty of Options Healthier than Fries for Healthiest Burgers, though.

Also, being annoyed by commercials that tell you to donate to charity pretty much tells me your heartless. Seriously, how are they bad if they want you to donate to a good cause. Cause that's where most of my money is going if I ever get a career as a cartoonist is donating to charity.

Nah, Maccy D's food is terrible. Other restaurants are bad too though, so I'm not saying it's just them. But there's next to no nutritional value in a lot of that "food". It tastes like processed plasticy, cheap food too, so I just find it gross to eat anyway.

Ooh, and there are those adverts where there's some guy shouting at you to buy some SUPER AMAZING PRODUCT. Shouting so loud you have to turn the volume down.

They haven't shown in a while but I hate those drunk driving/dead/smoking etc ads that have people dead or with blood on them. TV shows I can handle, that's fictional but ads no I hate them. There's this one freaking creepy ad that used to show not even late, sometimes at 7pm. They would show faces of people who's eyes were closed, so I guess dead people (Well not really dead but meant to be, unless they did use real dead people, then the ones who made that ad should be arrested and smacked up the backside, nobody wants to see their dead relative, in a dead state on a freaking ad).

Anyways why is it the media freaks if a girl's nipple is shown but ads that have stuff like this, or showing graphic images of what happens to body parts when you smoke etc (I DON'T SMOKE! AND NEVER WILL IT DOES NOT CONCERN ME SO SHUT UP!) nobody gives a crap or complains about it (But then again it has been years since they last aired, maybe people of Australia did?). No wonder why I can't stand seeing people I know smoking these days, let alone around me! Stupid ads..

I also avoid the ads after midnight (So I just don't watch any TV), even 11:30 is pushing it because the worst ads come on after that.

1) Burgers aren't meant to be healthy. That's why I love them.

2) Because they spend more money telling you to donate than actually donating...

I hate any commercial that is played twice in a row or even twice in a break. Or once every commercial break.

There is this one annoying ad in Australia atm. It's basically some toliet cleaner product but that's not what annoys me, they have a bunch of guys, child and adult saying "We men of Australia apologize for our bad aim, spluttering and the unmentionable.. whatever that is).

Yeah excuse me but speak for yourself, I do not have bad aim (granted it was a 8 year old child or something that said that, perhaps it meant for children?), I think think it's a little sexist the way they are trying to make it that men make the most messiest crap in there, yeah like all women are perfectly clean when they go to the toilet.

Porgon-XYZ

Wut are you saying?
I usually hate those with sad images in them. TV is for entertainment, not a sadshack...

The commercials for American cheese.
They always sound so arrogant when they're like, the AMERICAN cheese. Don't get me wrong, I'm an American and proud of it, but it just screams arrogance to those other poor countries.

Also, can't stand those commercials with Michelle Obama in it. She drives me INSANE!
It's a perfectly good commercial about food and then SHE comes in and she's all like, "Look at all this healthy food!" And the fact that she shoves the dilema of child obesity down people's throats, pun intended, it's old. Yes, I'm all for getting rid of obesity it's just that she's like, "We're going to take all of the junk/bad food out of the stores so I can control what you eat, yay!" Ok, maybe that yay part was on me, but you get my point, she just tries to pull a socialism food thing on us sometimes.
