Gardevoir faces stiff competition from Hatterene for a team slot, as Hatterene accomplishes many of the same things, but provides defensive utility with Magic Bounce that Gardevoir does not, and can turn offense on its head with Trick Room. However, Gardevoir can pull off one thing that Hatterene can't; a Choice Scarf set.

Choice Scarf
Timid - Trace
4 Defence, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed
-Moonblast
-Psychic
-Mystical Fire / Energy Ball
-Trick / Energy Ball

A Choice Scarf set capitalizes on Gardevoir's decent base 80 Speed stat, letting it revengekill a number of common threats. Trace synergizes with this set quite well as it allows it to copy Speed-boosting abilities like Swift Swim and Sand Rush, letting it outpace opponents like Barraskewda, Venusaur, and Excadrill even in their respective weathers. Moonblast is generally your go-to STAB attack as it usually does the most damage, and notably allows you to revengekill Dragons like Hydreigon and Dragapult. Psychic is a second STAB option that hits Poison-types like Gengar and Toxtricity harder. Mystical Fire is generally the go-to option for the third slot as it allows you to revengekill Excadrill with a bit of prior damage, as well as hitting the Steels that resist Gardevoir's STABs like Ferrothorn and Corviknight. Finally, Trick can be used to cripple a wall that Gardevoir struggles to deal with, like Sylveon or Galarian Corsola. However, either of the last moves could potentially be dropped for Energy Ball, which lets Gardevoir put in a lot of work against Rain teams by allowing it to KO Barraskewda without chip and have an option to threaten Gastrodon and Seismitoad.

All in all Gardevoir is a very niche Pokemon. It fits in best on teams that want a Pokemon who can reliably revengekill opposing weather sweepers, or teams that seek a Pokemon with Gardevoir's specific Fairy/Psychic/Fire coverage and can't deal with Hatterene's Trick Room. Ironically, these traits make it often a good fit on weather teams itself, where it can improve matchups against opposing weather teams without being overly passive or potentially screwing its own team's sweepers over with Trick Room.

If you want to heal, just use Wish. Life Dew isn’t that good even in a Double Battle.
Also, Psyshock is an alternative to Psychic if you need physical damage.

Although Gardevoir desperately misses its mega evolution, and needs the power from z-moves more than the ability to maybe live a hit that comes from dynamaxing. The ability to set up two favourable terrains and some much needed bulk are handy. But with so many solid steel and ghost types, Gardevoir has struggled to keep up in Galar.

Unfortunately, it almost never shows up to set up trick room in doubles any more, because Hatterene is slower, bulkier and protected from roar and taunt by magic bounce.

Its best use is generally to rely on trace's ability to pivot, since several pokemon are weak to their own abilities. Notably Raichu, Gastrodon and Arcanine. But in a meta with so many tanks with access to powerful boosts, and signifcantly faster sweepers, there's really not much that Gardevoir can bring to the table.

Gardevoir has serious competition with the new Psychic Fairy on the block, Hatterene... and is found wanting for the most part. Gardevoir is a series of not enoughs. Not enough Speed to sweep, not enough Offense to wallbreak, not enough defenses to wall. Gardevoir pales in comparison to Hatterene, whose stats are more focused into a Bulky Slow attacker, combined with Trick Room to support those tendencies and Magic Bounce to ensure that Trick Room gets up.

Gardevoir's main claim to fame is unpredictability. Gardevoir has a wide support movepool with numerous ways of disrupting opponents (Will-o-Wisp, Thunderwave, Toxic*, Trick) as well as plenty of buffing techniques (Heal Bell*, Dual Screens, Calm Mind, Healing Wish) along with a wide range of attack options, meaning it is very difficult to counter all Gardevoir variants.
